You can open account in USD, TL and other currencies in Cyprus. You can tranfer your money to your Cyprus accounts provided your money in Nigeria is in USD, Euro or pounds.

Hello guys, I just got scholarship to study SOFTWARE ENGINEERING in a university in Cyprus, RAUF DENKTAS UNIVERSITY actually. I tried to get some information about the school online but was only able to get limited information about the school online (even the school buildings sef, was seeing different images claiming to be of the school)
Please is there anyone here who's studying in that uni.

This is a new university opened around 2017 and named after the long-term former president of Northern Cyprus. I personally know and worked with the currenct rector of the university, he was former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at EMU.

I have a good knowledge of software engineering and I have been vice dean of the faculty of Engineering also before, so my personal advise is that course like Software Engineering should be better studied in older universities like Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) which is well equipped with facilities and practically experienced intellectuals to handle this course. For now RSD is relatively young and would need some more years to boast of similar facilities at EMU and others. However, EMU is more expensive which is like 4700$ per year and the most ranked and highly reputable University in TRNC competing with various global universities where RSD could be lot cheaper and younger. Since RSD is relatively new, you dont expect them to have same facilities like EMU, CIU or NEU etc.

RSD will be much better for now for social science courses, arts and Tourism since these ones need less facilities...for now!

And I also heard that Cyprus degrees certificate are only recognized in Turkey (pls how true is that). Thanks in advance for your response

This is CAPITAL FALSE.

If the 800 TL excludes accommodation... then is more than enough.

So let me do a quick breakdown of what the 800 TL will do for you monthly considering you. This analysis will be based for one person using average current price:

Bread Local bread 3 tl – Agege bread 15 tl
Milk 1ltr 8.0 tl
Eggs 15 pack, 30 tl
Cheese Cathedral 200g, 12– 15 tl
Jam from 15 tl
Rice 1000g white from 15 tl
Pasta 500 g from 7 tl
Butter 227g from 15 tl
Fruits cereal from 30 tl
Full chicken (old layers) from 40 tl
Beans 500 gr from 15 tl
Telephone service monthly from 75 tl student package
Internet at home monthly from 75 tl

So for one month; as a single student I will multiply the major food by 5.
rice 5kg = 60 tl
beans 2.5 kg = 60 tl
eggs 30 eggs = 60 tl
Vegetable oil 2 lt (enough even you are cooking akara/kose) = 16 tl
Milk 10 lt = 80 tl
Chicken 3 full chicken = 120 tl
Tomatoes, pepper, onion (you can buy enough, grind and put in the fridge) = 100 tl
Internet and phone = 150 tl

Above is for an average student not the one that plays betting, not the one that smokes, drinks and do other things. Also, take note; this price is average considering the major supermarket of Famagusta. The price may slightly fluctuates based on your location and exchange rate. This is valid as at the time of posting.

All these prices; you can easily find them on the internet; the major supermarkets are called Lemar, Erülkü etc. they do have sites for products and prices.

Best wishes

tnx @wip

Your 800TL is 39,665.76

According to Today Rate On XE but I’m sure you will buy in TRNC at 68 to 1 Naira!. That’s too little compare to the cost of living here. If this is what you can afford monthly I advise you don’t come. No Jobs , Don’t let agents of darkness deceive you! If you don’t have very stable income maybe in Nigeria and ready to study. Don’t come !

Just an advise
thank you wat do you think will sustain a student per month excluding accommodation and note I don’t smoke or drink alcohol

Free you don’t pay.

My students that arrived 3 days ago were just sent to quarantine center and enjoying free food for now and the previous ones finished quarantine and started registration...

Very important for travelers

I recently noticed for some of the students that travelled last night, the airline officials at the airport in Nigeria have issues with Maths and English.

To be on the safest side and to avoid flight distruption; ensure the sample collection date for Covid-19 test falls within the 120 hrs allowed by TRNC In your PCR results.

Hi,

Arrived North Cyprus from Nigeria on Monday, we are currently on Quarantine at Salamis Bay Conti Hotel in Gazimagusa and it's absolutely free. Covid-19 Test Report is highly important at the Airport, they check again before boarding to Ercan and check again on Arrival at Ercan Airport before proceeding to Passport Control. When you are stamped in, you pick up your luggage and get in a bus already provided to head to the Quarantine location.

Your COVID-19 Test should be done at most 48 hours before boarding the flight so that the result will still be valid by the time you arrive.
