A reasonable nigerians can't take apc as party that will help us progress hence the need to abandon them and choose pdp as better party, there is hope if pdp are ruling than apc the evil.

Hope in PDP? God forbid!! It could have been the worst, and I know how it works..

Is Buhari aware that Nigeria has a constitution?

Is he even aware of the requirements of the constitution

First of all, these CSOs are PDP sponsored. Second, the PDP don't have the numbers in the Senate to block her confirmation. Third, Lauretta Onochie is very qualified for that position as a lawyer. Fourth, she is not partisan as defined by the law they quoted because she is neither an elected official or someone who has contested an election on the platform of any political party.
So you are pleased with nigeria situation and with the system of running government in Nigeria now....??

Just say PDP rejects it.

Absolutely nothing they can do about it.

She's not a card carrying member of any party but a professional who has carried out her service to the president meritoriously.

But picking the issues one after the other, Sunday Vanguard discovered that the 1999 Constitution is part of the problem. For those accusing President Jonathan of appointing known partisan individuals to the board of INEC, Section 156 of that constitution says no persons shall be qualified to be appointed as a member of INEC if “he is not qualified or if he is disqualified for an election as a member of the House of Representatives†. (See Box on What The Constitution says).

To be a member of the House of Representatives, an individual must belong to a political party and, by extension and implication, to be a member of any of the executive bodies, the person – and in this case INEC – must belong to a political party. When this issue was first raised in 1999, the whimsical explanation even by lawyers then was that the qualification did not relate to membership of a political party but just qualification sans party membership.

Even if we agree that she is qualified, common sense dictates that you don't appoint someone like Onochie to INEC. INEC may not be perfect but the only thing Buhari accomplishes with this appointment is killing whatever little trust Nigerians have in the electoral system. 2023 is still far but Buhari will still go, and its moves like these that discredit APC, leading to the return of PDP.

Re: 70 CSOs Reject Lauretta Onochie’s Appointment As INEC Commissioner by akdjr(m): 6:41am On Oct 14, 2020
Anyone kicking against her appointment obviously never follow up previous INEC commissioners during PDP era. This is not about support for any political party but just a subtle reminder for those who don't know to go and check. In my own state prior to 2007 election someone was appointed and we know right from then that it's a done deal for PDP. The only solution is to make INEC a truly independent body even in their appointment. No INEC commissioner and Chairman in the history of their appointment both past and present that are truly non partisan before their appointment. You may not know this fact but those who knows knows.

Bros when u want to comment on something, always do it on the side of morality not by sentiment.
Lauretta is an appointee of this govt, on what basis was she appointed?
Once u work and support a political party and that party in turn supports you either on contract or appointment, automatically u r of that party.
We r talking of making Nigeria work for us and our children, yet people like you who still have more years to live are supporting rubbish.
What was the basis of change these people campaigned on?
The other one mentioned Jonathan, for God sake are we now competing with Jonathan's frailty and ills while in government?

mind what you say/write against another no matter how aggressive you are. If you have anything against someone, there are better to register your thoughts than writing unprintable things about a fellow human being, would- be mother, and a woman just because she's in public service.

We all clamouring for good governance, irrespective of which party is involve.
Good governance is a panacea for growth, development and prosperity.
If the previous government was voted out because of these anomalies and ills in governing the country, please those supporting this govt should never always draw us back to compare what the previous govt did. It makes the entire change slogan laughable.
Let's strive to move forward, grow, and develop. All these will strengthen our unity if at all we really want it.

Buhari keeps setting bad precedence and u keep applauding him, maybe u think Buhari and APC will be president forever. Don't worry, soon another president will come and appoint his party national chairman as INEC chairman.
