Lies and more lies, but I will always counter you guys with verifiable facts.

You claimed no company was taken over by any tribe but that's fallacy, lots of foreign companies were actually taken over by the Yorubas under the guise of Indignization decree.

Now look at the following attachments and see man's inhumanity to fellow man in full glare.

As you can see, over 1000 foreign companies were affected!

Now look at the second attachment and see the stringent conditions that would totally ensure that Igbos never got involved especially bearing in mind that their bank accounts were confiscated and the maximum each person got regardless of whatever thousands or millions he had prior to the war, was a measly 20 pounds!

These guys even went as far as utilizing state intruments together with the fulani to curtail educational growth in the east. FUTO was only set up after igbos in shagaris government pratically revolted... It's for this reason that the east became the place to produce the first state University in Nigeria , while the federal government was biulding for others elsewhere, the fiirst indigenous airport at Owerri etc. Since the days of awolowo, the Yoruba quest in nigerias politics has never been to develope Yoruba land per-se, otherwise Oshogbo wouldn't be the monument to squalid existence that it's today, rather their main aim has always been to checkmate the igbos....

Their leaders have always taunted the igbos too..Adesanyas daughter telling igbos while in Obasanjos government to face their "okirika business", Obasanjo telling igbo leaders at Owerri that if they want an international airport since they don't like using others airport,he will send immigration to Owerri airport,, Abiola Ajemobi asking why igbos should impose governor in Yoruba just because he thought that Uche Secondus was igbo, Fashola stating that some people who lost the war can't be benefitting from the government of Nigeria more than those who won the war, Tinubu and his wife going on with their 'okoro' rants..Oba of Lagos threatening to drown igbos... You won't find any igbo equivalent of this types making such derogatory statements about the Yorubas..., And that speaks volumes..

You have to take responsibility for the calamity that your uncles have brought to Nigeria and stop trying to share the blame! You are the dangerous tribalists who less than 6 years after independence, ran back to the same colonialists you chased away to come back and help you fight a war in Nigeria. The British subsidized your oil grabbing war to the fullest but has never left again since then and this country has paid dearly for that as Shell and Co run riot.

With the north producing little or no graduates at this time, you saw the unfolding events as great opportunity to hijack the whole administrative set up of the country and all of a sudden, your mischievous leader who once flamboyantly defined Nigeria as a "geographical expression" , became the champion of Nigerias unity, so much so that he was willing to orchestrate the first black on black genocide in Africa to achieve this, thereby providing the template upon which the brutal wars in Angola, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Sudan etc were fought.

You hijacked everything thereafter; UAC, LEVENTIS, FIRST BANK, IBWA, UBA, NIGERIA AIRWAYS, NIGERIA SHIPPING LINE, NICON, the whole federal civil service and almost all quotas meant for the locals with the indigenization policies in the oil industry, the finance sector, while creating fake billionaires all over the place with spurious over drafts from the banks.. Most dangerously, you created and introduced to Nigeria, a parasitic brand of elite that became infamous for their hedonistic penchants. That's how we came to become those who block streets for "naming ceremonies" and co.., owambe to wash new car, new appointment, and for burial ceremonies of uncles that died 3 decades ago when the celebrant was still poor!

Just as one awolowo started the culture of flying around in Nigeria to campaign in choppers, you created the private jet culture that is responsible for the massive capital flight in Nigeria today as the elite embibe your ostentatious display of profilgacy! Buying houses in London to prove you have"arrived", going for "medical check-up" abroad, spraying money on musicians like drug Lords will do else where. These were all cultural trends set by a highly hedonistic Yoruba elite post civil war, based mainly on looted funds. No wonder almost all government agencies pratically collapsed as a result.

Great summary.

I have been saying this Nigerians are more anti-igbo than pro-Nigeria or even their own tribe o. It’s almost as if their sole existence is to make sure igbos stay in their place and never advance.

But in the process they have ignored their own lands for so long that it’s now looking years behind the typical igbo cities. No wonder all of them is suddenly from Lagos.

This was a Businessday editorial writing by a Yoruba.
Nobody is arguing that Zik formed NCNC, rather it was Macaulay that formed it but Zik became its leader during that point in time yet it didn't stop Awo from playing the tribalism card.

You can call it anything you like but Zik started it by turning Yoruba man founded party,NCNC to an Igbo dominated party. That is sheer tribalism and a gun powder ready to explode if NCNC had won the premiership of the Western region.
Nigerian elites did everything to be independent
of the whites and it would have been foolhardy of the Yorubas at that time who were more educated, more advanced and exposed and also believed that they can do better than the whites( they did not want to be under the whites) to allow other people or person who did not have a history of greatness, good governance or any palatable traits from their history to rule them.It would have been a disaster for the Yorubas if God in His magnanimity had not exposed Zik for who he really was....a staunch and unrepenting tribalist...
Thank God for Awo because Yorubaland would have been backward like Igboland.
Zik and his gang eventually showed their fangs of nepotism, tribalism and longthroat when they killed the leaders of the Yorubas,Hausas and Midwest and left theirs unscathed.A leopard can never change its spots.Goldfish have no hiding place.

You see how smart you think you are? Immediately after the war, immediately after confiscating almost all igbo property all over the country and bombing every inch of igboland with the help of your masters from Britain, Egypt, Sudan and the Soviet Union, immediately after killing close to 5 million igbos Inna genocidal quest to loot eastern oil, immediately after eliminating almost all igbos through targeted progroms and massacres, immediately after your 20 pounds for any amount left in the banks by igbos and ofcourse, immediately after saddling the whole officialdom with highly unqualified so-called Yoruba administrators post war, you THEN started an indigenization/privatization process and expected the igbos to participate!? You see why the rest of the country see you lot as a very treacherous bunch? This is the only reason why you are the only group begging and crying for nigerias unity today.. Even the fulanis are not so desperately pro unified Nigeria like you guys...

1) Awolowo had left the Gowon Regime before the Indigenization decree.

2) The policy did NOT take place in one day or one month as been falsely propagated but over many years.

3) The policy was about the NOT sales of any company but opening up the ownership structures of the companies for NIGIERIANS (not just the Yorubas as been spuriously portrayed by silly tribal bigots).

4) Trading in the shares of these companies which were compelled to list their shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange is a continous process such that those who didn't buy Firstbank or West African Larfarge Shares in 1975 were able to buy them in 1983 or 2002 etc.

5) Igbos, Ijaw, Efik,Fulanis, Berom, Yorubas and indeed ANY Nigerian who wants to buy shares in these companies can do so.

The basis of accusing the Yorubas in this matter is borne out of ignorance.

lol

You say this nonsense every time and only you believe your delusional rants. There is no place in your 5 eastern villages of Abia,IMO,Anambra etc that is as developed as Ibadan city only.

The only partially good place in the entire Igboland is tiny Onitsha which is,according to Google, only 52 sq km. grin
Ibadan is,according to Google, 3080 sq km and has the highest number of GRAs in Nigeria.
Everybody knows how GRAs look like in Nigeria and the infrastructures in them.
The entire Igboland does not have up to 6 GRAs.

If you talk about slums,USA has slums but more developed than UK that does not have any slum.

Lagos has slums but it is more developed than Niger state that is bigger and without slum.
As a matter of fact,Lagos state is more developed than all the remaining 35 states.

Ibadan has slum but manyfold more developed than the entire tiny Igboland that also has slums and IDP camps strewn all over its length and breath.

You can continue with your illusions as millions of your people pack their loads and families to come to Yorubaland and become willing refugees.

Igbos like all other Nigerians face economic problems on daily basis and I don't know how this is caused by Awolowo or the Yorubas.

What are you talking about? Awolowo was the head of the economic team and the defacto vice president during the regime of Gowon! They weren't at loggerheads at all. The role he played in the government of Gowon was very similar to the role Ngozi Okonjo Iweala played in the government of Goodluck Jonathan. No significant economic policy would have been implemented without it being their brainchild or at least recieving endorsement from them.

If the Indignization decree was done in good faith, it wouldn't have been implemented at that point in time, considering how crucial it was and how a significant part of the country would automatically be disenfranchised! Let's be honest with ourselves and accept to the truth.

I suggested you reread the initial attachment. You cannot put the blame on Awolowo when your attachment clearly shows he’s in opposition to the government in power. Why would anyone want to empower his/her enemy?

I think you should blame Gowon if you honestly think the policy did not favor your people.

Also, it’s possible for you to air your thoughts, feelings and opinions without maligning the characters of others. We can have conversations as to the beneficiaries considering those actively in government as at then. Who was the finance minister then?

Ps: thanks for the decorum

This is a load of crap!
When NCNC was formed, Macaulay was the chairman while Zik was the secretary. The leadership naturally fell on him after Macaulay. Zik was the most influential nationalist during the push for independence and was equally charismatic. Which drew lots of followers to NCNC across ethnic divides. Lagos was the capital then, and Zik was based there. Most of the candidates, if not all were Yorubas. Same time in the East, a minority was about to become the Eastern regional premier. Only for Awo,the father of tribalism in Nigeria, to resort to tribalism and cheap blackmail when he lost out. He told his people to cross-carpet to AG so he could gain a majority through the back door.

What Awo did is quite shameful and despicable but to people without honour and dignity, he did right. He laid a very bad foundation and primitive politics that torpedoed Nigeria's chance of nurturing a healthy democracy.

Lol, are you not making a mockery of yourself by claiming to be developed when the SW is still so backward?

In what area or sector will you claim to be better than the SE or Igbos despite the serious handicap we had to overcome?

Stop hiding under Lagos to claim greatness because the last time I checked, the SW minus Lagos is a dead zone. No single airport is viable in the entire SW except the ones Nigerians use in Lagos. Your cities are nothing but glorified slums that are disturbing and not fit for modern human habitation. Purchasing power is so low in SW that people had to live in terrible and dilapidated houses.

Check out Owerri, Enugu, Onitsha, Awka etc. and contrast them with Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Ibadan, Akure, Ogbomosho etc. Also, check our villages/rural areas and compare with those rustic and derelict villages/rural areas that litter SW. Even North is doing better than SW in both rural and urban areas living conditions.

Stop decieving yourself because there is absolutely nothing to gloat about in the SW, it should even be an embarrassment in the grand scheme of things. SMH.

At the first highlighted part, what are you even talking about here? What do you mean by Awolowo being in opposition? At what point did Gowon's government become an enemy to Awolowo?
Records have shown that Awolowo joined the government of Gowon in 1967 and was the defacto Vice president! He was a key figure in that government from 1967 till 1971, and before he resigned, he already prepared the budget and forcast for 1972! I have attached a file that leds credence to that, they are excerpts from his resignation letter!! Gowon always listened to him and never had issues with him. So who was enemy to who??

Neither am I absolving Gowon, the two of them connived in doing it, but Awo was no doubt the mastermind!

On the second highlighted part, if you're observant, you will clearly see that I have been polite to those who are civil while I don't entertain the juvenile delinquents. Check from page 1 and you will see it.

Either you are the only Igbo who deceives himself like this or you are delusional like ojuku because all your elders said that Igboland is dead and gradually becoming a desert.

Before Nigeria your people were seriously backward. When Nigeria was formed, Igboland still remained backward. When each region was left to show how versatile they were,Igboland was the most backward that your ancestors began to run to Ibadan which was the most developed place in Nigeria even more than Lagos then.

I do not have to argue with you because everybody including World bank,UNDP and NBS know that Igboland is the poverty capital of the South while Yorubaland since the creation of Nigeria continues to grow as the richest region in Nigeria.

Sure, Nigerians are facing chronic economic challenges that were self inflicted. It's even the more reason why past evil policies that brought us here in first place ought to be revisited.

Any person who is unbiased and honest will definitely agree there was carefully orchestrated evil policies that were aimed at criminally emasculating the Igbos. It began in 1967 and still persists even today!

Lol, stop being smart by half. All you wrote there are half truths meant to decieve the unsuspecting.

1. You claim that Awolowo had left the Gowon government before the Indignization decree was passed into law? Awolowo had already forwarded the budget and forcast for 1972 fiscal year before resigning. Again, don't you know that policies can't be implemented immediately they were hatched? For the Indignization decree to have become law by 1972 means that the idea has been deliberated upon and the memo passed much earlier! Have you forgotten or don't you know there is what is called bureucratic bottlenecks in government? It is evidently clear that Awolowo was the one that pushed for Indignization decree!!

2. Of course yes, you're now getting it, Awolowo presented it to Gowon much earlier!

3. Yes, NEPC act was aimed at transferring ownership of foreign companies operating in Nigeria to Nigerians. Now, consider this, a devastating war was fought in the East and it just ended. Worse still, those from the East who survived the war, had all their accounts frozen and a measly 20 pounds given to them regardless of whatever thousands or millions they had in their accounts prior to the war. As if that was not enough, they all lost their jobs! So how on Earth do the architects of that Indignization decree except the Igbos to be involved in the process when they were totally emasculated?? The conditions that were attached that had to be met before one could participate even made it obvious that the objective was to totally rout them from having any stake in the economy.

4. Your point here is another attempt to decieving gullible ones. Lol, is buying and selling of stocks no longer a standard procedure for companies that are listed on the stock exchange? You sold companies in 1972 and thereabout during a time a section of the country couldn't participate. A particular section bought most of it and formed the chairman and board of directors then is there anything left? Shares that were later sold were obviously minority ones.

5. Another half truth. A company can decide not to sell its shares or just sell little. Other Nigerians buying insignificant shares later on makes no difference because the deed has been done, except on rare occasions such as during bankruptcy or takeover.

The basis for accusing Awolowo and his cohorts for those crimes is 100% in order.

Quit this your silly propanganda.

1) Awolowo had resigned from the Gowon Regime shortly after the civil war in 1971.

The indigenization of these qouted companies took place around 1975-1978.

2) The clamour for indegenization policy (now called local content development) started in the 1950s to ensure that political Independence also guarantee economic Independence for Nigerians.

The purpose of the indigenisation decree was bullshit for me. Nigerians were clearly not capable of managing the multinationals present then. If they were capable, they would have founded their own companies.

What you call indigenization is properly termed "nationalization". It was not invented by Nigerians.

It is a very popular concept by countries to assert their independence and control over their resources.

The ability to run a company is not the same as founding one and I have seen no evidence
that Nigerians were grossly incapable.

You won't find any igbo equivalent of this types making such derogatory statements about the Yorubas..., And that speaks volumes..
this epistle doesn't even make sense...

What you call indigenization is properly termed "nationalization". It was not invented by Nigerians.

It is a very popular concept by countries to assert their independence and control over their resources.

The ability to run a company is not the same as founding one and I have seen no evidence
that Nigerians were grossly incapable.

The concept of Nationalisation is no longer in vogue. The little resurgence it is gaining now is merely a passing phase which will go with Trump and his likes. Countries no longer seek to nationalise, instead they hunt aggressively for foreign investment. Nationalisation na scam.

You are right with the bold.
But we are discussing the past and not the present.

Nationalization sometimes brings economic woes in the long-run but usually very popular at the onset.
It is what the "people" wanted.

You keep spewing crap back to back grin grin
Igboland is dead or becoming a desert in what sense please? With our cities are expanding at a rate never seen before and many Igbos, especially those in the North relocating home? Take a look at urban centers and rural areas, they look lively and exotic unlike yours that look rustic and godforsaken grin grin

Lol, your region was developed before the coming of the white man only to be looking like settlements straight from the 17th century now shocked shocked

Lastly, your land is actually deteriorating if anything. Only Lagos is expanding. Even the airport arebe was building in osobo has been abandoned and overgrown with weeds while all the SE states are about to have viable airports. Owerri, Enugu, Asaba, and P.H all have relatively busy airports while Anambra, Abia and Ebonyi will soon complete theirs. Yet all the so-called airports in the SW are dead except Lagos shocked shocked

Which Ibadan are you talking about. Is it the big for nothing ibadan I know or the brown roof republic you knew?
