Evening great scholar and prof wip7, I appreciate all those who have been providing selfless service in this forum in other we are exposed to research. Plz kindly help me review my motivation letter for PhD scholarship application. Thanks. MOTIVATION LETTER FOR PHD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION My interest in science is a direct consequence of a childhood desire to solve the world challenges especially my country Nigeria and the desire to understand the world around me, this passion for science make me to opt for science class at the high school where I was exposed to various science subject ranging from physics, biology, chemistry, e.t.c. My interest in utilization and energy recovery of organic waste was planted during my industrial training at federal institute of industrial research Oshodi, Lagos (FIRRO) where I was posted to department of chemical fibre and environmental technology, during my stay I was expose to various research area on energy recovery and utilization from organic waste ,such as production of pulp and paper from underutilized agricultural waste, also I was involved in the development and production of antiseptic soap from neem oil, extraction of essential oil from orange peel for production of mosquito repellant also, I was involve in extraction of potash from cocoa pod as source of alternative material for soap production. In line with my burgeoning interest in energy recovery and agricultural waste as an alternative raw material, my undergraduate B.TECH thesis was on utilization of brewery spent grain as alternative adsorbent in removal of pollutant in Nigeria petroleum product, objective of this study was production of activated carbon from agricultural waste. This passion was also fueled during my experience during my internship at eagle package as a quality control and assurance at eagle package where various waste generated at each production unit was recycle and reuse as new feed for production. The above desire push me to pursue the master‘s degree In Environmental Chemistry in preparation for a career in environmental science and green technology, which I was very passionate about prior to graduate studies at Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomosho Nigeria, however, coursework, research and interdisciplinary interaction during my master program exposed me to the enormous potentials embedded in environmental chemistry and its applicability in fields ranging from environmental monitoring, health risk assessment, green technology and organic waste treatment and energy recovery .my degree in chemistry and Mtech in environmental chemistry provide a dynamic platform through with I can navigate into other discipline with little or no limitation. The keen interest in energy recovery from organic waste and the slogan acquire RRR (reuse, recycle and recovery) during my master push me to lead a team of young researcher on a project in production of biogas and treatment of animal waste prior to use as manure on crops. It will be a dream come true to be taught by an outstanding faculty and outstanding research team to have a Broad-view of knowledge on this subject matter in a suitable and supportive teaching and learning environment ,in particular, the opportunity to join in Queen university especially environment bioreactor lab at the Department of Chemical Engineering which also prides herself of several state of art facilities available for teaching, learning and research which also made one of the best Ranked university in the world. Additionally getting enrolled in this progamme will also give me an opportunity to meet, interact with vibrant international graduate student’s communities from different related fields, I do believes this will further exposed me to a well-rounded preparation for a successful future career. Conclusively, upon my return to my country, I believe strongly that the skills and knowledge this programme would have imparted into me will put me on a sound footing in becoming a leading academic in this filed, and also help to bridge the gap research and practice in my country. 2 Likes 1 Share

chem58: Yes quite important to ensure the plagiarism is minimal. Another important point; if you have any paper published in those fields mention it to drive your point deeper. Example you can write: “I have experience with resources recovery; particularly I developed metal-organic nanowhiskers in 2016. A series of laboratory experiments were conducted to prove that this novel material can effectively recover trace gold from Ajegunle coastal water; the results of this study have been recently published in Water Research Journal.” Best wishes 9 Likes 2 Shares |

nams77: In my point of view Environmental quality and Management (EQM) is not restricted when compared with Petroleum and Environmental Microbiology (PMB) . EQM: I strongly believe in a good university, Master program in EQM will focus on courses and research in the areas of climate, water, soil, ecology, energy efficiency, waste treatment/control/reuse/management, raw materials recovery, sustainability as well as some economics and law. Meaning during your EQM research, you may decide to even take up research on advanced technologies for managing or treatment of petroleum wastes or microbial treatment of wastes. After graduation from EQM you have opportunities in wider PhD options. PMB: This seems restricted only to petroleum and microbiology so as your main and minor research will revolve around this. PhD option will be limited when compared with EQM. Disclaimer This is my personal view based on international experience in the field of research and academics, exposure and business experience. This view may not be applicable to many local/national settings and not based on religion, political or superstition codes. Best wishes in your decision. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

wip7:Thank you so much Sir. My position aligned with yours but my concern stems from the comment a lady lecturer made off-handedly. She asked why I didn't want to follow through with the microbiology pursuit ( MSc), That it will help if I decide to pick up lecturing. Do you think doing EQM instead of PMB will dampen my chances of becoming a lecturer? Thank you sir and please forgive my writing. No mind my funny question 1 Like |

nams77: Lecturer where? this should be based on the continent, country and location you want to become lecturer and your immediate goal for next 5 years and goal for next 30 years if you are currently less than 80 years now. You will need to think; if you will be based in Nigeria as an example, you have to check how many universities are currently offering programs in your proposed master field. If you can find a good number distributed regionally then means chances of getting a job may be higher. So if your permanent location or next 5 years lecturing will be based in Nigeria and they have many universities in Nigeria studying Microbiology then you can go for it. For example, in Nigeria banking and Finance is a very common course almost where almost all universities offer this program ........but in several countries, I have lived, lectured or visited they dont do this course. Common related course is often economics, international finance and MIS so these set of people work in banks in these places. Developed countries and real developing countries are currently or have been applying artificial intelligence in almost all field leading to massive development and scaling up start-ups......I have not actually read about a university in Nigeria offering programs in this field maybe until 100 years to come. So if someone have Msc and PhD in artificial intelligence such person will be hotcake abroad but cold or no cake in Nigeria for now in terms of lecturing. So consider your local environment, immediate goals, 15 years targets as main parameters and set aside changing world and advancement as a variable to reach your conclusion. It actually came down to choosing between the University of London (SOAS) and the University of Warwick. I share the particular factors that I considered such as money (yes money), supervision, rankings, location, and job prospects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP4vUsf8MIM |

Twizzy90: Why do you write here that Turnitin is the best plagiarism checker? have you compared Turnitin performance with other 150 existing software for plagiarism and reached this conclusion? For me I have compared it with 10 others. As a real academic if you guys are; to make any claim you must be able to proof and have practical evidence to support your claims. Take note: I am not disputing Turnitin being great to check plagiarism but stop saying its the best. Quillbot: this is not plgiarism remover; its AI-powered software that paraphrases your texts, and in technical science it may not be appropriate for technical terms. Example: Quillbot changes "a stable photocurrent density" to " a robust photocurrent density" ..........in technical term robust cannot be used for photocurrent as it totally means different things. We also provide dissertation and article writing services at affordable fee. In this thread, we encourage students, researchers, lecturers, teachers and instructors to write their theses/dissertation themselves so they are able to defend their degrees. Any students that outsourced his/her thesis out is not worthy to hold the degree. That's why you see a minister or commissioner of power with a degree in electrical and power engineering but cannot provide any meaningful solution to power crisis nor even knows the differences between transformer and converter since both of them converts the voltage current. If such a person does the research work and writing; many things will be discovered along the line; its unethical and fraudulent to write a thesis for a student. We help researchers publish their papers in high indexed journals without any payment or publication fee. Remember, the slogan "publish or perish". You help researchers publish in high indexed journals sound like a joke to me. Who will be the corresponding author? you or the researcher? since the corresponding author must submit the paper with his/her email account details. For instance, one of my current works is on gold nanoparticles embeded polymeric whiskers for cancer cell targetting; if you help me to submit this studies to a journal and the journal sends a revision who will reply all the comments from the reviewers? you that don't have 1% knowledge about my work or who you will hire to respond? It is very absurd and fraudulent to make this claim of publishing for someone in high-indexed journals. I am sure you really dont know what high indexed journals mean and neither do you have a proper understanding of the academic world. In this forum, we encourage all researchers to do their research work, publish their work, and participate. What this forum is about is for people to ask questions when they are stuck during the research, so experienced researchers and academics can supply comments and suggestions. For Nigeria to grow to prominence researchwise, lots of people need to be honest and modest. The one you helped to write a thesis and publish paper will turn out to be a commissioner of education soon....so what do you expect? Such a person cant contribute to educational development in that state or country since he/she is a fraud. 16 Likes 2 Shares |
