DontBullshitMe: How does this example relate with what he said Someone said you shouldn't profile citizens by their dressing...You are saying we shouldn't profile policemen by their dressing? A policeman? Someone with a weapon and is supposed to be in charge of lives and properties is who we shouldn't profile by his dressing? May God have mercy on what we read here sometimes 10 Likes |

izzou:I'm just offering a different perspective to the discourse. Because I don't think being badly dressed and being a good police officer are mutually exclusive unless you can prove it. The pictures can still be re-uploaded. What I saw were SARS officers with dirty clothes and I don't think they are INCOMPETENT because of that. For all I care, they might just be coming from a gun duel with kidnappers from the forest. Your response had emotions written all over it. You don't even know if I support appearance profiling or not, your blood was burning hot. I asked a question. I did not posit anything. Read calmly. 2 Likes |

May the souls of those we lost in this struggle: a struggle for freedom, a struggle for safety, a struggle for us not be profiled by quality of clothes we wear, or type of cars we ride, of brand of phone we use. Struggle for us to own technological gadgets and accessories, a struggle for us to step out of our houses without the fear of it been the last time. A struggle to Live and stay Alive, Rest in peace! For you all we shall overcome. |

A40: the dangers of leaderless protests is that they can easily be hijacked and derailed. Every protest needs to have a recognizable face that can be bargained with else the government or powers that be can easily squash the process. For instance, these protests raging on now that is beginning to turn violent can give the government (federal or state) easy and legitimate reason to declare state of emergency and that will be the end of the protest seeing as there is no centralized figure to bargain with. |

donjazet:Who is derailing or hijacking these protests you have been seeing? What we have are trigger happy officers opening fire on unarmed people. There is no rule anywhere that says protests must have leaders. The demands have been clear. End SARS, holistic police reforms, the officers who have killed people these last few days be brought to book. This was the problem with NLC and others, now who listens to NLC again when we all know they have been compromised. The uniqueness and beauty of these protests is the spontaneity, it's organic and should be a model for future reference 7 Likes |

DontBullshitMe: Haba! Guy You really need to stop now. Somebody talked about policemen profiling innocent citizens because of their hairstyle, clothing and general appearance....somehow you think the reasonable thing to do is to refer to pictures of police men who dressed irresponsibly carrying firearms like robbers is what you should use to make as a basis of argument..... Does it not occur to you that the reason why we are having this discuss is because the so called police officers are even dressed worse than those they are trying to correct with the bullets in their gun? I mean does it make sense for a SARS official who himself has a tattoo trying to shave off the dreadlock of an upcoming artists they meet on the road? What you are offering is definitely not a different perspective, it is badly thought attempt at acting Devil's advocate Na wa o. Seems some people here are best listened to when they talk only sports. 12 Likes 1 Share |

iamoyindamola:why does this typical response remind me of fela song Sorrow Tears and Blood I hate these type of people with every bone in my body. So those protesting don't have old women or family at home that they care about? If you no wan protest, then shut up.. must you talk crap. 1 Like |

BlueRayDick:Honestly I am for #EndSARS and #EndPoliceBrutality. That particular action of circulating those pictures, is it as a result of appearance profiling or not? And I don't support SARS harrasing people because of what they own or wear. Don't misread my post. |

Amoto94: I don't think I have misjudged the situation. Currently there are pictures on twitter of some people in the northern states defending Sars. furthermore, show me any picture of any protest going on in any northern state, apart from the federal capital. I'm just saying we need to be united in the face of adversity. Right now, the protest is predominantly a southern thing. The victims of the protests also seem to be predominantly from the south. 1 Like |

DontBullshitMe: The reason for circulating those pictures were clear; If that guy blocks Ur car with an unmarked sienna and asks you to come down your vehicle the way he's dressed ( which is typical of how SARS officers operates) you would definitely be in a state of total confusion not knowing whether you are receiving others from a kidnapper or law enforcement agent. The very picture you are referring to has the SARS guy and a police woman juxtaposed. I'm sure an average Nigerian will be willing to engage the policewoman or man in uniform looking well and identifiable.....the same can't be said of the SARS guy. The picture is attached for your attention 7 Likes 1 Share
