smallsmall: I have been reading your comments. Your concern for the woman and child is commendable But the reason why hospitals hold such women captive is simple. Many hospitals in Nigeria run at a loss. Because there are patients who access care and run off without paying their bills. As a result, many hospitals have been forced to take harsh measures to make sure patients pay in full Otherwise they would struggle to pay staff salaries, pay for equipment, pay for consumables, pay taxes and levies and pay bills for power, water and so on. I worked in a private hospital. Initially the owner was compassionate....till people took advantage of his compassion and ran off without paying their bills. He had to open other businesses to stay alive Also, I knew of one guy who came and opened hospital in his home town. He was compassionate . And he had to close the hospital after a year because he got broke. 1 Like |

This woman is a stupid idiot, how can you allow somebody as poor as you to impregnate you when you know that both of you don't amount to anything. This is a case of pure wickedness, the wicked woman and her wicked partner just want to bring the kid to this world to suffer. People like this deserve death sentence before the state takes over the care of the innocent child. See eh, in this world no be everybody suppose born, if you don't have the fund to take care of the child, zip up and tighten your panties 3 Likes |

thorpido: I am trying to see all sides of the story. I think the hospital should have let her go after a week or thereabout if she wasn't able to come up with the balance. It is Penny wise pound foolish to hold a nursing mother for six months because she did not pay N90k balance. No family, no father of the baby, no relatives to look for her. Did she fall from heaven? How did she gather N160k considering she obviously wasn't planning for CS? Or did she beg one of the hospital workers to let her camp there and they twisted the story? How was she feeling all these months? Having her bath? Caring for the baby? What clothes was she putting on? Her neighbors knew she went to give birth somewhere and did not bother after not seeing her for six months? We are talking about a mother and child: one of the treasures we value in our society. There is more to this story. 2 Likes |

Yankee101: I see. And you don't know how many staff of hospitals have had salaries delayed and haven't been able to feed because patients don't pay their bills How many private hospitals cannot afford better equipment because they run at a loss because patients cannot pay their bills. And having been at the recieving end as a staff of a private hospital...salary delayed or cut because the owner has allowed too many people not to pay them bills, or having seen how some private hospitals struggle to pay their bills because people don't pay their bills, or having seen hospitals go broke because of patients not paying...I know. So you grow up, and face reality. 1 Like |

Someone should please take up the hospital management for kidnapping. There are many ways to collect what they are owed.Imprisoning her and restricting her liberty is not one of them. That is kidnapping |
