mii4all: Silent reader..but i thought to share this one. I think everyone should apply for their gcms notes so you can plan yourself accordingly. it will certainly give you an idea of VO's leanings on your matter especially if you haven't gotten an update and your application has been ongoing for at least 3 months +. It seems a lot of decisions have already been made.
Profile: BSc Engineering, 30+, Married, Banker, going for MBA @ UoT
1st application; Applied 9th Feb No medicals Biometrics done 17th Feb BVL 5th Mar 1st Application Refused 6th Mar Reasons: Home ties, Purpose of visit, Employment prospects Applied for GCMS 10th Mar Received GCMS 8th April
2nd application 28th April Revised LOE specifically targeting visa refusal reasons and VO's concerns as seen in GCMS notes Upfront medicals Medicals passed 26th May BVL 26th May No update since, no AIP Started classes online without resigning 1st Sep Applied for GCMS 1st Sep Received GCMS 19th Sep
I suppose 'info sharing' as seen in the notes implies that PPR will happen when travel restrictions ease and normal operations resume.
It will end in praise.

Hi. Please what platform did you use to request GCMS notes |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by jimohib(m): 12:49pm On Sep 20, 2020 |
You should download the GetBarter or Wallets Africa app. If you really need to do this right now, I think you should use their virtual card service. Although you will pay more compared to the bank rates but it's likely the only option you have for now. Else, you need a dollar card from your bank. It took me about 2 weeks to get mine from GTB, and it was before COVID19. So friend, GetBarter or Wallets Africa are your best bet right now. But expect to pay between 450 - 490 per dollar sha. And it works! ✌ papijulah: Please, is anyone else experiencing this payment error message since Friday?
I tried making payment for my application to no avail 2 Likes |

Hi.. My honest apology since you felt offended.. That's obviously not my intention.. The analogy I used was generic not necessarily about the moniker.. Maybe my response didn't come out well. Either way, we move.. No insult intended pls Osemigho:
The applicant is an education administrator. Except the applicant work for top schools, S/he would probably earn below 500,000 naira. You are the one assuming O/G worker and discussing salary outside of his profile. He asked for opinion and I offer mine based on his profile and ask more questions about the documents. It is offensive that you called my assumptions flawed but yours are out of the applicant context.
Please let’s stop the statement “if the visa officer ...“ People are here to learn and share ideas. If you want only visa officers opinion, applying for the visa will get you that. Thanks and God bless. 3 Likes |

Essentially same docs as 1st application, only added family pics. CIC forms Passport pages with travel stamps LOA, partial scholarship letter, approved student loan SOA (bank & pension) Resume Academic transcripts & other Professional certificates Employment docs, pay slips Land ownership docs Registered Coy CAC docs Utility bills Family docs (birth & marriage certs) PCC NwanyiOkpa:

fratermathy:
Your questions weren't directed to me but I want to comment on the last questions.
Basically, no one should do a PhD if they are not interested in working as academics. It makes no sense to do a PhD simply because you want to do it or feel like doing it. It's only in Nigeria that egotistical persons do PhDs just for the title. In North America, a PhD doesn't make you special. It only means that you're a researcher/teacher.
Like you said, PhD students increase the profile of the university generally. This is why they prefer hiring applicants with research and publication experience. The more you publish under the banner of the university, the more visible the university becomes. Ultimately, your dissertation will make an original contribution to knowledge and you'd be doing so with the university's name. Your presence in the university can also attract huge funding and endowments to the university. We can argue that the university benefits more from this arrangement and that is why a PhD student should NEVER pay for the program.
A PhD program takes time, energy and drains you. Why should you pay for it? Job opportunities are limited to the academia or some specialist or research agencies. However, those who go for a PhD actually love academics so it works well for them. You shouldn't go for a PhD in Canada because you just want to migrate. It makes no sense to go through that stress just because you want to be in Canada when there are easier shortcuts that can be used.
To answer Osemigho, the cons of doing a PhD outweigh the pros. However, the most important factor is fulfilment. You do a PhD because you are passionate about it and when you finish, regardless of all odds, you'll be happy you did it. In terms of jobs, get ready to look for jobs mostly in the USA as offers are limited and competitive in Canada.
I remove cap for you. You know what you are talking about. Have a great day. |

Thank you vibrant 99. Actually I Had already deferred to winter 2021 before the comments started coming in. My principle is while awaiting another opportunity dont throw away the one at hand. Mcgill is a good school and highly competitive. I have started mailing new supervisors but pending their responses i wish to know whether if i proceed to submit a new SOA of 8m after i have paid 10k cad tuition i will overcome the VO concerns on finance? Things would get better am certain. Just answer me in all honesty. If i wont stand a chance of approval with that let me know Only your visa officer truly know your chances. Unfortunately, at that point, their is little one can do about their decision. If you want to try, try again and pay if you can. There is no harm in trying and it will have little effect on another application when you have scholarship and declared previous rejection. Try again but don’t over delay it. Time is going and winter is almost near. I suspect IRCC will start issuing passport request soon once the border officially open. They seems to have resumed back to work on all applications. Let’s pray we don’t have a second wave of COVID or lock border because of it. So fix the things you want to and apply soon. All the best. |

Thank you Osemigho. I replied your comment same day but I couldn't find it and had issues making new comments. Thanks also to Pee2jay9 and Time2Soar. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ I presently work with an International Education Foundation - so I oversee major IT / Data related operations of the foundation in Nigeria as well as Programs and other on the ground liaison responsibilities as seen on my reference letter and prior before this employment I have worked across 3 different industries within core IT positions (leading companies - Oil and Gas etc). Just to add to the parent comment again, I did not mention the financial support of family members in my application to study in Canada. I solely presented available financial/economy ties that I am not using all my savings to pursue study in Canada. I drew a family tree showing my family information, I attached my late dad burial poster (early this year). I lost my mum while I was just 6 years - so I don't even have any document on that, I only added her picture to the family tree. I was invited to Istanbul by IBM Turkey as the representative of their local partner company in Nigeria regarding a big project we were working on as that time. Likewise, the opportunity to travel to New York following the invitation of my present firm. So, I only felt that can establish some sense of credibility and good profile towards my personality. The investment is with an Agritech firm - I can share the opportunity with you if you want - lol. I am only thankful to God for his Grace to have the profile presented. I also saw similar profile with a young lady of about 25 few weeks back on this platform. So, it is only God's grace. I have written a rebutter on this through webform as eligibility and background check is still ongoing. I only feel that the reasons made are wrong to what I presented and I clearly tied this to my short and long term career goals. By the way - is CSE same as webform? Thanks. Osemigho:
Incompatible employment and Education profile. Lack of evidence of your parent death. How are you able to save that much money considering your age and employment situation?
Personally I’m curious to know the financial institution that gave you 22% interest on investment. Also, I don’t think you need to be attaching letter of invitation to other countries. Your visa And passport entry and Exit stamps are enough evidence.
In my opinion, you submitted a solid application that looks too good to be true of your age, and employment and financial situations. This can be mere speculation because I am not a visa officer. 2 Likes |
