The Greatest Nigerian ever lived was Moshood Kashimawo Abiola. Popularly known as MKO, he won what is known till today as "Nigeria's fairest election." In my opinion, he was the only one that seemed able to unite the country along ethnic and religious lines, as results from the election showed him doing remarkably well amongst all of Nigeria's diverse groups.
Despite religious preferences, Nigerians at the polls showed the whole world that they had greater believe in credible leadership than quota sentiments. However, the enemies of Nigeria did what they do best and effectively put him to rest.
RIP MKO!

Although you have already know answer to your question.
But my Nigerian greatest hero is Rashid yekini popularly known as mathematical

Rashidi Yekini was born in 1963, on October 23.Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigerian international, and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country's first-ever goal in the competition.

Rashidi Yekini was an exceptional footballer. He was thrown up by the system we had in place in the country then and flourished as footballer for both club and country

Although I believe that Nigeria can reproduce another Yekini but unfortunately the structure in place in the country now does not permit such.

The greatest Nigerian is he who goes through all the negatives odds of living in Nigeria and still striving to make a positive means of living.
Its we we who bash all the bricks of this condescending Nigerian society and still smile with friends over a bottle of beer..We who still turn up in asoebi to show the massive love we got for each other..we who still repost and tag just to support each others businesses and idea.

We who still find laughter admist the insecurity and brutality of a nation.
We who "dem pepper" but still choose to stay sane and live within our means.
It's we who still choose to love with broken hearts.
who still finds peace in all the violence
Who still raise our voices not considering the injustice.
It's we who still do our bit to save Nigeria.
We fill our roads with gravel and sand from sites.
We fill our children with morals and hope in sight.
We sleep in hunger not minding the way it bites.
We who know that It might not be in our own time but Nigeria will be great again.
Its we who were born this year and the years before.
It's we in history, in the present and in the bright future to come.

The Greatest Nigerian is me and you.

There is none among the present crop of leaders that merit that accolade. However,if I am to make a choice on impulse,I will single out the fearless, disciplined and ruthless Gen.Tunde Idiagbon as the only personality that exudes the Nigerian self confidence of greatness.
Contrary to popular sentiment and assumption,Gen.Buhari wasn't the original brain behind most of the holistic reforms and programs like WAI(War Against Indiscipline),executed during the Buhari/Idiagbon military regime of 1983/1985.They were the ideas of his then no-nosense de-facto number two,Gen.Idiagbon.Core societal values such as discipline, punctuality, accountability and transperancy held preeminence in Nigeria.Looters and political desperadoes in the political sphere were subjected to the brutal wrath of the law.Our economy then, though not perfect, got rid of economic saboteurs and made steady progress until the IBB-led military junta displace the regime.
All these were at the imprimatur of Gen.Idiagbon and not Buhari.Hence,my choice of Idiagbon.Thank you.

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO

Obafemi Awolowo was the first premier of the Western Region and later federal commissioner for finance, and vice chairman of the Federal Executive Council.
Awolowo was responsible for much of the progressive social legislation that has made Nigeria a modern nation.
few of his numerous achievements include;
--naming Nigeria’s national currency as ‘Naira’ when he was the Federal Commissioner for Finance.
--The party he founded, Action Group was the first to move the motion for Nigeria’s independence in the federal parliament.
--He established the first television station in Nigeria in 1959.
--He erected the first skyscraper in Nigeria.

Musa yar adua but unfortunately
death no let him achieve much.

National agenda
In August 2007, the administration unveiled a seven point agenda to be the focal point of the administration's solution to developmental challenges and stated goal of elevating Nigeria to be among the twenty largest economies in the world by 2020.
Critical infrastructural development in power, energy and transportation
Focus on development issues in the Niger Delta. The government created a new ministry for Niger Delta affairs
Wealth creation through diversification of the economy and source of government revenue. A movement away from a fossil fuel dependent economy to a diversified economy.
Human capital development
Review of land tenure regulations towards a reform oriented goal
Security
Food security [24]
Due to his illness and death, the administration was unable to realise the agenda. [25] The power sector was not adequately funded, infrastructural deficit was not closed down and the troublesome process of reforming land use regulations hampered a reform of the land tenure law. [25]
Electoral reforms
Yaradua established a presidential electoral reform committee to look into the legal factors, social and political institutions and security issues that affects the quality and credibility of elections in the country and also, to make recommendations on improving the credibility of elections. The reform committee was headed by
Muhammadu Uwais , a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court . Among the recommendations of the committee was constitutional measures to make INEC truly independent, removing some of the activities of INEC with the creation of an electoral offenses commission and a parties registration agency. It also recommended speedy resolution of legal challenges of elections, presumably before the swearing in ceremony of the victor of the seat being challenged. [26]
Illness
President Yar'Adua left Nigeria on 23 November 2009, and was reported to be receiving treatment for pericarditis at a clinic in Saudi Arabia . He was not seen in public again, and his absence created a power vacuum which was usurped by a cabal. [27] On 22 January 2010, the
Supreme Court of Nigeria ruled that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had fourteen days to decide a resolution on whether Yar'Adua was "incapable of discharging the functions of his office". The ruling also stated that the Federal Executive Council should hear testimony of five doctors, one of whom should be Yar'Adua's personal physician. [28]
