Is Saudi Arabia using naira. Is Saudi Arabia refineries not working. Is Saudi Arabia receiving #30K minimum wage. Anyways let's know that Chevron and Shell want to sack workers. More unemployment. No naira to buy fuel. |

For those trying to make comparisons, I hope u know Saudi Arabia and Nigeria have different governance structures. In Saudi Arabia one man wakes up and say today, this or that is law and no one can challenge him. And with that kind of governance structure if u have a visionary leader, then everyone is better off for it. That was how Dubai was made into what it is. There is nothing like regional, political, religious or ethnic opposition. Not like what we have here in Nigeria whereby anything that doesn't favor a particular interest is opposed |

I am going to preface this comment by saying that...I don't support Buhari, or PDP or GEJ or whatever... But for once, Buhari is right, just as that Obasanjo minister was right in 2006 when he said something similar. The sad thing is that if Buhari had sad what he was saing now in 2012, when GEJ was proposing (partial) deregulation, we would have been in a much better place economically Instead, he played politics, got into power, now after five years of suffering, he has accepted the truth of deregulation All ill say is, Nigeria can't keep on subsidising fuel. That's why I did not vote for Buhari when he said oil should reach 40 nairia because it would have destroyed our economy in the process. We have thrown away ten trillion naira in ten years subsidisng fuel. Money that we could have spent on education or health. Oil subsidy has to go.Whatever party you support. |
Re: Buhari: It Makes No Sense For Oil To Be Cheaper In Nigeria Than Saudi Arabia by TruthinAction: 12:07pm On Oct 01, 2020 |
FarahAideed: Just my thought. You don't compare prices from country to country without taking the minimum wage into consideration. If the minimum wage in Nigeria is 150,000 naira, fuel at even 500 naira will be easily affordable. It should be noted that our minimum wage is about the poorest in the world. Nigeria has been made very poor by our politicians. We need redemption. |

SLAP44: 366 likes, because Nigerians are uner the impression that what we earn from oil is enough for all our needs. Well, it isn't. Saudi Arabia has 33 million people. Oil production is in excess of 10 million barrels per day. Nigeria has 200 million people, and oil PRODUCTION is about 1.8million barrels a day Comparing Nigeria and Saudi is like comparing a man with a monthl income of 50000 naira two wives and ten children and five dependents, with a man with a monthly income of 500000 naira with two children, one wife and no dependents. Who won't look better.? Thhat des not let Buhari off the hook. The man knows what to do to make Nigeria richer. Industrialization. But since both rich and poor Nigerians don't want to indstrialise, and snce both parties think the same on the matter....that's why we are poor. |

But it make sense for NIGERIANS to wallow in poverty, insecurity, unemploymen, hunger and starvation than Suadi Arabia Common sense is not common. |

Re: Buhari: It Makes No Sense For Oil To Be Cheaper In Nigeria Than Saudi Arabia by Nobody: 12:19pm On Oct 01, 2020 |
FarahAideed: TruthinAction: Well, for fun, the man also mentioned some other countries... “ Chad, which is an oil-producing country, charges N362 per litre. Niger, also an oil-producing country, sells oil at N346 per litre. Ghana, another oil-producing country, petroleum pump price is N326 per litre. Further afield, Egypt charges N211 per litre. Saudi Arabia charges N168 per litre. Chad has a minimum wage of 49000 naira and chargs 362 naira , Ghana has a minimum wage of 23000 naira, petrol costs 326, Niger 22000 naira, petrol costs 346,Egypt 48000 naira.petrol costs 211 Besides, if we deregulate, we would earn more income, and the minimum wage would rise. To say nothing of more investment The sad thing is that it took Buhari eight years to see thhe light.(Ah well, politics is a game of hypocrisy) |

SLAP44: Herdsmen aside, the man is right. The annoying thing is that he did not see sense in 2012, when we could have removed this thing and be done with it.Instead, because he and Tinubu wanted to be in Aso Rock.... Besides, we would have had more income to prop up the police force, and so on. Also, thse hherdsmen clashes are happening because for many years, Nigerians have been taught not to trust the police. Here on this site, people openly support taking the law into their own hands. And as some herdsmen are Nigerians....when in Rome... That is not to justfy them. As far as I am concernced, Buhari would do well to tell his countrymen to stop taking the law into their hands, and trust the police. And if we deregulate, we would have enough savings to pay for a better equiped police force. |
