You should have left that window opening you made and just fix a non openable window. That way, it is cheaper and you have natural light enter the place.

I love windows. Where it becomes expensive, I just put permanent one. That way, you save cost of mosquito net and other window accessories.

I reduced the windows not only due to the cost but also based on the flow of the house and how I intend to use it. It’s still pretty bright and airy on the inside due to the central courtyard.

Though there are a few tech that can cut off power generation in case of issues.

With unmonitored renewable energy, you basically have Kanji Dam without the engineers.

If you do decide to go this route then please don’t use Chinese stuff it only high grade ones, German and USA stuff still better. But N3.2M?

Alhaji you know my story. I am not on Ground but my Solar has been working 24/7 with access from my base i can control absolutely everything
i.e from Switching to grid and CCTV inclusive ..... thank God Naija is opened will be coming home soon and will be showcasing my upgrades with Automation for fast Everything from the Inverter A/C to the Water Pumps , Water heaters, Fridges and freezer , Alhaji it is the only way to go if one is to have peace of mind when done right

Mehn, I love this. I love large French windows. It is just money that is the problem. That's why Nigerian landlords will keep given people one tiny thing as window in their rented apartment.

Yes. You did explained everything to me o. If I can manage many things without being on ground then I am game. My Gen can be a stand-by backup since I already have them. I will surely be in contact with youiffkine for more help, because I will surely need plenty help.

I hear you too o. Even though I have MaiGuard 24/7 but how technical inclined is the Mallam.
Working with @Desiji should be good.. I know he uses like all German/Europe equipments, so I think the Chinese equips may be eliminated. May be high Chinese equips ma be good too. Exporting from here too may be dangerous and expensive especially if you dont know what you are doing like Old fool like me.
But when I am ready, I will surely learn all I need. I have started gathering that information now.

But what I am still trying to figure out is how to make the house not look like a jailhouse with the door/window protector??

This is the quagmire that I’m in.

I’ve been pouring over anti burglary designs on Pinterest. I haven’t come up with an ideal design yet that meets security and aesthetics.

So the only few home invasion robberies in my vicinity threw me for a loop.

The anti burglary bars were removed in seconds by the thieves and the imported dogs were swiftly put in a comatose situation. So what are we now talking about again

I truly wish for liberal gun laws and castle doctrine in Nigeria.
