Good day everyone. Nigeria is really a peculiar case. Nairaland, no different. You created a post, seeking intelligent contributions. But what do you get? Crazy and senseless contributions from frustrated things. |

Olude193: I saw the message her sister sent to her. Sometimes, it is not even whether someone has the money or not, it is just that you just don't lie to collect money. |

Where is the original post? cos all i see here is banters and attacks from all angles. The topic is not so clear. What are daughters being charged for? 1 Like |

sholarr12: You already sound angry, defensive and ready to pounce. And you are derailing your own thread. How can you receive advice like that? What he said is not enough to provoke your reaction. Take it easy. |

I saw your original post before you took it down. Yes, parents charge their children (sons and daughters, married or unmarried) to contribute towards family functions. If you cannot afford to contribute the money expected of you, don't lost any sleep over it. Just tell them that you're sorry but you don't have the means to contribute or they should manage what you can afford. Heaven will not fall. Honestly, a lot of wives' families exert a lot of financial pressure on husbands. It's unfair and could lead to cracks in the marriage if they continue like that. 3 Likes |

ImaIma1:What he said was enough to provoke my reaction. It was insulting and unintelligent to say "You want us to tell you to pay or not." You would know it was insulting and unintelligent if you saw my original post but it seems you did not see it. Sometimes, if you don't know the context of which a statement is made, you should be careful in the apportionment of blame. |

dominique: Thank you for this. What you have just said was the point I was trying to make. But you know how it is on Nairaland. Some people will just reply rubbish like they think with their anuses. Damn! 1 Like |

sholarr12: I am saying you could have answered with the kind of maturity you expect. If you blame someone for being unintelligent and insulting, you shouldn't respond in like manner. I didn't see the initial post but I have an idea. There are some things you should not condone so that it doesn't become a norm especially if you notice that your wife's family displays some kind of greed, plus if it is not something you are required by tradition to do. Just use wisdom to handle to matter and try not to engage them in any argument or something that might be used against you later. 1 Like |

LedRock: You must be quoting the wrong person. Show me where I insulted someone or forever hold your peace. |
