Simply put, there is none like fela!
Abami eda would have challenged the the self serving, sadistic tyrant.

Even though I was all here yesterday evening, commending Burna boy, but really, if all these clowns and entertainers who call themselves activists are placed on historical scale or judged by real standard, all of them would be found wanting.
That is why I spit on ignorant people and shallow fans all over the world who go about regarding entertainers as legends. The word 'legend' is one of the most abused words in recent decades.
The world we live in now, is so much filled with ass lickers who rather follow the crowd than think for themselves.

What's legendary about an overpampered entertainer kicking leather ball around on a field or a froggy who sings blantant crap on the mic?

Fela wasn't that succulent-skinned boy, with a Saxophone inbetween his lips, blowing away crappy sounds to an audience of dumb people. NO.
This is someone who got his ass whooped real bad, many times by the government, in jail and hunger. He used his music to fight for the masses in a dangerous political era. Even while his life was at stake most times, he never stopped fighting.

None of these clowns called entertainers can do 1/100th of this.
it's clear you don't know the meaning of legend

legend mustn't be a freedom fighter, there are legends in different fields, we have legends in football, did they lead any protest? burna boy mustn't also

although, burna boy is not yet a legend to me

Let us be satisfied that he is singing about the injustice in his society. That’s way more than many people are willing to do.

Not everyone will express themselves the way you would.

March in your protest, and he would compose his music.

Sango was a royal ancestor of the Yoruba as he was the third king of theOyo Kingdom. He succeeded Ajaka, son of Oranmiyan. His symbol is a double-headed axe, which represents swift and balanced justice. ... In another set of stories, Sango is the son of Aganju and Obatala.

Yes you are very right
No matter the one singing good music's he can only do so to get more fame and likeness from so called fans and just be somewhere enjoying
Is wealth, they never face any trial for the people or protest for any revolution.cause they know their career is at stake.so therefore calling a musician a legend is just a mics expert and a minds blowing lyricists not a real life hero like those we have once have in the past, that they can actually do what they say,not these ones that swallow their own vomit like a hungry dog.

Because he failed in the presidential election doesn't mean he wouldn't continue what he has been doing before now. At least his protesting & fighting the gov to do the right thing for the Nigeria ppl. Sometimes i wonder how ppl like you can type such words about him without thinking deep on why he does what his doing now. On the case of bringing buhari into power, stop that childish talk. Just like buhari, you & every other Nigerians are always quick to put blame on another for your failure. Was his news platform the only one that air buhari's presidential campaign? Or did what he said about Jonathan lies? Face the fact buhari & his administration fooled the entire Nigerians with their fake promises.

Join in the protest if you want a better Nigeria because that is what sowore has been fighting for all his life.

This isn't the first time. There would always be two or more kids lurking somewhere on Nairaland who feel you're ignorant, and the need for them to school you. Even when the point you made is clear enough, they would jump on every opportunity to engage you in an argument.
Owning a dictionary isn't a difficult task, I also have one, so spare me all the explanation.
Perhaps the colloquial and contextual misuse of the word 'legend' warranted the expansion of it's meaning in the dictionary.
In a sane day, legend would have never been used for a successful clown who entertains people. That is why like I said, the word legend is highly misused.

WoundedLamb:

Anybody can be a legend in any field, dude. The word is not reserved for those who really suffered or worked hard for their country. The English word "legend" simply means an extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field. You can be pampered and still be a music legend. I get your point though. I just needed to put it out there that being legendary isn't about your hardwork or contributions but about how famous you are and how much people talk about you.
Going by the dictionary meaning, you might be right, but going by the context of my post, I'm afraid not. But it's perfect since you get the point and context of the post.

We need young and Vibrant leaders.
Thank you Sowere for making a move.
Re: October 1: Sowore Challenges Burna Boy To Join #RevolutionNow Protest by Adakintroy: 5:26pm On Sep 29, 2020
Leave Burnaby boy. Many musicians are poet..they see the world in colours..everything is imaginary. Don't expect anything from them.

Sowore was comparing to fela to see if there is a literal fight or justice in him. Dude was talking in another direction. He could not understand stand the comparison was to draw out something in him if it's there. Some use their fame to push for the real issues. others, just happy and contended they attain it. Fela did not see fame or recognition as an end in itself. Otherwise he would have stop there. It was a means of attaining something in real time. Often stepping from the confine of musical imaging to reality.

The difference between fela and the rest including 2face is that. He often left the safety of home(music) into the real world to participate with the sufferers..not just sing about it.

No other person is stepping up to the challenge, me I appreciate his effort in trying to fight this government cos they've really put us through hell, meanwhile our celebrities are having the blast of their life, then when they're old, them go ask public to help them with one thing or the other

Our celebrities can cause a revolution if they choose to use their voice for the right cause
