omopapa: While it's acceptable in Nigeria.... our greedy government turns everything to a scam or money making venture. They are asking everyone arriving to pay 51k or so and repeat the test in nigeria If you have mandated passengers to do one 96 hours to arrival. Why charge them to repeat it in Nigeria. So the one abroad is not good enough ehnn. The whole system needs change not just SARS |

Travelling to Nigeria with an NHS covid test is risky - it might end with a lot of headaches at the airport. Moreover, the UK FCO advice against using NHS test. It should be a private PCR test. Thanks for the info, however, you were not that specific about whether you travelled to nja without headaches. I can Google things but this forum is better that Google when we get Adobe from people with experiences rather that bland info online. Anyone travelled recently? |

chrisj2: No this is actually incorrect ooo. I had lots of people travel recently with the NHS test. It is perfectly accepted with no single issue. You either show the text message result or the printout I am 100 percent sure of this. 4 Likes |

It is not acceptable! But people get away with all sorts. Also, there are reports of fake covid tests in Nja - all these does not help our reputation and perceptions from folks from other countries. Actually, the travel that we are anticipating could be avoided if we can find any responsible adult preferably female to help bring a 6 year old girl over to Manchester or any airport in the UK...

chrisj2: No until you actually travelled then be careful not putting inaccurate information out there It is the airport official that check it before checking you in and it been absolutely fine..... NHS test is acceptable . I have been there like 3 times now . Forget about some quote on a website that might not even be updated than actual life experience . Is there anyone who travelled recently and it wasnt accepted. Then enhhh that credible info to be shared. But everyone I know and I been there myself to check in and it was absolutely fine 2 Likes |

Wow! You have been to Nigeria since the airport became open to general international flights? Tell us more! The info I have provided is more in Line with official information - it is not about whether it is updated or not... However, I thank you for letting us know that NHS test was accepted for you and others. |

You asked for a good clinic na so as to do private test. They are all the same as they all send kits to you. Google lists them all (as long as they are in the UK) for you to select which you prefer. I used NHS. You don't have to if you find it risky chrisj2: |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 2:09pm On Oct 18, 2020 |
chrisj2: The first time my family member actual paid for the private test because I saw a post here that said it wasn't or might not be allowed based on info during time of repatriation flights. On getting to airport on the 7th Sept , 2 days after international airport was opened. We got there with the private test only to see others with the free NHS test. That was absolutely fine ..... been there twice since then and it's been NHS test . Allowed with no single word . First flight we used the private and it was fine as well so anyone can pay £150 and use that as well. We used citydoc website which I saw on this thread . . . Both private and free NHS test are accepted for flights to Nigeria so feel free to use private |

dustydee: It's entirely pointless, doing 2 covid test within almost the same period......... One test in Nigeria at N50,400 is fair....... If you paid for 2 covid19 test, that's almost £300 on covid19 test alone...... Utter nonsensical....... 1 Like |

omopapa:Why? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by chrisj2(m): 8:50pm On Oct 18, 2020 |
It is not just the cost of travel that is the issue, it is the possibility that things might go wrong and become stressful and even more costly. It is also very difficult to go to Nigeria from r a short period of time - let's say 9 days or less... 7 days to self isolate and then go and do a mandatory Nja test and then travel out; given that the second test is negative... How long does the Nja test take to get a result? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 8:51pm On Oct 18, 2020 |
dustydee: The virus needs a few days to cook inside your system before a test can pick it. So if you travel today with a test done yesterday, on getting to Nigeria, you’ll still be negative even though you’ve been exposed. Symptoms show after 5-7 days of exposure (less for people with poor immune system) and non existent symptom for people with amazing immune system. |

Bourne007: Bourne abeg tell me how I can do the free test. So if I go on the website and say that I’ve been exposed on Monday, will they tell me to go and do the test on Tuesday then I’ll get my results on Wednesday? What about the walk-in centres, do I need to register prior to visiting them? I’m trying to plan my covid test so my 96 hours can fall before my flight. |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by chrisj2(m): 8:56pm On Oct 18, 2020 |
That guy called Aliu or something said the reason for the second test is because they noticed that people were coming in with covid picked up after the test or during flight (not likely picked up in Nja). To be fair, Covid is an imported phenomenon in Nja, most locals are covid free or immuned in some ways. The high profile deaths have been of abroad travellers... I don't want to pay for a second test but that is the rule. On the NHS test, it might accepted but it is frown upon by the NHS and the UK government... It is kind of not morally right because it adds to the bottleneck of testing and dealing with covid in this country... My tuppence! |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 8:58pm On Oct 18, 2020 |
chrisj2: 24 hours. If you live in Abuja I think you can go to maitama hospital and register for your test, pick a preferred date and pay. You can also register online for the test. I’ll post the link when I get it. Oh actually when you register (prior to landing in Nigeria) they will send the link to you anyway. |

Aphrodite007: Abeg louder. ... the high fees immigrants pay is it morally right. Also usually price increase is usually inline with inflation but when it comes to immigrants fees it increases way more than the standard rate of increase of anything Just sit and calculate how much a family of 4 pays for visa until ILR. Is that morally right? . Before Theresa May I too never paid IHS and the NHS was alright with only my NI 3 Likes |
