Why do people keep referring to the UK as England? Are you guys dumb?
England is "part" of UK and not "UK".
The UK stand for: united kingdom of great Britain and northern Ireland.
The British isle is made up of a lot of island,of which Britain is a part of. Britain is an island(or isle),the largest island in the British isle. The UK comprises of: england(capital is London), wales,Scotland,and northern Ireland. This are all island,close to great Britain, which is also an island. The 4 island there are referred to collectively as the UK. London is the capital of england and not London!
This mistake is so stupid. A thread in frontpage is making the same stupid mistake. UK is not the same as england. England is a part of UK!
Dumbos everywhere. Thus thread might not get a lot if views,but if theres a way for people to zee this so they stop making that mistake, mynd44 pls do.

Got a friend who goes about correcting people on this (he's got relatives in Northern Ireland and London), even explaining it like you do.

After the explanation, what they'll ask him is how Ireland is a part of the UK and not a separate country.

I think he means England is the correct term to use instead of London as most people do.

Example - someone comes back from England, Ireland or Scotland but many believe he just arrived from London, UK or some who believe Scotland and Ireland are completely different countries (which is wrong)

Moreover it's not totally wrong to use the UK when referring to England, Scotland , Wales , and Ireland. It's not as wrong as you think. Just like referring to a country in the Schengen instead of naming the country directly. Same way those westerners will barely single out a country in Africa. Instead they generalize it using "Africa".

Bro, you made a good point but along the line, it became somehow. Your use of curse words is not nice.
Yea, people do make this mistake etal, sometimes i correct them, some other times i say "fvck it". After all, some of these british see anyone from Africa as Africa!

The same way people do not know that only England, Scotland and wales natives are British while northern Ireland are irish but they are still part of UK ( stand to be corrected).

You're correct but my point is most people I've met don't think it's under the UK but believe it's a separate country on its own, with no geographical ties to the UK.
