I think your application will be approve. The review was initially negative but I guess it was entered in error, Since the AIP came much later after the initial refusal, it means you passed the eligibility after your application was properly review after the initial rejection.

Expect your final approval

Thanks for your response, I sincerely hope this will be the case,

Hi.. Sorry about your refusals.. Pls did you get a letter from the Asset managers of your Mutual fund stating that you can liquidate it anytime? I'm just wondering whether u added it to serve as home tie or it was purposed as proof of fund

Oghogho1313:

You are quite correct. To provide a bit of context. I applied in May and the elligibiity review was done a month later in June. So, from June to September no update reflected online via the ircc portal besides biometric done in August and medicals(Upfront) done in August. I hope they still give out approvals to everyone still waiting for approvals in the gcms notes. I am only saying its quite likely it might not be the case.

Timeline

Applied on 15th May
Biometric letter 16th May
Upfront medical 1st August
Send webform to update on deferment from Fall to Winter semester due to processing delays August
Biometric enrolment 24th August (Updated same day online)
Medical passed 27th August (after sending same via webform and email some weeks earlier)
Requested gcms notes on 1st September
received gcms notes on 23rd September (note that eligibility failed as at 10th June as that was when the entry was made in the gcms notes)

Documents

B.Eng Degree Cert with 2-1
Intro letter from the office indicating position, gross salary etc
Land docs in lagos and another state
Tenancy docs in current abode
Police certificate
LOA from school for MBA program along with other documents
Payment of 1,000 CAD tution deposit evidenced by official receipt from school
Professional certification certificates
1 year Bank Statement with balance of 1.2m (inflow of 12m and outflow of 11m within 6 month period)
6 month pay slip with more than 1m monthly pay
Mutual Fund dollar statement signed and stamped with balance of 10,000 USD
Mutual Fund naira statement signed and stamped with balance of 19,000,000 NGN
Passport and Visa pages with valid UK visa at the time
Confirmation letter from the office
Salary review letter
Children's birth certificates
Marriage certificate
Letter of explanation/SOP detailing why I chose the program, Canada, short and long term career goals and how this fits in, family ties etc
NYSC Certificate
IELTS Results
WAEC Result
First Degree Transcripts

The medical request was sent( most likely) after that decision was made. And AIP was sent almost a month after.
Course of study Masters of Global Management
School Royal Roads University

I studied Computer Science and graduated in 2007. Worked for a while before I started my business in 2010.

This is my second application. My first application was refused based on purpose of visit and family ties in home country and canada.

My SOP was properly written, I addressed the initial reasons for refusal and added some claims.

Hello guys.
I have submitted my application to CIC.
I have also gotten the Biometric instruction letter.
Can I do my medicals alongside the biometrics even when i haven't gotten instructions to undergo medicals?

Please help. After booking for my biometrics, I did not get a mail. What should I do? Will there be a problem if I book again? Thank you.
Chocs:
Hello LordAA

After booking, you were meant to get an email, in that email there’s a confirm appointment button which you were meant to click. If you did that, your appointment should still be valid for the day you booked except you cancelled the appointment.

You'll need to raise a webform and attach whatever you want to submit.. Just Google Canada webform and the link will pop up for you to fill your application info and upload a file / merged files less than 3.5MB or so.. Good luck

Yes. You can do your medicals as well if you choose to do it upfront before they officially request for it. If you'll be traveling from another city, it will be cost effective to do both at once. Hopefully, it will be successful in the end. Good luck

Meanwhile, how did you pay $235? Naira or dollar card? Seems CBN have calm down small

[quote author=Chocs post=94554483]Hello Macj247

You’re welcome. I’m female smiley

Have you gotten an admission to any institution yet?
(1) Before applying for a study permit you must first get an admission to a DLI (designated learning institution). It can be a college or University.
Make sure you check if it is eligible for PGWP(post graduate work permit) which would let you stay back to work in Canada after studying. You can check the name of the school in the link below. After entering what province (area) the school is in, you would see if it is eligible for PGWP (they write yes next to it if it is eligible)

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

(2) Next you apply for your visa. There are two ways to apply: 1) paper application submitted to VFS (2) online application

Please read the info in the link below. If you choose online application (which I recommend) just click the link, click “apply online for a study permit” choose “create account” and after account creation, you’d be asked some questions and based on your answer a checklist with the list of documents would be created for you.

If you choose to do the paper way, you can find the process in the link below too

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp

Please make sure you read this thread from page one to the end. Take your time to learn about the application process to prevent a rejection. People can advise you, but the major work lies in your hands to read wide and learn about the process. If anything isn’t clear, feel free to ask questions on the thread.

At the bottom of this page, you’ll see different numbers, those are the page numbers for this thread (group). Please click on 1 and start reading till you get to the end.

All the best

Please, how can I get my personal reference code back?

Sorry about your refusal. You are refused on two ground home ties and available funds because you are travelling with you family and it is a two years program. You should apply alone and let your wife stand as co sponsor since it is a two year program and the buck of the money is in your wife account. Also your wife standing as co sponsor and staying back will answer the question of how you intend to pay for the second year. The purpose of visit was added because of the lack of home ties and fund which put your purpose in doubt
Wish you success in your next application
Thanks a lot.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by chloe3: 8:12pm On Oct 04, 2020
Refusal reason from GCMS note

Applicant is a 27year old single Nigerian. Applicant is employed as asst project manager. Applicant holds a bsc. In technical education. Applicant is applying to study project management in Centennial College in Toronto.
I have considered the information provided by the applicant, given applicant previous education/employment history and the high cost of studies in Canada, this doesn't appear to be a logical progression of study/career. Given the economic motive to remain in Canada, the applicant incentive to remain in Canada may outweigh there ties to their home country. Weighing the factors in the application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for there stay. Application refused: ties, purpose.

Please gurus in the house. I want to re-apply
Initially my bank statement was not included because sincerely am depending sole on my sponsor and my sponsor is the one covering for all the expenses. Do i need to include my account statement since on my first application I provided a study leave from where am working. And how do i show economic motive that i wont remain in Canada, since that's one of the concerns of the visa officer

However my Business account has received funds since the last time i printed and submitted it to CIC, the fund covers much more than what is needed for Tuition and myself and two family members for 2 years, i might not need my wife to co sponsor any longer. Is it advisable to still reapply with three of us or i should apply for myself alone.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Pee2Jay9: 8:28pm On Oct 04, 2020
This is like the first notes I'm seeing that seems really truthful. I'll agree that the VO did his /her job well for being this detailed, it shows that the application was properly assessed. If I was young as u, I'll do a 1 year MBA here in Nigeria and enter the Express entry pool. With high scores from IELTS and increased work experience, your score will be very high in a few years and you will get it if PR is still available, and no VO will be able to discretionarily deny u visa.

But if you choose to reapply, I don't know what else you can change since you confirmed that your personal and financial assets are low.

If the available funds cover the tuition for the two years and the living expenses for the whole family for two years, you can reapply with the whole family but you need to state what is at home that will bring you back and that should be your business and also state clearly why you want your family to accompany you.

It is better when you are the sole sponsor, it shows your business is doing very well.

This looks like an Ordinary DIPLOMA program, cos even in the Admission requirement, a University Bachelor's Degree wasn't mentioned

As suggested by Honorable Chocs, do mail the school to confirm the Qualification of the Program (if its a PGD or an Ordinary Diploma)

You can check the following schools for their

Hi,

For any school (DLI) in Canada, u need to have a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a school (school u got admission from) bfor u can apply for a Study Permit (its part of the requirement).

You apply for Jobs when u get to Canada (U gonna be given a Work Permit at the Canadian Border Service in the Airport to Work Strictly for Only 20 hours per week during school session & 40 hours per week during Break/Holidays)

i strongly advice u take ur time to Get Educated & Enlightened about Canada Study Visa Application via the link below

Akannitommy:
Below was my post on related question from March 2020. I tried to share/quote directly but got a message that "topic was locked". Don't know what that means.

PhD is a research work that requires you to be highly independent and curious minded. This can be be displayed in the quality of your research idea or prospective research focus. A 500-words abridged research proposal is a good measure of how you can pass across your ideas in few words. An expanded proposal may be requested in other cases but keeping it simple have always worked for me.

You also need academic preparations in terms of qualifications and grades. A minimum of 2.1 will be good enough to qualify you. Some programs/countries requires you to write standardized exams (GRE/GMAT). This may make up for high 2.2 or low 2.1 grades in places where the exam score are not required. So if you submit (even when they are not required) these could help your case. NB: you stand better chance if your masters is an academic degree (not a professional/terminal degree) - check out status of yours and the difference from experts in your discipline. If you have an MPhil, even better. You may want to do a second masters that is academic (one year) and aim to score high.

Below is the process that has always worked for me to secure PhD admissions in different countries.

1. Choose a focus area and subject you want to research.
2. Write an abridged proposal -- check samples online and in libraries for structure.
3. You may want to develop a more robust proposal as back up in case your program/supervisor requires it
4. Search for programs, schools, or professors who specialize in your interest area. Look at their works and you may even find research ideas from such places. Get the emails and other contact details for any of these that may interest you.
5. My advise is to also look at the admissions requirement and availability of funding in these programs. They are usually open about what comes with the offer, if you get it.
6. One or more research publications in peer-reviewed journals will boost your chances.
7. A good unpublished writing sample - term paper, assignment, project report - may also be adequate.
8. Using the draft proposals to craft a simple (250 - 300 words) inquiry email to prospective supervisors. This is a very important email -- all aspects are crucial -- right to the captioned subject. For instance, Enquiry: Prospective PhD in International Development Studies
9. Send out this email to as many relevant professors as possible. BUT always edit them so you can direct to appeal to the interests of such people.
10. If you receive 3 out 10 replies your inquiries, then you are either lucky or sufficiently good to catch their attention. Reason is they receive 10's of such emails weekly. Don't be discouraged! Some will ignore altogether, some will tell you they are not available or interested, some will request for additional information -- scan transcripts, writing sample, CV etc. If your email and research area meets with someone who is looking to hire a Phd student in that same area, then you are you have crossed a major hurdle. They would usually request a meeting/interview via Skype at this point. If you impress during your interview and they say you can go ahead to apply, your admission and funding are almost guaranteed. You must ensure your focus is always tweaked to match the interests of people you are contacting. There may be other variations to these but this is mostly my personal experience and from friends I know who have also succeeded in their PhD quest.

When you get to this point in your quest, you have my email then you can reach out for more tips. Otherwise, if you have the funds then just put in a good application to many schools and you can get one or two. Mostly, PhDs are not admitted because of your fees but your research potential.
