Following his statement on Edo governorship election, a pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Yoruba Youth Forum (YYF) has condemned the national leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed for selling his integrity on the altar of politics.

The Group in a press statement by its President- General, Comrade Abiodun Bolarinwa said that Tinubu’s statement on Edo’s governorship election was unfortunate and one that has shown Tinubu for who he truly is. “How can somebody who claimed to have fought for Nigeria’s democracy be so careless with his utterances.

It would be recalled that Tinubu accused Obaseki of being a dictator in Edo, noting that the governor also lacked the rule of law and respect for the people of the state.

He said: “I want to appeal to you to reject Godwin Obaseki in this coming election. I have suffered with many others to bring about this democratic regime that today we are enjoying in the country.

Godwin Obaseki didn’t participate in any aspect of the struggle to enshrine democracy in the country.” The Group therefore challenged Tinubu to show proof that he actually fought for Nigeria’s democracy. “It is so sad that Tinubu could claim that he fought for Nigeria’s democracy.

We know those who genuinely fought for democracy and Tinubu is not in any way among these patriotic people. Tinubu should tell us where he was between 1996 to 1997.

A cocaine lover who sees nothing wrong in diverting bullion vans filled with hard currencies meant for the betterment of lagosians into his bourdilion residence have no integrity.

What happened in Edo State should be a wake-up call for the South-West to do away with the notorious drug baron... Same way my beloved Edo brothers dealt with the miscreant called Oshiomhole.

God bless the better South.

God bless PDP.

Only 1% of Nigerian politicians have integrity and tinubu is not one of them.
As for the struggle, he is just an opportunist who tried to get appointment from abacha and when he failed he ran abroad to do drugs while deceiving people that his legit

Nonentities making too much noise without substance.
If the Southeast had a Tinubu, they would have produced a President under the platform of PDP.

Which integrity did he have in the first place?

Someone whose name, parternity, age, academic qualifications, and Democratic principles are all wash?

Yaribanzas really need to get rid of this bastard because since he emerged on the scene Yoruba political sagacity has been rubbished by this selfish, greedy convicted drug pusher.

Imagine a Bola Tinubu that was secretly frolicking with late Gen.Sanni Abacha for political appointment while MKO Abiola was incarcerated & we're protest coming back to claim being a democrat? Abeg spare people that scrap.

The same man stiffling democracy today with thugs & agberos in Lagos? Just like Buhari as well as many other politicians, Tinubu gat no iota of integrity.

richiemcgold:
We know those who genuinely fought for this democracy. Tinubu should stop counting himself among them. He wasn't really a big figure during pro-democracy activism of military era.

Gani fawehinmi we know, so also Umar, Ajasin, Lam Adesina, Enahoro, Bola ige, students' union activists and many other Nigerians who didn't run away but stayed in the country to confront military regime of IBB and Abacha.

Where were they during the '93 crisis when many of us were jailed and rusticated from our various universities across Nigeria? Even till today, some former student leaders are still suffering for their involvements in June 12, '93 struggles.
God bless you my brother.I was involved in the struggle in Ibadan while this tyrannt called Tinubu was no where to be found. Those of us who suffered while being in Nigeria here were the real heroes.True heroism is gone. This is what makes me weep for this nation.

So because Obaseki won that mean Tinubu has sold his integrity ?

Where is this group when Obaseki deprived 14 elected law markers their constitutional right ?

That mean law makers should be abolished from our constitution then if Obaseki is justified

An open letter to Asiwaju and APC leadership

I hope this piece gets to you in good health.

I addressed this letter to you to commend the leadership of APC at the just concluded elections in Edo. For tirelessly working to the betterment of our great party (APC).

I also want to tell you how we APC social media enthusiasts and party members feel when we need to defend our great party on social media pages. Not been easy I must confess.

Sir, APC are progressives in nature and on this note I want to make some suggestions that are of benefits to Nigeria state and of greater benefits for the party at large.

It wasn't a surprise to me and many Nigerians how and why APC lost to PDP at the just concluded elections in Edo state.

I really hope the party doesn't lose more before 2023, and the big one by 2023...

I based my calculations on the gossips we hear here on social media pages.

Sir, Edo is truly not Lagos.

PDP won Edo2020 governorship Election since October 2018.

Yoruba people will say "Àdàbà pégèdè bíi pé
Ẹyẹlé ò gbó...." Respect to the Yorùbá elders.

The events of October 2018 in Lagos paved way to Obaseki’s success in 2020. To me, he did not merit the 'pity votes' he got.

I am a Nigerian and a progressive, Progressives shouldn't look at the past, we only "want it better than we met it".

APC we are here, what next?

I don't see too many politicians crisscrossing parties in any serious minded realms on this planet. Politicians cross parties in Nigeria like crossing between moving cars.
Parties moulded on different ideologies, yet Nigeria politicians don't think twice before punching exit buttons. Where is the loyalty?

How can we achieve the mandate and ideology of the party with that?

I propose as progressives, APC put some barriers in place to stop that!

Politics should be for the people in respect to the ideologies they hold.

This is achievable if we put excellence of individuals and stewardship into serious consideration and above personal interests when selecting candidates for political positions. I believe the party leadership knows better than I do.

Serious rejigging sir. Edo people voted against persons, not against the party and not against Godfatherism. They know how godfatherism works... They know they just selected new set of Godfathers.

We are progressives, we should accept defeats and move on. We have a bigger picture.
We have a mandate that Nigerians should not go back to what they voted against back 2015.

Rejigging should start from Lagos, a state of excellence. Edo should look like Lagos someday!

It's time excellence fly above personal interests. These interests maybe biased. I blame many leaders who put personal interests above benefits of the masses.

I remember some talks about the decisions to select HE governor Sanwó-Olú was above your powers. Who are these people dictating to the people? Power truly belongs to the people as shown in Edo.

With due respects I for one, accept your leadership, your progressive nature and resolute to uphold democratic principles. Asiwaju is a leader who moulds leaders. Above all, a listener.

I commend the standard of patriotism displayed in Edo. Made me believe once more in the Nigerian spirit and resolute for good governance.

I'm also concerned that the party doesn't lose the trust every party member bestowed on it.

The pains party members go through defending the APC leadership is exhausting. Please do something.

Abiodun Itunu
