Hello, please I would need clarification on this;

1. A student had a low GRE (like mid range 310-320) and he has gotten approval from a professor for research. Nevertheless, he did not meet the department requirement for GRE. The department demands 162Q. But the student had 159Q. Please, how can this student be successfully admitted despite this constraint.

2. How do you know a professor has funding or a research he is undertaking that needs student to carry them out?. I discovered most department don't state it clearly on the profile page that a certain professor is open for student or something.


3. Please what is the disadvantage of applying to low rank school in the U.S in terms of admission. Moreover, I discovered a low rank school had all of the equipment I needed for research and I am concerned it is a low ranking school . Hence, Is it that, the tendency to be funded is low or there are other things attached to them.

The low ranking I stated there implies their position when ranked with other schools. They do not fall around top 100.
Then the low funding i assume is probably the tendency to be funded is unlikely. Those are my concern anyway.

I seek your esteemed and experiential view to those questions.

For PhD admission GRE is mostly used for formality and moreover the minimum published most time is not really the minimum (I know someone on this thread with 3.2/4 that got admitted to a school that demanded 3.5/4 on their website )

For funding you have to ask your professor straight up cos that's very important for PhD

Rank or no rank your supervisor is the most important thing in PhD(I didn't say going to high rank schools is bad)

Doesn't matter.
There is this e-signature your recommenders can put whatever on i.e full name or any other thing.

Sevis fee can’t be paid in Nigeria at all but seme border is the nearest location.

Or someone in US and other countries help you in doing such.

Yes any Ecobank over there does that back then but dunno if other banks follow suits now.

It’s good to go there and explore the country but the stress is another thing to consider.

Please has anybody been able to retrieve or fill a new Ds-160 form lately? I’ve been trying to retrieve mine but it keeps saying “session timed out” (on all the different browsers I tried- safari, chrome, firefox)...

I’ve also tried to fill a new one but it seems like that icon isn’t working (like it was blocked intentional by the website controllers)....

Please let me know if you’ve been able to fill a new form lately and which browser you used.

I guess you are using MTN network. I discovered MTN network doesn't do well with DS-160 form.
Use another network, it will work.
