What Do You Love About Nigeria? by emkz: 6:17am On Oct 01, 2020 |
As our country clocks 60 today, let's try and think a little about the things that make us beautiful as a people and as a country. Let us list the things we love about Nigeria to be thankful and be hopeful. I will go first (and let's have fun with this, its not everyday we should be reading bad things about deaths, dying and corruption): I love the lush greenery of Nigeria. I like the resilience of Nigerians. I love the diversity and rich culture of Nigeria (no country in the world can boast of 250 ethnic groups and 521 languages). I like the fact that Nigeria reaches the precipice but never collapses. I like the way Nigerians treat foreigners that they refuse to leave. I admire the pride of Nigerians. Nigeria is one country that forces you to be independent and don't care too much about what the government does because the government does nothing. Nigeria is the only country when the plane is descending, you are confronted with the Nigerian breeze. How can I forget the luscious women luxuriatingly rich in assets, colour and glamour? Not to forget the Jollof rice and the weddings! Nigeria prepares you for the world: waking up at 4 am to commute to work at 5.30 am and returning at 9 pm, studying without electricity, walking long distances to school. I would never have liked to incarnate in any other country. Happy 60 years to Nigeria!!! |

csn01: Nigeria gave me one of the cheapest education in the world. Nigeria offers one of the best, yet cheapest medical trainings worldwide. Nigeria contributed troops to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Mali. Nigeria gave me a scholarship, a job and arable soil for my father to farm and feed us. Nigeria gave me a wife. Nigeria gave jobs to Lebanese, Indians and Chinese. Think a little about it, you'd see that there is something to be grateful for. When I was away from Nigeria, I missed Nigeria. Think dear brother. A time shall come when we shall celebrate October 1st like Christmas! 2 Likes 1 Share |

csn01:You said, and I quote "......has anything good comes out of this country?..." If you were Dangote or Adeleke or Otedola, you won't spew out such trash. Don't generalise nxt time. Speak for yourself. |

TheRealProphet:I should speak for myself alone, and you think that is the way forward? Is that how to get what the masses need, by speaking for myself alone? Madam, go outside your house/ Palace, trek for like 10 minutes, and tell me the life people around your apartment/estate/mansion are living. |

csn01:I ain't rich neither am I poor. But, I will never open my mouth and say "has any good comes out of this country" My mum gave birth to me in this country, and I rate myself as a good citizens from NIGERIA... A.j, Oshimeh, Chukwueze, Mikel, Ndidi are Nigerians, they are examples of the answer to ur question "Has any good comes out of this country" I can list 100 men/women that have done this country proud outside Nigeria. Again, SPEAK FOR YOURSELF! |

A village just got burnt down by the army, we have idps littered all over the country, you are not safe on the highways, if you get kidnapped, it's left for you and your family to negotiate as there is no governmental support, a sizable chunk of the budget would be used to pay loans, Lagos - ibadan expressway hasn't been completed and it's 5 years already, why? Because it wasn't handled by the Chinese. This is not a country, like the name implies, this is just a place negros exist. You probably don't live in Nigeria where life is the cheapest commodity, way cheaper than a bag of rice. |

Okay, lets shake things up a bit. I am not rich in terms of excess money, but I want to give someone 20k or two persons 10k or 4 people 5k each if they can genuinely tell us ten good things about our nation. Nobody is bankrolling me oh. Who wants to take the challenge? I will sell my iPad to fund this gesture. |
