Unfortunately, this is not 100% correct. If it was true, agents wouldn’t exist.

Airlines typically offer agents bulk seats at discounted prices not available on their websites because they have the reach and can often attract the numbers required. These discounted tickets would normally have some sort of restrictions and it is a way for them to push sales especially when they’re struggling to put bums on seats.

As an individual, you can’t buy more than say <365 tickets a year assuming you travel every day of the year. Which is pretty much impossible. An agent can sell that in a matter of hours/days hence the exclusive deals they get. It’s pretty standard and makes business sense.

.

This is false, airlines can sale any amount of ticket directly from their website stressfree, they don’t necessarily need agents to help them do that.

Agents were more useful prior to internet and smart phone invention. Vast majority of travelers will do perfectly well without an agent something that is almost impossible yes ago.

In all business dealings when you buy in bulk you get discount, this is not peculiar to ticket booking agents. Airlines also do these discounts on their websites

You are well-versed when it comes to immigration advice and your counsel here has been invaluable. But for Pete’s sake, admit that you are not entirely right on this particular one and let it go. C’mon!
I personally got my ticket much cheaper than what was reflecting on the airline website. No one is advocating for the use of licensed agencies everytime. No one is positing that discounted fares are only available through agencies.

We’re saying SOMETIMES a traveler can get much cheaper bookings through agencies. What is so difficult to understand in that point?

Anybody knows how easy it is and the cost to get to Sunderland from London?

Try national express, they have a station at Heathrow Terminal 5 especially if you are carrying loads and they alway have stops close to universities in many cities in the UK. They are cheaper than train.

Who told you that I will not be able to get the same ticket cheaper or at the same price from other airlines ?

Licensed or not agents are generally the same.

Well, since you insist on this posit, I guess there is something special you know as regards how to dig down to thee discounted prices directly with these airlines. It will be kind of you to share such knowledge to us all here

Asides this, it is logical that wholesale customers get huge discounts that can even afford them to beat unit prices below company's own price.

I worked at an FMCG and I knew shoprite sold our products at a unit price below company's RRP. They could afford that cos they get massive rebates at the end of the month due to the volumes

No matter what you say he will still say otherwise. In the U.K. is cheaper to buy on airlines website maybe that’s why he’s strong on his opinion. In Nigeria, it’s different. Agencies here offer you cheaper sometimes. When I’m in other countries I book directly on airlines website because it’s easier. But if I’m booking from Nigeria, I check likes of wakanow & travelstart too. It’s just different perceptions. Let the matter go. He never likes to be wrong. Actually no one like to be wrong hehehe

I think this is the missing part..... what works in one country might work differently in others.

In Europe most people buy directly from the airline but in Nigeria you do see agencies that have some discount given to them. It happens.....the price I seen people quoting here for BA. Just go yourself to BA website you will see it much higher

Same way usually with standardized exams it usually the price on the website but in nigeria I have seen agencies register SAT or GRE for less. That typical wont be seen if you register in America .I am not a fan of agencies but in some cases they are given special discount

That maybe true but those discounted tickets are also available on airline websites if you know what you are doing. Generally nothing you get from agent that will be cheaper than the original source worldwide

I don't agree because I know it's not do but we can agree to disagree.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by ChicFashion(f): 11:09am On Sep 24, 2020
No, it will not be on the airlime website. I work for an airline. They are called backend deals, a few agents have them because of the volume of their transactions. They get up to 25% off published fares( fares u see on the website) . The agent can then decide to give the you the customer at a discount or keep the discount for himself.

In summary, YES. Top agents can sell cheaper tickets than is on airline website. Some of them even have exclusive deals which no one has.

Please lets focus on visas. I am expecting mine soon

Even in America, they give discounted tickets. In fact, more people book through agencies than directly on their website than in Nigeria.

I remember when I missed my flight and had to purchase a ticket from Us back to Naija, The websites were a good $500 more than what I got via ticket agents.

From London Heathrow, take the underground train to kings cross station (train) or London Victoria (bus). From these stations you can get direct link to Newcastle. Then from Newcastle central, take the local metro towards South Hylton, straight to Sunderland metro or the station closest to your house. Very straightforward. In terms of cost, national express bus or mega bus from London Victoria is cheaper. One way from £10 if you book earlier. For train, maybe from £30!if you get the £30 railcard. Without railcard it can cost up to £70. Check Trainline of accurate prices pls.

Chai! For a newbie like me, how will I be able to find my way

Are you aware of regulatory body? Icao, caa and others control the airlines and it can't be only them doing it. There are procedures. Please just stop arguing doesn't seem smart.

I think national Express has now opened stops in heathrow as well... so going all the way to Victoria might not be necessary and can be stressful if you have heavy luggages

Not sure what airline you are using. If it BA then it's always terminal 5. Check national express they might leave from terminal 5 .... if its other airline and its terminal 3. I think national Express also have a stop in Heathrow central bus station

True! Anytime I have to book from Nigeria, the agencies are my best bet when there isn't the luxury of time; but when booking well ahead in advance, I buy directly from the airlines since it's generally cheaper when booked like 6 months before the trip. I've only ever used Wakanow and TravelStart so can't say much about the others.
It's cheaper booking for a Nig-UK trip from the UK even with not so much time to spare. Did that for someone last year and it was much cheaper than advertised on the airline's website.

Also getting someone to make the booking from the UK while payment is made in Naira at the airline's office is another way of getting a good deal.

Everyone should just shop around for the best fares (airlines and agents) and if buying from an agent, read the Ts and Cs of the tickets they are buying to ensure that they don't end up paying more if they need to amend their tickets.

Hello Folks,
Please which bank is at the moment responding promptly to tuition payment request via Form A. An idea of their GBP rate will also be helpful. Thanks
