Well, to be fair, that's two decent showings so far from Osigwe now in the Swiss Super League. He keeps this up and Rohr will definitely look his way in the coming months. But shaa.... He looks at fault for the first goal they conceeded. Also, his positioning for the second goal was poor. Osigwe may be decent in certain moments with a few saves here and there but he still gives me Akpeyi vibes.
But we won't ignore him for long if he keeps manning goal for Lugano in the Super League. I still rate Uzoho, Okoye and Yakubu ahead of him. Even Alampasu gets my nod ahead of Osigwe.

Meanwhile, Young Yakubu chop three today. The lad was shaky today shaa but overall, he is still a very good prospect. Just a bad day in the office.

Yakubu was not shaky.

What would you say of the goals conceded by Osigwe? Osigwe is the definition of shaky.

You just won #500,000 guaranteed sum on WWTBAM. Well done! You took the answer right out of his fingers.

So predictable.

I believe if Ajagun is from the so called places where "football talent" can "ONLY" be found in Nigeria (as I was made to believe here), he would have gotten call up(s) by the men in the affairs of Nigerian football.

Afterall, players from Norway, Denmark, etc can easily make the team because they are considered ballers. The joke is on you both.

Lol... I mentioned Osigwe's faults naa. His team may have drawn today but he was really terrible for the goals conceeded. As for Yak, well, I refer to the penalty he gave away. He picked up a yellow as well. Yak is still a more decent Goalie than Osigwe for me.

I Pick Only The Best Players – Gernot Rohr

Courtesy: Oma Akatugba

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr released a 25-man squad last week as the Nigerian senior national team are set to battle the Desert Foxes of Algeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. Ahead of the friendlies slated for Austria, Rohr has invited new players into the squad including five new players earning a callup for the first time.

The new players invited were; Matthew Yakubu from (SKF Sered), Samson Tijani (Hartberg), Frank Onyeka (Midjtylland), Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto), and Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow). In an interview with Daily Times, Rohr had intimated he will invite only the best players to the squad for every game. While some Nigerians have disagreed with some of his selections, and for his non-inclusion of home-based players, the coach explained why they may not get a look-in.

There are also insinuations that agents have a hand in the selection of players for the national team, a claim the coach rebuffed immediately.

”With the experience I have, I don’t have any problem (with agents). They all know I have nothing to do with money and all of that means there’s no influence possible, no pressure. I only take the best ones.

”I speak with my staff, picking players causes a lot of arguments, I speak with my assistant coaches, medical staff and I make my choice. Agents don’t influence my choice. On what (home-based) players need to do to make the team;

”They need to play, be in the CHAN team which is at first the A-team of Nigerian players. They need to show quality. Coach of the CHAN team is my assistant and together we take players. We’ve taken more than 22 or 23 from CHAN but immediately after they sign in Europe. That’s why there’s a big pressure. Everybody wants to make money, bring them to the Super Eagles because professional clubs in Europe and Asia will see them. At first, you have to play well. I have had Ezenwa in my list, he did well in the country and in the CHAN team and so many others who are everywhere in the world. There are so many others who have done well. Problem is they aren’t playing for a long time to find the rhythm and the infrastructures are very bad. There are no good playing conditions. It’s not easy for the players on synthetic pitches and with long travels.

”I look at the U-20 all the time and I have the best ones from them with me to give them motivation, the chance. I have the U-17 captain now in Salzburg, Samson Tijani. He’s on Hartberg on loan and they are in Europe. I’ll also follow what he’s doing. ”We are in touch with these young players. This is the future. The right thing is to choose the best and of course, help the future by giving a chance to the young.”

Zaidu and Ejuke call are justifiable but I would like to know about players selected over a Laliga player.

Is this not the same person that rubbished a player who scored more goals in the turkish league because he wants to justify the call of a player who scored lesser in the EPL?

Like I said, if Ajagun was from the so called places where football talent can be found in Nigeria (as I was made to believe) , being the only AM from that has played consistently in a top club and leagues, dude would have been called many times.

For the past 3/4 seasons Nwakaeme have been a regular goal scorer in Turkey with only 1 invite to show for it, does that mean he's not igbo enough? Are you trying to say Azeez being excluded from this particular set of friendlies is because he's not igbo? Make it make sense please

Ramon is still a part of the team. I trust he will likely make the main teamlist for the Qualifiers in November. These ones for October are Friendlies and it's a good chance to view a few top prospects. That is where Onyeka and Tijani come in. Tijani sef is as a rookie prospect just like Osimhen was. You should understand that.

But as for Onyeka, it is to assess what he can add to the team since Ndidi obviously has no stable replacement/Stand-in and Frank Onyeka is being touted as a possible Ndidi Backup due to their similar playing styles in certain game aspects as DMs.

Also, the coach was majorly addressing invites from the local league and not just from the Euro leagues. There are people who try to attack Rohr for not having enough home-based players in the team and that is what his words in the article address at length.

Nwakeame is a winger. Who do you want to bench for him?

How come you were not talking about a player who did better in Laliga?

All I saw you did was pull out stats to justify the call up of a player from obscure league.
