A lot of people outside Edo State are so much interested in this Saturday’s Election. Not because they are interested in who wins between Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu, but because they want to know if the INEC as the umpire are actually doing their best to give Nigerians elections that are free, fair, credible, and transparent.

One of the best ways to conduct transparent elections is E-voting and E-collation, where human involvement would be greatly minimised.
But since the stakeholders involved had seriously maintained that Nigeria is not ready E-voting, and that hackers would still interfere with the process of E-collation, then we have no other options than to stick to our dear old manual methods.

Nevertheless, with the manual methods, free, fair, credible, and transparent elections can still be achieved, and that will only come when the umpires themselves released the results of the elections to the public by themselves as early as possible.

This is exactly where the newly introduced Election Results Viewing Portal came to the rescue.

It is undoubtedly true that with the manual voting and collation methods, it is practically difficult to eliminate the manipulations and rigging at the Polling-units, which are allowed by the POs, and nothing much can be done about it presently, but with the Results Viewing Portal, the manipulations at the collation points which had been confirmed on several occasions, can be eliminated.

Nevertheless, the newly introduced Election Results Viewing Portal has lots of glitches which INEC should quickly look into, and fix up immediately.

The greatest of all the glitches is that the portal only showed Form-EC8As of all the Polling-units, and nothing else. What are we now supposed to be doing with about 2,700 Form-EC8As that would be uploaded to the internet by INEC??

By the time the media would start showing Area Level Results and Local Level Results, if someone goes to the Portal to get first-hand information from the umpire, then they would be overwhelmed by thousands of Form-EC8As, whereas we would be expecting to see higher level results such as the Form-EC8Bs from the wards, Form-EC8Cs from the Local Governments, the final Form-EC8D from the State INEC Headquarters, and Form-EC8E for the final declaration; as well as Form-EC40Gs, Form-EC40G(1)s, and the Form-EC40G(2) which represents the cancelled Polling-units at the Area Levels, Local Levels, and State Level respectively.

INEC should be far ahead of the media announcers.
We wouldn't want the media to help us in the collation of results this time around.

Let the INEC Election Results Viewing Portal alone be our viewing window.

Well, they can save themselves by immediately uploading results once ready & avoid this ward/LGA collation sequence because these are the rate limiting steps the rigging happens or simply advocate & get e-voting approve by the NASS.

However, INEC is helpless going by the trend of elections conducted so far under the APC.They are under pressure by incumbent government.Hope the US visa ban will also include defaulting INEC staff.

Unfortunately posting results online is not in our electoral act yet.

One thing I know for now is that, with the quick release of all the results, a lot of manipulations can be put under control., and the INEC Online Results Portal is one way of achieving that.

You expect anybody to swear on behalf of another person??
Even if they will rig, which is 250% sure, why must the INEC officials aid them?
INEC should be up on their own game to stop the rigging, and not aiding them.
