12 state system is not feasible there was a reason more states were created. More States were created to curb marginalization.

Ebonyi people used to complain about being marginalized that development wasn't reaching them.

Rivers people especially the ikwerres were extremely marginalized under the old rivers state by the Ijaws before bayelsa was created.

Same with akwa ibom/cross rivers. It was marginalization of akwa ibom people by cross rivers that turned lots of them into house maids back in the days

Indeed, this platform that has revealed to those of us born after the creation of more states, just how bigoted the major tribes can be, minorities would be crazy to accept regionalization or state shrinkage. It would be disenfranchising.

Devolved power can equally mean grass-root representations, in this instance, meaning more Tribe representative states. Delta state barely represents Isoko and Urobo people, as it is, without some selfish lot wanting to dismiss our relevance by subsuming us within some larger tribe, especial one whose most ardent advocates are little differentiated from Ethnic Supremacists’ that are never clearer than when expressing hatred and contempt for others.

If the north leads the so-called restructuring process to fit their grand design again, the rest of the country should object. What I have learnt from all that is going on is that the socalled north gets away with all sorts of evil , simply because the rest of the country is docile. The lopsided state and local government structures in place today were all whimsically designed by northern army officers to favour the north to the detriment of the southern part of the country especially the east. They have more states, more local governments, more allocations, more senators, more....., it's endless ! Now, they are fearful that after Buhari, with the trends of political events, a real restructuring might happen, and they want to quickly effect changes to guarantee nothern domination for another century. This is wrong! It's either everybody is treated equally going forward, or the whole country should expire..
This attitude of us blaming EVERYTHING on the NORTH is the reason our respective states government get away with all manner of crimes against our people. They feel they owe us no responsibility whatsoever, because regardless of what they do, we will BLAME THE NORTH.

I am not sold to this nonsense of blaming the north over everything. I prefer to ask, first of all, what has my successive state governments got to show for the allocations they've received over the years? Ditto local government chairmen, Senators and Representatives. What is there to show?

Is the North the reason why a Southern governor's brother who has no visible source of income, drive the most exotic cars and build the most luxurious houses and buy the choicest properties?

Is the North the reason Southern government officials populate employment vacancies with their family members?

Is the North the reason a Southern state governor owing aged pensioners go on to collect billions in "security votes"?

Are they the reason we have comatose public health and educational systems in the South?

Are they the reason why our state houses of assemblies have become rubber stamps for the executive and the speakers exalted houseboys of the governors?

Are they the reason Southern Senators and Reps collect constituency allowance and pocket same without executing a single project?

The questions are endless!

We should stop blaming the North and hold our very own leaders to account for once. That is what an educated man would do.

Theres no problem with this except that we Igbos are going to insist that all Igbo speaking people be put in the Eastern Region. This means that Igbanke in Edo state, Anioma in Delta state, Umuezeokoha in Benue state and Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Ahoada, Asa all Igbo speaking people in Rivers state be added to the present South East to make the Eastern Region.

And I don't see any problem with this...

Why have you cited it as a problem?

You are claiming people that are not Igbo. Go and read about the people of Ikwere. They are from Edo state and not igbo, Igbo language only influenced their patrilineal language because Igbo people dominated the ikwere people land... Igbanke people also had similar experience the reason they speak Igbo.

The problem with this narrative is that nobody managed to tell us how those from Edo have Igbo surnames. Did Igbo also dominate them to point of forcing them to drop their ancestral surname and adopt Igbo surnames? Amaechi, Omehia and Wike are surnames of past and serving Ikwerre Governors of Rivers and those names are Igbo. How did Igbos get their forefathers to abandon their ancestral Bini surnames for Igbo?

12 States is NO NO.
How many states were in the South when Gowan created the 12 states? No, we can't accept such.

If there'll be any Restructuring, it should be Regional Government.

Let's go back to Regional Government, also dissolve this current 2 Chambers.

Finally, Our constitution needs to be rewrite to overhaul the inequalities in those institutions

Anything created by the sneaky muslim northern military hegemony should be dismantled! That would mean going back to the 4-regional structure, because it’s from there that rain started beating us! We go back to the 4-regional structure, and then start reorganising/restructuring things from there! Any attempt to listen to these crafty northern oligarchs would mean the south rolling over and accepting the criminal advantages they stole for themselves via the military!

Some people think they’re smart!
