UNITY ROAD: GOVERNOR WIKE DECRIES SLOW PACE OF WORK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiUuA7Y0XyU

..... Assures of his commitment to complete the Project

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work by the contractor handling the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road.

Governor Wike made his feelings known during an inspection tour of the Road today in company of some members of the State Executive Council.

The Governor said over eighty percent of the contract sum for the project had been paid to the contractor.

"We have paid over 80 percent of the contract sum and we expect that at least the Opobo axis of the Road ought to have been completed.

"I am not also happy with the level of work at the Andoni axis of the Road which links Ngo and Ikuru Towns.

"On our part, we are committed to complete the long abandoned project to enable the people of Opobo and Andoni travel to their homes by Road.

"Let me appeal to the contractor to expedite work on the Road .I can assure you that funding will not be a hindrance to the completion of the project.

"For me, this is a signature project that has been abandoned for so many decades now. But my administration will make history by completing it.

"We cannot run away from our responsibility. We must make sure that the people of Opobo and Andoni drive home by Road.

"There is quite a lot to be done because of the terrain, but that should not be an excuse on the side of the contractor.

"The contractor has assured us that by December this year, the Opobo axis of the Road will be completed while the Andoni axis which will link Ngo and Ikuru Towns will be completed in March next year.

"I will not accept any further excuses. That is why the contractor must expedite work and mobilize more resources to ensure that the project is delivered.

"Government is willing to pay the outstanding amount so that the people can drive to their homes," he stated.

Responding, the Managing Director of Raffoul Nigeria Limited, Mr. Elias Raffoul assured the Governor that the Opobo axis of the Road would be completed by December this year.

He also stated that the Andoni axis of the road would be delivered by March, 2021.

Governor Wike also inspected the Bori Zonal Hospital to see the extent of work done.

Imagine!

I want to believe that the contractor is not as educated as the governor that gave him the contract. Governor Wike is a man that we fear and respected all over the country but his recent inability to realize that delay is not denial is really surprising.

The fact that the project is being delayed is enough reason to know that it will be of higher quality and not substandard. Slow and steady win the race. Patience is the key Mr Governor.

Besides, it's just a road project and according to Martin Luther King, he said if you can't fly then walk. If the people of the communities can't walk on the present state of the road construction I humbly think they should fly instead rather than walking.

Dictator...

Padi Padi contract.

Of course, we know the project will be abandoned, like others. Pretending to be chiding his padi padi contractors to impress and deceive his gullible supporters, the enemies of Nigeria. .

Watch them hail him to high heavens grin

Things need to change in this country really, contractors really need those sanctions, as long as they are not guilty of getting kickbacks , sanction them

Sparogatively, Wike is extroversial and a little bit controversial.

He talks about what he does and wants to do. He definitely is not overrated.
According to Nigeria's standard he is a working governor and truly he delivers on his famed promises.

Bros Wike claimed 80% of funds has been released for the project so why the delay?

at least with funds released some significant progress should be seen.

also remember projects have specific deadlines which the contactors claim they meet... so why the delay?

Before contract negotiations should be finalized, l believe there is timeframe or duration that the construction is expected to be completed, otherwise Wike won't threaten to sanction the company, in other words he's even being very responsible with the construction follow up, if only buhari can follow up all signed agreements like wike does.

Raffaul Company will never deliver any project on time. The Peter Odili - Woji - Akpajo road took 5 years to be completed and the quality of work is below standard. Major repair work is currently being carried out on the road.
If not for bribery and corruption, i wonder why anyone in his right senses will give a job to this inexperienced Arab company.
