Yes naa. You didn't read Chriskels' post referring to Pinnick's words on it?

Okay... See it here. From Pinnick himself.

Coach Gernot Rohr might be a bit light in the middle. However, I'm extremely happy to announce that @FIFAcom has just granted Hoffenheim defender and former German U-20 national team skipper Kevin Ufuoma Akpoguma permission to make his switch to Nigeria with immediate effect...

He has scored only one goal more than Simon na. Has not even completed 90 minutes this season while Simon has to play every minute of every match.

Now let me address this fine post.

✔The midfield you put out here is likely to be the Midfield we see against Algeria. If there would be any change at all, it would just be one. That is if at all there would be any changes.

But in the absence of no changes, then yes, Agu will sit as the DM. And he interprets that role a little differently than Ndidi. He is a bloody destroyer. Lol. grin
Agu will mark and chase down dangers and use his physicality also. A real soldier.

Frank Onyeka will be the more mobile of the two as he would act as the ball carrier/CM linking up with Iwobi more often..

Iwobi will do what he does best. Link up plays and make our attacking moves flow through him.

✔The attack too is very likely and it would be interesting to see Nacho playing with free flowing ballers flanking him with an Iwobi behind him as a kind of AM/SS. It is likely. But in case, Rohr does not fancy Nacho starting as the Top 9, then it would likely be Dessers or inform Onuachu. But Nacho is the most experienced of the three so maybe he would edge it. Time will tell if otherwise.

✔Now in defence. This is where Rohr could come up with any number of combos.

In goal, You went with Alampasu and that is possible. Dele is not new to this team actually. Rohr knows the lad well. The only time he played under Rohr was against Togo in a friendly we won 3-0 back in 2017 or so.
I think it's easily a toss up between Okoye (who has only gotten minutes with Sparta Rotterdam's reserve team in the lower leagues of Holland and with the first team in Preseason before the season proper began) and Dele Alampasu who has actually been in goal in a good number of games for Ventspils in Latvia and even in the UEL qualifiers.
Okoye is favorite but I won't rule out a good fight from Dele.

At CB, he could go with the trusted Ekong and Semi Ajayi pair as that is what our central defence has looked like in our last four games vs Lesotho, Benin, Brazil and Ukraine.

Any change could see maybe Akpoguma start or see Omeruo start. But if not, then it might remain Ekong-Ajayi. I don't know if Rohr could start with Ajayi-Awaziem... It is possible considering Ekong hasn't played much yet this season and only just joined Watford but he has been training and is fit.

At LB, our last four games saw Collins start in three of them (Ukraine, Brazil, and Benin). He missed the last one as Aina took the reins. Now Collins is available for this but he hasn't been playing yet in hopes he might get a move away from Paderborn and another Nigerian, Chima Okoroji has been playing LB for Paderborn. Now this could mean he doesn't get to play as Rohr could look to New guy, Zaidu Sanusi. Aina and Ebuehi are also options there even as they are also options on the right. Time will tell.

At RB, our last four games saw Aina and Awaziem share duties. Aina started against Ukraine. Awaziem started against Brazil. Aina started again against Benin but Awaziem came back to RB against Lesotho while Aina went to LB in same game.

Now that means the likely starters at RB could be Aina or Awaziem. But judging by the availability of options as Ebuehi is now in the conversation and has been having a decent run at Twente, then that leaves Rohr with choices to take a sweet bath in and keep us guessing a bit.

It is exciting. The Super Eagles are back with even more sweetness in depth. cool

Now is the time to put the depth to test.

BascoVanVeli:
This is how I would line up against Algeria given the circumstances. I believe Agu and Onyeka might be a match made in heaven because they compliment each other's quality. Agu sits back and gives passes to start of the attack while Onyeka does everything box to box so there won't be an issue of getting in anyone's way like when Etebo and Ndidi play.

Either way it goes we will have quality players both on the field and on the bench

This thing is temporary and refers to factual "in the moment". Onuachu is our hottest striker in Europe now but that doesn't automatically make him our undisputed #9. We know who that is.

Now there was a time Simon was our best/most inform winger in Europe and I called it that way bcoz it was so. But at this very moment in the opening stages of 2020/21... It is definitely Samuel Kalu above the others for now. That is me being factual and not subjective.

He has one more goal than Simon I repeat. Apart from that there is nothing about their play that would tell me Kalu is in better form. U can't be a bit part player who scores 2 goals and come and say u are the most in form winger. I put him on par with his namesake Samu and a little below both Ejike and Simon.

Now this is you being subjective. I gave only factual references. And Kalu is no bit part player. Started three of their last four games. That's no way to be "bit-part". Dude recovered from Covid and needed time to get into shape yet he has come up strong. He is our best so far at this point. No sentiments.

Glasgow Rangers signed South African Central midfield player, Bongani Zungu on loan from french Ligue 2 side, SC Amiens (Loan Club of Stephen Odey).

This is obviously to provide a stand-in for Aribo's absence and as well provide more competition and cover in Rangers' midfield.

Factual references which are? He hasn't played 90 minutes all season while Simon has played all but one. U say it was Covid and I say he had one goal all last season so the coach is using him sparingly. It is up to him to build on that but I don't think his name should be mentioned next to form on the club level just yet.

That Onuachu is our hottest striker based on current form and numbers is factual.

That Kalu is our most inform winger based on his showings so far and his numbers is also factual. That is very easy.

And it is not me saying Covid. It is exactly what it is. The lad was down and he had to work his way back. He was also on the verge of leaving for Gala but Rohr talked him out of it. Now that is what you don't know. So Kalu had to get down to serious business and convince the coach and the coach is seeing it for himself so far. So the talk of using last season to say that is why he hasn't played 90mins is not holding up at all. We are not talking last season. We are talking this season. And based on showings in 2020/21 right now, Kalu is indeed in form. You don't have to agree but that is the truth. It is what it is. Three starts in his last four appearances topped up by two goals is not "sparingly".

Are we going by the full season or are we picking games we like. Maybe I should have ran here when Simon scored and made my own declaration.

Onuachu is the man in his team just like Simon. Hopefully Samuel Kalu gets there but he isn't yet. I know what I am talking about I saw this same story last season and he ended with the same one goal people were hyping.

Who is being picky? You are just trying to make a funny case for Moses Simon. We are talking 2020/21 and you are bringing in 2019/20. Why are you like this?

And at what point last season did anyone say Kalu was the most inform? So what same story do you refer to please? Almost everyone agrees Kalu had an Underwhelming season in 2019/20. So why keep going back to 2019/2020?? Is that what I am talking about?

Look, for the season currently in play being 2020/21, Kalu has been the man so far among our wingers. At this point in time, leading to this international break, he is our most inform winger. Why is that so hard for you to accept and swallow? Or is it a lie?

I have seen Simon in all games this season and I can tell you he has had his bad games. There are two I can easily point to where Simon underwhelmed. Kalu on the other hand have had to grow into the season after recovering from the Coronavirus and he has shown massive improvements since then. Why is that so difficult for you to acknowledge? Stop looking at Kalu with the story of 2019/2020 and look at him with the story currently unfolding in 2020/21. That is the window of focus abeg.

And please, who hyped Kalu based on One goal thoughout last season? Who please? Or are you stylishly suggesting he would also end up on these two goals he had bagged already for 2020/21? Is that what this is?

And if Kalu is not worth his form... Why did you include him in your front 3 then? Why not Moses Simon?

On our Goalkeeping situation...

So that is how we have gone from "having only just" Uzoho, Akpeyi and Ezenwa to "now having" Uzoho, Okoye, Alampasu, Yakubu and Lawal (think he, Lawal, will eventually settle for us by his showing up despite initially pulling out).

Time. What a beautiful thing.

Well, you have reasons to feel that way as we have truly notable absentees. Five of them to be super precise. So yeah, the chances that we could be beaten are there. But again, the chances that the new guys rise to the occasion in combo with the other regular legs, are also there.

Time will tell.

You are taking it too personal biko. Are we fighting? I said it was subjective and it is when one goal is the difference. Did I also include Iheanacho on form These are players I know well, I picked a team I felt can beat Algeria.

I am not stylish at anything I ever do. Don't make me out to be a hater for my opinion. If he continues on the same vain after the break then we discuss but not now and yes he can be stuck on 2 goals but that is totally up to him.
