We are currently facing the August Rainfall break and a lot of farmers are also reporting this.

This lack of rain in SW Nigeria has posed a big challenge signaling the importance of irrigation.

Wow

That's lovely

I was thinking you were going to acquire drip tapes and dig a borehole

Cost is a big impediment to irrigating sizable acres of land. I will look into that down the road.

It's better to look at the Irrigation part cos one can't predict rainfall again

But I do see some Plantain Farms without irrigation

How they pull that out is a mystery to me

A lot of plantain farms in Nigeria are done without irrigation. I will say most farming in Nigeria is without irrigation. You can tell from recent maize and rainfall issue.

I see

No wonder most of them plant during the raining season and use manure to support it

Due to the prolonged lack of rainfall, some of the plantain died and are currently being replaced.

from 6months till fruiting begins
and yes u rotate between urea and 20:10:10every 2weeks

hello, i got 30 -32 match box per one kilogram of npk.
i want to know if it's the same with your measurement.

Applying 8 match box of npk per month, will it have adverse effect on the plantain?

no it won't so long as it's not too close to the stem of the Plantain then you're good to go

Happy New Year everyone. Our plantain farm is still going well but we only have about 40% of the interplanted maize reach maturity due to intermittent rain. The hope is to build on last year knowlegde for the upcoming plantain season. Our contracted workers will arrive at the farm next week and we will probably commence clearing the following week.
