Feminist Coalition, a group of gender rights activists, says it is now expanding its campaign against police brutality to include a call to restore the dignity of homosexuals, transgender and other non-conformist groups in Nigeria.

“Our communal fight to #EndSARS is inclusive of the LGBGTQ+ community who are also harassed, assaulted and killed by police,” the group said on Twitter Sunday evening. “They deserve the same justice we seek & even more so, as they are also a target of the law. You can’t be what you fight against!”

LGBTQ+ is widely defined as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer and others.

The comments came days after Twitter’s Jack Dorsey recognised the group as the face of the ongoing campaign to end police brutality in Nigeria. The police special anti-robbery squad, which sparked the movement, was abolished on October 11 amidst uproar.

But Nigerians have continued their agitation, demanding investigation of decades of rights abuses and compensation for victims.

On Sunday afternoon, Segun Awosanya, a rights activist who began the campaign to rid the country of police brutality in 2017, withdrew his participation in further protests, saying those leading it are becoming increasingly dangerous with an insurrection plot being introduced to the campaign.

Mr. Awosanya quickly criticised the coalition as shifting the goal post on Sunday evening, declaring their “agenda” as “dead on arrival.”

You all can also go ahead and distrupt this purposeful but hijacked protest.

Hey that's not what they said. They didn't say the fight is centered on the LGBTQ community.

They said that fighting police brutality against queer folks is inclusive too!!!

You should also be condemning police brutality against armed robbers and yahoo boys.

Let us not let the west cunningly introduce the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Nigeria

This is no homosexual agenda!

What was actually said was that queers are also victims of police brutality and shouldn't be sidelined cos of their sexuality!

So because someone is too feminine or too masculine makes it right for them to suffer police brutality?

How can you even compare it to armed robbery and fraud

Everything is not western agenda! Deep down y'all feel it's okay for police to brutalize people as long as they're perceived queer! What then is the motive of the ensars struggle? That police brutality is okay for a selective few?

Sometimes I wonder how graduates emerge from universities. Intolerance will blind them to scatter this protest and fight themselves which is what these people want. These feminists are fighting for the lgbts that have been brutalized as well. They are not fighting for it to be legalized or something. They are trying to involve everyone in this protest which is quite wise of them if they want the protest successful. They want everybody out In protest against SARS. A lot of nigerians are unable to comprehend.
Just watch as with this my simple logical comment one "olodo graduate" will come and call me gay. Too many dull graduates

Against Nigerians? then why are you angry when they say police brutality against queer perceived folks is not okay too?

Or your Bible tells you it's okay for police to brutalize them as long as they're not like you?

Honestly i didnt even see where they said they wanna legalize LGBTQ in Nigeria.

They want everyone to join the protest but want police to continue brutalizing a selective few. How does it make sense?

Nigerians saw a tweet saying “LGBTQs also have a right to protest against police brutality” but decided to read it as “we are now fighting for LGBTQs, no more End Sars” how does that make sense?

Oppressing others while fighting for oppression at the same time

A lot of nigerians are so illogical. It's almost impossible to be logical in this country. They don't read in between lines and that's a problem. Are these the people that want to take over? I laughed hard when one was given a simple test of 4million naira. Before we could say JACK story don dey spring up. Very funny set of people. They only know how to shout. They really have comprehension problem and that's bad if they want to take over.

It's not even okay to brutalize and kill a perceived fraudster without proper evidence, investigation or court charges! Take a look at how it's done in other countries, the hushpuppi case for example!

The protest includes all Nigerians that has suffered police brutality but the intolerant ones are now saying LGBTQ shouldn't be among, that's it's okay to brutalize them

I'd rather have a honest gay woman or man rule me than a straight oppressor. If gays sponsored a protest like this to alleviate suffering and bring in the best to this suffering country, I think they are better off than all the straight people who have ever ruled (that's if up to 20% of these rulers and politicians that brought the gay law are straight sef. grin )
Youths want a change but they must learn to be logical and to "always" choose the "lesser evil" (gay isn't evil though because you hurt no one). If they fail to be logical as to always choose the lesser evil, they'll be outsmarted anytime. How can you be logical? By choosing never to be biased. Where your mind is free, you'll understand things better. You'll be logical.

Huntson just watch as intolerance would make nigerians turn their anger towards gay folks and fight themselves. Scattering everything. At the end, the politicians would have succeeded in conquering them. Insensitive nigerians. These feminists are right. Join hands with all. Fight insecurity.
Intolerance in every form (whether religious, tribe or sexuality) is what always separates us. This is what politicians always use too in order to achieve their aim "divide and rule". These feminists are wise.
Truly women think smarter than men
