DadaStephen1: It happens everywhere. American tech companies are huge money bags which require huge financial power to resist their bids. ARM was acquired ditto many European tech companies. Even in other industries, American firms hold sway, have money and can do and undo. It's hard to resist their offerings except you have strong financial institutions ready to support, a huge economy (preferably top five), huge consumer market and entrepreneurial scene. The only countries which have been able to resist such are China and Japan. Trust me, if American companies aim at your companies, it's hard to say no. At the bold, that's low budget Karl Marxism which is not even practiced in China. 1 Like |

CSTRR: However you see it, it's a fantastic deal for the industry and country. Now, people would be able to build even for the sole aim of cashing out, which is a good thing. Indian entrepreneurs who have a way bigger market and economy cannot resist American offers, it's Nigerian entrepreneurs with a smaller market that should decline offers? 2 Likes |

CSTRR:They can always start a new thing with that money. This is Africa my brother there is lot of stuff that yet to be done here compare to US and Europe. If they can build paystack to what it is today, my brother, they can always look into a new challenge with that money. Just look at Elon musk, from PayPal to Tesla to Solar City and SpaceX. 2 Likes |

plat0:Good development - the more foreign owned companies in nigeria the better - nigeria needs to adopt £ or $ too. in the foreign owned companies bosses wont be asking out female coworkers because there are ethics and standards. the companies will be stable and wont collapse after several years. |

southniyikaye: If you attended a Nigerian university, I can tell you for free that you have nothing to regret. Learning computer science in these schools would not give you the knowledge and insight required to build world changing applications. The creator of paystack did not acquire his knowledge from his Nigerian teachers. 1 Like |

These ones are not the type that shout, 'Nigeria's disintegration', up and down. They made no excuses, blamed no one, they did thire thing. They saw the opportunity in Nigeria, the great big yawning possibilities that is Nigeria, and took advantage and now look at them. They shouldn't have cashed in yet though. They should have held on to thire business longer and be more ambitious. Elon Musk is human too. |

CSTRR: Create yours and get offered money to sell it and don’t sell it, see your mouth like Nigerians are short-sighted. Nairaland that was offered money to sell it and refused, see how useless Nairaland is, nairaland that should have been as huge as reddit in Africa and expand through the whole Africa. To place an advert on Nairaland you have to make a bank transfer, what nonsense. |

CSTRR: It’s good saying that in Hindsight, what certainty was there that YouTube would have so much acceptability back then in 2006 when it was acquired, it wasn’t even the first and only video sharing platform. It might have been mismanaged or went under due to lack of funds, being acquired also creates the right ecosystem for a company to thrive. 1 Like |

CSTRR: Bros I’ll keep tagging you till you stop this useless argument, Elon Musk was among the sellers of PayPal to EBay for $1.5 billion and used the funds to achieve greater investments and Tesla is now more than 9 times worth than EBay that acquired PayPal so dead that talk, those young guys could go on to develop things with the cash in the future that would even surpass Paystack. 2 Likes |
