goodnessme1:What do mean? Yeebos practice some kind of primitive culture that are really backward , they also deprive female from inheritance and you're talking trash. They migrate to Lagos and boast about how they came to expose us to technology. |

Bkayyy:Shut your dirty mouth, what part of Yoruba deprive lady from giving birth? Is it ijebu or aw or I or egba just name the tribe because I'm from a royal family from Epe and the lady who came from royal lineage is our ancestor, she was so powerful her husband is from another town and my ancestors has lost touch with those ones. We the Yoruba's are far more civilize in the Nigeria settings the north and east are primitive |

goodnessme1:After you lost Biafra war! Awolowo gave Igbo's their properties back with money. And they got access to our free education. Till today Igbo's live freely in yoruba land. You guy have very bad mind towards Yoruba. Yorubas might be cunny in nature but we don't show hatred. I grew up among Igbo's they are use to locking thier children away from Yoruba children. They insult Yoruba from their heart. Yoruba's who are use to making jest of other Yoruba tribe don't insult with hatred only for fun. I know one Igbo family that ran away from the north during northern crises and build house in Lagos. I was close to this family until the day my friend called me 'Yoruba man Una no wan give us Biafra get out of my house' I was really surprised, who are telling these ones story? Our normal discussion was science and tech previously. If you want Biafra and the Yoruba's are playing politics hatred is not the key. That same family later insulted my mum of which as a Lagos native I won't 4get it, if table turn tomorrow I won't hesitate to abuse power, god 4bid tho. At this stage of my life I won't be a tribal bigot because I know the Yoruba's really love the Igbo's but we are very different in our culture and doings, we've showed the big bro sample to Igbo several times. I've seen and I've join Igbo candidate contesting some position in Lagos despite the fact the the real lagos native are deprived of governorship position in our state. now tell what Igbo's have done to Yoruba's to show love to us. If you don't have anything to say then ignore |

goodnessme1:I know of this many years ago in some Yoruba town. Tell me which community in SW does this now! Tell me! Everyone has one or two backward culture but we've abandoned a lot of them. Do see the way Yoruba muslim and Christian love each other? That civilization simple |

Sometimes, i try to convince myself of being a human living in the 21st century but the things i hear day by day kinda makes me feel like I'm living in the 17th century. This act is preposterous and shouldn't be allowed in a community of homo sapiens sapiens. We should have gone beyond this level of categorising people as lesser humans because of societal nuances. I hope my beautiful people of the South-East will uproot this act from their society as soon as possible. |

This topic is too deep for a Nairaland thread... It runs deeper than English words can describe. You really need to visit the villages to understand why this osu matter might never slide... Deeper than English 2 Likes |

Fleshly: The system of Osu or Ohu as described is inhumane. Why should what ones ancestors have been or done follow someone around all their life. This isn't about igbo culture, it's about an abusive practice. No culture is sacred - culture is adaptive. Many African tribes used to kill twins, bury servants with their masters and perform sexual mutilation on women. These things have in the main been stopped - why not this? The correct answer is not deflecting the obvious solution by pointing at other tribes. The difference between what you have accused say the yorubas of here is that no one comes out to proudly say he or she is a ritualist because society frowns on such practices but here you are defending a noxious practice that is in itself an arcane ritual. In this day and age? By a generation born amidst technology? Really? 1 Like |

Blue3k: The Yourubas also have slaves descendants who were considered 'Food for the gods". This set of people now make an entire tribe in Yoruba land, but the Yoruba never discriminate against them. |

Bro... Trust me... This osu topic is not a day's discussion. It's about bloodlines... It's as hard as going back in time to undo what has been done. I used to think it was a matter that could handled at our level... But after bin properly educated on why the system exists... I must tell you, it's not that easy to undo. You have to go to the villages and have In-depth conversations with the villagers to understand where I'm talking from. Etuagievin: |

tollyboy5: Yorubas are not cunning, they are wise and full of wisdom. Every human nature is to either directly or indirectly dominate the other. In Nigeria' s case, the Yoruba has the upper hand in dominating the Nigerian state but we do not do this by force, because no tribe wins, irrespective. But at the same time, the Yorubas has to be wise not to be dominated by any other tribe. So for those that want to dominate but are not given free hands to do so, they resulted to violence, became bitter when not successful at it and always thought they have imaginary enemies in Yorubas. They thought we do not support their ways of doing things, which is true. Now that's not Yoruba being cunning. It is wisdom. Yoruba is so wise to the extent that she determines the Nigerian future. We ve repositioned ourselves within the Nigerian state. This was not achieved through violence and bloodshed. It was achieved peacefully and subtly. Young man, That is called wisdom and not being cunning. NB: All your other write up makes sense. 1 Like |
