Obudu Mountain Resort Looks Like Europe But Nigerians Don't Value Their Own by Nobody: 4:46pm On Sep 21, 2020 |
I was at Obudu Mountain Resort recently and had a good time. I saw some foreign people there too. The place still looks very beautiful like Europe despite low domestic patronage . Maybe they need good managers and marketing team, and a good road network connection. I've come to realize that average Nigerians just don' have the spending power ,and that's why most businesses like Resorts and shopping centers don't thrive too well . A business thrives when local and foreign consumers combine, It won't thrive if it's only patronized by foreign. Even rich Nigerians prefer to vacation abroad. The Nigerian spending power is too low and needs to be boosted before such places can thrive. The idea of resorts and national parks like Tinapa, Obudu Mountain resort, Cross river National park, etc. are great, if not for the low spending power of average Nigerian. For now, it's just a shame. 108 Likes 20 Shares

Like Europe? Not like the Amazon? Modified If anyone is interested in seeing scenic places and landscape, Europe is not the second or third choice. Australia, New Zealand, the South America and even Asia 'are' comparable and comes to mind; Obudu is a deep, and same with Amazon, (which similarly has grassland and mountains) so you can compare...that is the idea behind this remark. Really interesting that I have been referred to as having inferiority complex for such a simple assertion, question and clarification. 72 Likes 15 Shares |

othermen: This is what happens when you have serious issues with complex. Yes, to a human being with brain who appreciates nature, it is even prettier than Europe. Not even because of sentiment but from a neutral view point devoid inferiority complex. This is about nature, not technology. A human being with a working brain is more comfortable in an environment where he is treated as a human than where he is seen as a gorilla. But to a human being having issues with complex, even an European poo is more delicious than food in Nigerian eatery. Smh. 202 Likes 13 Shares |

It's actually beautiful... One of the reason why people don't visit there or whatever is because of the name... For a Nigerian who hasn't heard about this cattle ranch will always pick shoprite or somewhere else over here because the first imagine that will come to him/her is a place filled with cows and stinks of cow poop... Who will blame them... The need some marketing I have heard about the ranch but the only picture of it I have seen is that cow head at the gate Thanks Op 61 Likes 10 Shares |

Simplyleo: If anyone is interested in seeing scenic places and landscape, Europe is not the second or third choice. Australia, New Zealand, the South America and even Asia 'are' comparable and comes to mind; that is the idea behind my earlier remark. That it makes no sense to compare Obudu to Europe in that sense, and of coz you have amazing landscape there too, I mean in Europe but when folks here go to Europe, they are not going there to see landscapes. And to say it is prettier because it is Nigeria makes little sense, appreciating landscape and nature goes beyond that and one can be objective in one's judgment notwithstanding and that is what Obudu needs, objective assessment. And even you Sir, won't turn down the opportunity to move out of here. There are some who see this place as a zoo and would take their chances with being seen as a gorilla, than the challenges or threat to life, they suffer here. but again, not my point. 32 Likes 4 Shares |

That scenery of lush green rolling hills stretches right up into the mambilla and right into Cameroon! The main problem why it’s not patronised as much as it should would be the issue of security and the fact Nigerians don’t usually do holiday the way families do abroad! Our own idea of holiday is either to go abroad if you can afford it; or alternatively, iga obodo (you pack the entire family off to go visit grandma in the villa)! Obudu cattle ranch doesn’t feature in our plans unfortunately! 31 Likes 2 Shares |

This is one of the most beautiful tourism sites that I have visited and I will still visit there soon. Obudu cattle ranch is beautiful The locals are friendly The weather is wow The last time I visited we went to a Cameroonian village that shares border with Obudu community. It was Six hours journey to and fro it was tasking we climbed hills, descended into valleys, cross rivers and I saw some Baboons and Antelopes on the hills, beautiful waterfalls and nice locations that you can shoot blockbuster adventure movies. It was an interesting an intriguing experience. What bothered me was the fact that through out our journey we didn't see any security operative on the way. The boundary was only demarcated with short sticks that a 2 year old child can cross. What if terrorists penetrate through there? Visit Obudu Cattle Ranch! 46 Likes 4 Shares |

This is the handwork of a visionary former governor Donald Duke, the best governor in Nigeria since 1999. Yet he isn't celebrated because he is a simple man who doesn't engage in propaganda. 39 Likes 5 Shares |

Vyzz:Bro the issue with obudu ranch is the distance. From calabar the state capital to obudu ranch is more than 8hrs minimum. The air strip that suppose to serve that purpose and aid easy access to the ranch is non-functioning. Even with that an average Nigerian won't be able to afford such expensive adventure esp now that things r high. 19 Likes 4 Shares |
