In my next life Chukwu I want to be onye Igbo .. the Igbo apprenticeship is based on patience and humility , if you serve your master well you learn a lot from him , if e easy other tribes will run it but it’s not , everywhere you see an Igbo man he is calculating or making moves to change his condition or upgrade , when other tribes are busy OWAMBE-ING, umuigbo are making moves .. 1+1= 2 thousand naira and 2+2=4 million naira , no be so umunnem? 27 Likes |

slivertongue: If Igbos take a 10 year old Fulani boy to sleep in their shop and serve them as a houseboy for 7 or 8 years, and ONLY paid at the end of 8 years (based on the amount the master wants to give and not anything mandatory), Igbos will be called the worst child abusers and exploiters of Fulani labor in the world. The ONLY reason this Aisha thinks it's easy to serve someone without pay or promise of a fixed amount of money at the end of 8 years service is that those who have chosen to humbly serve someone for 8 years without pay are fellow Igbos. Who you in any case see their success after 20 years of toil, without people like Aisha looking back to see what they suffered in the past 19 years! Unlike Igbo business men that empower those that served them, the Fulani herders that rear cattle for rich Fulani men for 20 years aren't even rewarded with even 2 cows to start their own cattle herd. They are entrapped as slaves forever to rear cattle for rich Fulanis without any empowerment to start their own business. These are some of the reasons Nigeria must break up because the people are so different in mindset and so suspicious of eachother. 36 Likes 3 Shares |

kingi777: you sum it all. most people from other tribes want instant gratification, no perseverance. they cannot serve masters for 5 to 10 years with nothing to show for it. no gain without pain. 17 Likes 2 Shares |

In Yorubaland, we also have our own apprenticeship system. But in our own apprenticeship system, the servant will religiously serve the master for a number of years and thereafter it is the servant that will still pay the master. After serving the master for the agreed number of years, the master will now demand for money and some other items to do what we call "FREEDOM", after which the master will send the servant away empty handed to go and start from the scratch. Most servants may never be able to raise a start-up capital in their lifetime. Isn't this wickedness? Should we blame the Igbos for this too? 37 Likes 2 Shares |

How many yoruba youths can endure and work for a master for minimum of 5yrs? After working at shop, comes home and fetch water, run errands for madam some even wash clothes, wont be in the sitting room when his master and mistress are there, wash dishes before going to bed. Early morning wash car if his master has one and other things. Eat his meals most times without meat and still be cheerful to his customers even immediately after he was scorned for wrong doing? And again there is language barrier with an outsider. If your apprentice misbehaves to call him to order is very simple being that you know his relatives so let other tribe copy the model and implement it. Let the igbos do what they know how to do. 25 Likes 1 Share |

Must everything be politicized in this country, anyway am not surprise the best way to paid back to your oppressor is to be successful e Dey confuse dem die. When another man’s success begins to give you a sleepless night it can only lead you to evil . Never you fight a man wey carry “God Grace’’ You see that thing called GRACE e pass juju e pass ritual. Do your own make I do my own , the world is too big , if you work hard you go reap the rewards, you see that successful man the story long o, the struggle no be for weak minded. Ayed44: There are 2 different apprenticeship schemes in Yorubaland: The one related to learning carpentry, upholstery, tailoring etc.In these cases, the parents pay the teacher or master for their child to acquire the knowledge from the master. The second system is one in which the apprentice stays and learns about trading or business from his mentor for a stipulated period and at the end of the period, the mentor gives the apprentice some merchandize or substantial fund or give both to the apprentice to start his own business. This last system is very rampant amongst the Kwarans especially the Ibolo,Igbominas also called OWO NI E JE (na money e go chop). They are the singular largest landlords in Lagos. We have seen a situation where only one Igbomina man has up to 200 houses in Lagos alone. 2 Likes |

ayzTIGER:You are right, but the message is why others resent Igbo. And she is very correct on that regardless on how you choose to twist your word. She never call for and force the Igbo to start employing other tribes but she simply pointed at a reason for the resentment and it doesn't matter if it justifiable or not but that's the fact of the matter. 1 Like |

AhmedEmeka: Yes she is right in that aspect but did igbos stop others from doing the same? It’s not igbos people’s fault that they come to your land and take advantage of the opportunities available while you sit your ass down waiting for government. Then tomorrow you tell your children that they are poor because of igbos. 13 Likes 1 Share |
