Alright then. So what's your question? And have you been able to read this Thread from the beginning?

Cheers!

Yes! Been following this thread for a while now. Now he’s ready to visit but I want to know if the Nigerian Embassy in the US is open for visa application now. He keeps calling and gets no answer. Can he go ahead and apply online?

Hello house. Please i need an urgent answer. Can a student visit his fiance in USA from the Uk and does it have implications to their ongoing k1 visa process. Secondly if he visits from UK at the end of his masters program in UK, are their chances of him continuing to leave in the US with the fiance if he desides not to go back to UK.

He should also monitor their websites and also check the OIS offices, depending on the State where he is resident. He should be able to get updates from these sources.

All the best!

@modulus30,

Yes, he can visit his fiancee in the U.S.A., as long as he meets all the conditions necessary for a Visiting Visa.

Living in the U.S.A. after his Master's program will be dependent on the visa status he would have at that time.

Cheers!

Hi Sukey,

We are in same boat and honestly I know exactly how it feels.I filed in April and still waiting to be scheduled for biometrics.

The last time I contacted USCIS, the representative told me If i don’t receive biometrics appointment notice within 90 days of my ASC reopening I should give a call back.

Soon after the 90 days elapsed which is by next month and nothing happens, I hope they won’t have to extend it.

The best we could do now is keep waiting.
But for how long? No one truly knows.

USCIS says one thing today, it changes by tomorrow angry

Cheers

I’m telling you it’s super frustrating .. as if it’s not bad enough Some people that filed in June Already had their biometrics done Some even have gotten EAD Approval. Some Peeps that filed in April are getting interviews date alread. The whole system is just unpredictable.

Hello everyone. So my question today is:

Will having a traditional wedding disqualify is from getting the K1 Visa? My parents are insisting on a traditional wedding since they won’t be available for the white wedding when we eventually go to the US. So can we have a small traditional ceremony to make up for that. What will be the result of that? Does the embassy regard traditional wedding as being married?

That will disqualify you from getting the k1. Let's here from the elders tho.

You can do your trad but DO NOT mention it during the K1 interview. Don’t even bring or say anything that hints the fact that you are married.

Don’t term it as a traditional wedding, term it as an engagement party.I had a big party in my case and my wife even sent them receipts from various vendors that rendered services to us when she filed,I also went with pictures from the engagement party, having that will make your case more credible just make sure y’all don’t have anything to do with a registry or court for any reason

Hello everyone, I want to give update on my journey so far. It was really a long depressing journey.

RD I-765, I-485 September 12th 2019

BIO October 22th 2019

RFE Nov 12th 2019 for long birthday certificate and recent tax.

RD for RFE December 13th 2019

I called last of the week in February 2020, I can't remember the day precisely to expedite my case.

Expedite request received and evidence request was sent to me.

On the 6th of March 2020, I submitted my evidence through Fax.

My case was denied outrightly on March 13th 2020 due to not submitted the recent tax for 2018.

I filed for MTR, with tax 2018, 2019. RD April 7th 2020.

September 9th 2020 MTR was reopened and approved with I-765.

The card was sent and delivered on 13th September 2020.

The waiting time is crazy but it will surely come. Hang on there guys.

Wow! Congratulations
It was a long wait with setbacks that yielded great result.

I honestly feel it was unfair for USCIS to deny your applications in March without giving you Notice of intent to deny.

People are saying that they don't issue Notice of Intent to Deny if they have already sent you RFE.

My advise to you is don't even bring up anything concerning your traditional marriage, also even in your social media. If you can change your facebook settings to block anyone that isn't your friend from viewing If you have trad pictures there

Because depending on the consular officer some might be adamant on the fact that it is a traditional marriage which is a customary marriage in our culture and it is termed "married".and you know our traditional marriage the man and the woman wear same outfit and all that stuff that goes with it.

I am not saying don't get traditionally married but it should never come up during your interview nor when they do their search because when you fill the ds160 you will submit all your social media accounts names.

Madam or oga. Please read my whole post again and note that paragraph means I am not imposing anything on the person, also because I understand their parents opinion. No parent don't wanna be able to attend their kids marriage. Visa or not.
Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by Nobody: 11:10am On Oct 08, 2020
The first step in the visa application is the filling of a petition using the form I-129F by your US citizen fiancee whom you must have met in person. The filled form is submitted to USCIS at their US address. If the petition is approved, it is sent to the NVC who in turn sends it to the US Embassy here in Lagos.

My fiancée is coming to Nigeria in January and we would be meeting for the first time. Would she file the petition and submit in the states before she comes or she will do it once she comes to Naija ?

Because I’m guessing she might need to attach our pictures snapped together in the petition ?

She will file the petition when she returns back to the U.S.
