Seems to me that only those not in Edo state saw it that way. Oba did not campaign for APC or PDP, in fact he spoke wisely to all of them.
In that same clip, he told Oshiomhole to be like Oyegun rather than behaving in such way that will make people to start disrespecting him.

If the Oba was partisan, the media would not have praised him for being a good father who wants the best of all.

If truly you are interested in knowing more, you need to wash the full video where the Oba touched all angles.

He was talking to Phillip Shaibu like he is one of his scepter beaters in the palace- that is the deputy governor of the state- no respect at all. Constitutionally the Oba is a subject of the governor and the deputy - Now I see why Ganduje deposed Sanusi as Emir of Kano, sometimes these bloated egos of archaic traditional rulers need to be cut to size

But God has put all of them to shame and here he is telling Wike not to become a god father in Edo, as if Wike is not richer than Obaseki, the Oba and Edo State put together. Can you compare Rivers to Edo in terms of resource allocation and derivation? what does Wike need Edo for when he has Rivers ? I am a Benin person and I have always spoken well of the Oba in this forum but I will be wrong and my conscience will not forgive me if i don’t call him out on this -

The Oba was not fair to Obaseki at all and he was very partisan days leading to the election - He was busy talking down Deputy Governor Shaibu, saying “I use to call you my son, but I don’t think I can call you my son again... they say you are the one who is rugged, bla bla bla”

The Oba was busy attacking Shaibu on hearsay (rumors) and he failed to equally warn Ize Iyamu to tell his foot soldiers like Kabaka to let peace reign when there are video evidence littered all over the internet where Tony Kabaka was addressing Ize Iyamu that they are the lions and tigers with Ize Iyamu saying “some of you are so DANGEROUS that you will move from one ward to another and even from one local government area to another”

At a point towards the end of that video the Oba was trying to argue with Obaseki by asking Obaseki not to say anything about the allegations from the Oshomole camp, that he is not interested in details of anything - WOW , that looks like a king compromised already. How can you call 2 warring parties to a peace meeting and you are accusing one party of being wrong and you do not want to hear the other side you are accusing ? that means you have taken sides already and that’s not an attribute of good leadership

What a double standard- If the Oba could be that partisan in the open - I wonder what he was doing privately to undermine Obaseki’s re- election



The Oba should please keep quiet and stop heating the polity with unguarded utterances
