gwafaeziokwu: Don't hype the apprenticeship, many are not paid after apprenticeship. Present youths in the big cities like lagos cant do apprenticeship, they are not patient. Igbo apprenticeship takes like 10 years to complete, how many people in the big cities can do that when ordinary 4 years university they can't complete. |

cbrezy: Aisha Yesufu, how dare you delve into a subject that can be seen/analyse from a national anthropological, socio-economical-political angle?. There is a motive(a dark one as always towards the children of light). My point, is not that the subject can't be analyse on its own merit or demerit, but at this critical/shaky time in this country, such analysis must be done from the national scope. Nigeria is at crossroads now, therefore, your analysis must cross reference other social cultural traits in the country, like the Fulani Rugga system, the Yoruba media dominance and etc & collectively analyse their merits or demerits towards establishing a progressive social cultural order in the country, and not a situation where one cultural trait is ruthlessly killing off Nigerians, while another see advantages in being biased, and you cleverly use your analysis of pros & cons of that one 'focus' cultural trait to express Your Own biases. Nigerians Ndo.. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Why has nobody complained that it's only Hausa boys that are allowed into almajiri system? There is no effort to expand federal character to include Igbos, Efiks, Ijaws. Is that fair? 2 Likes |

horsepower102:Nice point, we are both saying the same thing. I am not in support of the resentment neither is she but what she is driving at is that it is the cause of resentment among common Nigerians. I am not Igbo but I respect the business acumen and the apprenticeship which was even praise by world class business schools. We are simply bringing the point down to the reality on ground by other ethnicity regardless of their other prejudice. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

ayzTIGER: The truth is, how many of these people complaining will allowed their children to serve under Igboman if given the opportunity? Then you will start hearing all kinds of negative theories about Igbos.. most of them have already formed an opinion against average Igboman nor matter how nice you treat them.. 3 Likes |

slivertongue: She is very wrong. She didn't look into how people are recruited into the apprenticeship?? Y are people from other ethnics not under Igbo apprenticeship And probably didn't make much effort into understanding the Igbo people do accept other ethnic groups and the challenges faced . First is that Igbo people do take people from other communities.....but often it is a futile effort. People from other nations don't want to subject their children to the training due to its duration. The boys of other ethnic groups often don't accept the habits and culture the training instills. 3 Likes |

Cjrane2: I wanted to state how truly unpredictable the apprentice scheme was, but was glad when i read this post. As you aptly stated, no Fulani man will ever agree to serve an Igbo family for 5 to 8 years without any contract of how much they should be paid at the end of the period. Even Almajiri Fulani will not mortgage their life for 5-10 years serving someone in "trust" that they will give them some money at the end of the period. Someone asked what Nigerians want from Igbos? Truth is that Nigerians are totally consumed by a mixed emotion of hate, envy, respect and frustration that despite all that was done by Nigeria to destroy the Igbo, they still thrived. It's like what is truly their secret, so we can destroy it once and for all?? Instead of quarelling with Igbos about their culture, Fulani people can also imbibe the Igbo apprenticeship system in their cattle business by settling those cattle rearers who work for so many years raising cattle, killing farmers on their behalf and making billions of naira for them through sale of cattle in faraway southern Nigeria. But, they won't do it because their culture isn't about helping anyone improve themselves even fellow Fulanis. They only look for how to cheat and take advantage of the weak forever. 9 Likes |

gwafaeziokwu: Yes exactly, any one that want apprenticeship should start it in their own culture. When you start to accept other tribes into igbo apprenticeship that cannothandle the vigor, you destroy the program 3 Likes |

fhranchez: Hahahaha, me too But I also think it was the civil war, because after the war we had to start from the lowest of the lowest level, for example my grandfather was a clark in Kaduna before the war and after the war he lost his post and had to start selling palm oil in small rubber because that's what he can lay his hand on due to the plantation the family had, this is same stories everywhere, so many Igbos had to resort to one occupation that the government can't regulate after the war and that's buying and selling of used clothes, shoes etc, and today they are reaping the benefits, they are now control commerce in Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Gabon etc 2 Likes |
