My neighbor picked me up today, always had d feeling he's a Uber driver based on the way he leaves early and comes back late.

But wat surprised me was he said assuming he knew it was me, he would've declined That he doesn't even accept trips from or to our estate (probably he doesn't want anyone to know he's an Uber driver).

I personally think it's stupid cus Uber drivers earn even more than sum office workers now...so y should I be ashamed Or naxo sum drivers here dey do too?

PS: That Ogataxi dude wey leave Uber go do real estate just bought a Camry muscle..The clown say e dey fear to come here cus e no get money for give away cheesy
Was super excited for him Wen I saw him yesterday...that's progress mehn! Big ups to y'all

He's probably sick!

Attached below is what I'm driving now and everybody know in my estate of what I do.

They (neigbours) do offered me many offline trips in fact am currently on sweet deal offline. With uber and offline, am saving nothing less down 30k after all expenses.

I usually dress to kill like am working in the bank or doing white collar (I embrace whatever that's putting food on the table for me).

I'll like to also encourage some uber drivers make una dey dress well this life na packaging you don't know where your helper is try and look good yaba shirt is cheap

Peace

Just saw this on twitter.
I think ehailing drivers should be very careful this wild period and please we should be very conscious when it comes to picking people at night, bolt and uber need to do alot of screening and should be held responsible for anything that happens to any driver on their platform when such things happen becoz I know it cant happen in other developed countries.
Lastly please avoid offline trips if it is not your regular customer.

Oga complete this story na, wetin really happen?

Sir sorry for late response!

I later bought the car outright although I’m currently doing some engine work on it and still owning some balance.

Also, with moove and part time work (networking and programming) God has been taking control.

Thank you sir

I love your spirit bro, pride and low self esteem is the major problem of many in this country.

It is usually hard for any underground human with this attitude to succeed.

Your car looks good (year of the Corolla please?).

One principle i have in life, no matter what, never look down on yourself, dress well and believe in yourself.

Even if i wear 1k shirt, i will iron it well, spray nice perfume on it, and even look good, than a dude wearing 15k shirts, and i will compete with him, anywhere we happen to meet.

My first comment on this great thread.

By d time I see my current HP contract through I'll opt for Moove, by then I'm sure the drive to own must have started. i.e if something better hasn't come up though

Bro sign this car out on a 3month rental with an option to HP after the 3months. Its better than waiting for an outright buyer or a hire purchaser with almost 300k down payment. The country is hard already it will take you time to get sb with such an amount plus selling 9ja used cars are diffuclt, most buyers wont price well.

Nigeria is really messed up!
Though one cannot be careful enough but discretion many times saves ( if Allah wills).
I had one experience last year December. Was still a new driver on Uber then. Around 10pm, this request beeps and i accepted, called rider; said he's going to Lekki or Sangotedo area. In about 5mins, I arrived at PU(Ilaje in Bariga).
Two men and a woman came out with some light loads and was asked to oo3n my trunk.
But I alighted from the car before opening my boot in order to quickly peruse what they are putting in my trunk.
Hmn, i was a broom, wooden box for seating, cutlass and some other stuffs in a sack.
My heart beat immediately accelerated to about 250 counts per minute. I didn't outrightly cancel the trip cos the street self was so deserted.
So i started the trip and on getting to a third street which was still active, i switched off my engine and pretended there was a fault. I ended the trip there. They were somehow disturbed but do i care!!!
They moved away from me and I think they were making another request but me just zoom off.

You even started the trip grin.
One thing that always worked for me in this hustle is my instinct; I never go against it.

Countless times I have turned back on my way to pick up point, even after arriving.

During my early days too, I had just drop a rider off at Abidjoh Amity Estate around 12am, my very first time of going there (and last time going there on night work). Dropped rider and I was blowing empty back to civilization when I got a request somewhere opposite Crown Estate, the guy said he’s at a car wash bar by road side.

When I got there, he came out to meet me he was holding a joint in his hand obviously stoned to stupor. Back then you don’t see destination on Bolt, he moved closer and I rolled down the front passenger glass to speak with him.

I asked where he was going and he mentioned somewhere very strange to me as at then; Baba Adisa. I told him I don’t know where that is.
He said it’s not far that we just have to make a Uturn at crown estate and face the destination.

That’s when I knew I was never going on that trip, I asked if he was going alone. He said No that’s there’s three people more. Two guys and a lady.

Before he could complete his sentence I was almost at Sangotedo grin

God's protection is the ultimate but we should never downplay our instincts. Safety first should be our watch word especially late night trips. I happen to do late night trips a lot cos I hate traffic coupled with the fact that my current car is Manual transmission. There are axis I avoid totally, I call the rider before even starting my car to head to PU. This is to enable have an idea of who my rider is from the conversation. I keep all doors locked, park in a position that makes my escape easy. once rider approach, I observe him/her, Looks/composure especially. Then I don't do more than a rider at nights , I even ask you before moving to PU. may God continue to protect us.
