I thought there was a law passed sometime ago that mandated every hospital be it government or private to treat anybody with gunshot weather he/she present police report or not. Then after such a person has be restored to normal condition, he/she be detained and hold hostage until all the needed details and investigations have concluded. I don't know why this country cannot just work for God sake. The hospital that rejected the victim should also be hold responsible. |

Lamasta: I still don't understand y hospitals ask for police report from a man who is about to die. Can't the hospital report the incident to police as they treat the patient at extra charge? Could it be that I am wiser than the whole police force? |

Even if they call the police, the police will not still issue the report on time, they will still find a way to extort money from them before issuing the report and lock up those that brought the victim to police station. Maybe u have not envmcouter something like this before. . ThatFairGuy1: |

helpee: Are you insinuating that every report that has been published about a hospital rejecting victims of gunshot wounds were distorted? and it seems like you know about the medical profession... what do you think is the standard requirement needed to extract a bullet from a person? |

Odidigboigbo:I haven't o and I don't want to. I Know what will follow (implication), what is to be achieve is saving life of the patient. Those roadside policemen can be induce to even follow them TO BE CONFIDANT FOR THE HOSPITAL TO TREAT THE PATIENT not waiting for police report that won't be even given on time. |

The right and humane thing to do in such a scenario is 1. IMMEDIATELY apply any form of first aid while rushing the victim to a hospital even without any form of initial deposit. 2. Medical personnels should commence treatment IMMEDIATELY and then effect modalities to notify the authorities (police in this case) that we have a gunshot victim in our facility. It still beats my imagination why getting a police report and making an initial deposit should come before attending to a medical emergency. Even if the wounded is a Most wanted criminal, attending to him first should come before or concurrently with informing the police and not after. 1 Like |

Cant this country make a law that hospitals should treat bullet wounds while the same hospital should report the ongoing treatment to the police instead of the dying victim or the good Samaritan that brought them to the hospital? |
Re: Customer Shoots Man Dead Over Shawarma, Flees by webm: 8:12am On Sep 15, 2020 |
WHY WOULD HOSPITALS NEED POLICE REPORT BEFORE HELPING A DIEING PERSON? This country is weird honestly. Why can't the hospital admit the patient and call the police while actively saving his life? |
Re: Customer Shoots Man Dead Over Shawarma, Flees by mukthar2000(m): 8:12am On Sep 15, 2020 |
I suggest this our law of waiting for police report on emergency issues should be rewrite, to avoid most hospitals to. change their mentality of wasting innocent soul's. RIP brother. |

Those bloody hospital staff that rejected the injured man because he didn't have a police report need to be arrested and prosecuted. What happened to the oaths they took? They have no business calling themselves medical professionals. It's time Nigerians moved beyond some of these barbaric practices |

Odidigboigbo: Do police speak from 2 sides of their mouth? I thought they warned hospitals not to reject gunshot victims but to treat and report immediately. Why this nonsense nah? That merit hospital should be closed down. |

Odoogu:Unless the bullet is impacted close to a vital organ, removing the bullet is not the immediate priority. The first thing is the hemodynamic stability of the patient. The patient may need an immediate surgery but usually not because the bullet must be extracted. The surgery may be needed to repair bleeding vessels, intestines etc and in the process the bullet may be extracted if it is not dangerous doing so at that time. However, removing the bullet is not the priority. The patient may need blood transfusion, enough drips, assisted ventilation, arrest of bleeding in the acute stage. Ordinarily, a gun shot is a case for tertiary centres abinitio. Meanwhile, prior to the law that authorized hospitals to treat patients without doctors report, it was a common scenario asking for a police report ( sometimes they used it as an excuse to discharge patient rather than telling them they can't handle it or that the patient is dead already), however since they enacted the law, no doctor is foolish enough to use it as an excuse. That is what I am trying to infer. |

maasoap: A hospital does not need any police report to treat any patient. This is why I laugh when Nigerians place all their problems at the feet of their leaders and blame only the president..... Even if a hospital treats a criminal, it's not a crime. |

I think the govt need to look into posting a policeman to public hospitals for the purpose of police reports. This is not the first time people would died because of a police paper. |
