Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun is under fire for giving the winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba (Better known as Laycon) a sum of N5million and a 3-bedroom bungalow.



Yesterday, Laycon was welcomed by the good people of Ogun state where he also met with the Governor, Abiodun and other Ogun State government agencies.

According to the post shared by via the official social media handles of the Governor:

“We have appointed the winner of the Big Brother Naija Lockdown, @itslaycon Youth Ambassador of Ogun State in addition to house and cash gifts.
“I relayed this development today when I played host to Olamilekan Moshood Agbelesebioba, AKA Laycon in my Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.
“The appointment and gifts are a celebration of Laycon’s good character, intellect and virtues which were proven to the whole world on live TV as better choices than vices.

“A proud son of Ogun State, Laycon displayed the essence of focus in the face of temptations and provocations. This is the true Ogun State spirit, and it indeed confirms that this earned him his academic achievement at the University of Lagos.”

Even though the fans of Laycon were happy about this move, Some Ogun State Indigenes and Nigerians are not okay with the decision of Governor Abiodun to give the winner of big brother Naija such amazing gifts, knowing fully well that he has already won the grand prize of N85million in the reality TV Show.

The statement from the Governor was greeted with many negative reactions as people accused him of misplaced priority.

Whenever I see dapo abiodun, I see an empty skulled puppeteer controlled by one drug baron. He is the worst of all governors ever clinched to the seat.

Ogun State has the worst road infrastructure in SW Nigeria . Many communities still sourcing water from polluted rivers, many unelectrified communities, the state last paid Pensioners gratuity for 2013. Currently planning to scrap gratuity all together.

The important infrastructure supporting the economy are mostly in shambles. But the clowns in government would rather award 5M to the winner of a program that holds no direct relevance to the state. No priority! No systems! Leaders just spending state resources on their whims�‍♂️

Though I believe that probably those little Ambassador College kids doing us proud in the state should have that Youth Ambassador tag also. I still believe there are good arguments for giving Laycon such title. However, what I totally disagree with is spending state resources whimsically when basic provisions aren't in place.

This set of Tinubu boys in the southwest are useless. Start from Ekiti ,Ondo ,osun,Ogun and Lagos. None of these people perform to the people expectation.

The worst of them is seyi makinde that guy really surprised me despite the fact that he contested for the seat countless of times before he finally got it in 2019. Nobody would ever believe that he will not perform well.

It’s not even about Ogun State alone now, it’s about the crop of leaders we have now. I saw Bayelsa governor welcomed one of them. The sad thing about this is that these people were trained in this country when things were saner but they grew up and created a toxic environment for the younger generations. Of what moral value is the show itself? What is the economic / value importance of the past winners? That is why, the little ones now sees what is wrong as the norm. This type of governor has again contributed to the erosion of our values by letting the little ones believe that hardwork, education, seriousness doesn’t pay like all those immoral acts. No encouragement for the ones studying hard, the ones learning crafts, but a soft porn program attendee could be highly rewarded so what do you think the very little and tender hearted ones will choose?

They have killed the drive of creative people absolutely in Nigeria. We are no longer thinking about how to get things done but how to show we have arrived. These big men we vote are just using governance to practice big-manism.

A Youth Ambassador is supposed to be a person Youths will learn from.

In Nigeria we say no to education! Yes to misplaced priorities!! Even the best graduating student from ogun state has never gotten a quarter of this kind of reward... Where then is the motivation to excel in academics? How can Nigeria move forward when we keep paying attention and glorifying immorality ? What exactly did laycon do that should be of motivation to the youths? Is it rocking Nengi lustfully or refusing to talk back at Erica?? What exactly is the lesson learnt from BBnaija that should warrant all these accolades? This is a country where even 1st class graduates find it very difficult to get a job. How long are we going to continue like this??
