LOL that was my first thought as well..

For the NHS test, you go through https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

There's walk in or drive through to select from. Result was 24 hours for me sent by email and text. Some ppl I know took 48 hours so depends on centre.

Wait are you pitying the UK govt after paying twice for health insurance (NI tax + IHS)? Lol Saint Chris; twale!

Hello house please I need advice, for my sister who wants to apply for settlement. She applied for her transcript and certificate last year September in her university and she got all the the letters to submit to Naric, the letters were dated last year steptember. Due to some circumstances, she could not submit . Now she wants to apply and we are confused if we should use the letter dated last year or request for another one from the school ( but I don't know if the school will agree to give her another one). Kindly advise if one can use dates that is now one year to apply. Thank you

The virus needs a few days to cook inside your system before a test can pick it. So if you travel today with a test done yesterday, on getting to Nigeria, you’ll still be negative even though you’ve been exposed. Symptoms show after 5-7 days of exposure (less for people with poor immune system) and non existent symptom for people with amazing immune system.
Exactly my point. That's why the test is not conducted immediately on arrival but some days later.

Walahi if I was to travel to Nigeria and I can do the test on NHS, I will. My surcharge must not waste.

That guy called Aliu or something said the reason for the second test is because they noticed that people were coming in with covid picked up after the test or during flight (not likely picked up in Nja).
To be fair, Covid is an imported phenomenon in Nja, most locals are covid free or immuned in some ways. The high profile deaths have been of abroad travellers...
I don't want to pay for a second test but that is the rule. On the NHS test, it might accepted but it is frown upon by the NHS and the UK government... It is kind of not morally right because it adds to the bottleneck of testing and dealing with covid in this country... My tuppence!

100% agreed, and yet, we blame SARS, Buhari etc. The only Covid test I have done was the free one sent to me by the ONS. The idea of lying simply to get tested is disgusting. I know how my colleagues working in frontline NHS roles struggled and failed to get a test when they were exposed at work.

There are Covid-19 fitness to fly tests available via private labs. Pay the money and get tested.

Apologies as I think this has been thrashed here before, but as I'm late to the party I'll throw it out: apart from a bank to bank transfer, what are other ways, if any, of transferring money directly to a Nigerian bank account? Thanks.
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by chrisj2(m): 5:37am On Oct 19, 2020
Each to their own... A system that works is worth paying for even if the price is too high... It does not compare at all to a country with too many failures and lack of care for its citizens.
Furthermore, black are disproportionately affected by covid in the UK and US - go figure!

I now regret going down this route with this conversation... Let's drop it before we do more reputational damage or even get the UK government to put a stop to the loophole... But if other nationalities are so doing, the same; you can just imagine... Best wishes to everyone. And thanks for the info on private testing - Assured Testing appears go enough and results time seem adequate

I am not in the UK and I have seen people respond to this question previously, some suggest worldremit, I observed that their exchange rate is 495 naira to 1 pound meanwhile on abokifx it's 1 pound is from 585 to 595

The difference is much

It got me thinking and I want to ask can't you guys use cryptocurrency option?

Buy any cryptocurrency in the UK, sell it on any cryptocurrency p2p companies operating in Nigeria, get your naija account funded, send to anyone u want to send it to.
Exchange rate is close to that of abokifx

I avoided using the NHS for this purpose. It shouldn't take a genius to understand that using NHS is unconscionable.

I’ve heard people mention Azimo, World remit and Moneyfex. There are also private individuals like Myself who you pay £ to for Naira to be directly paid into your account in Nigeria.

Il be happy to help. Cheers.

How? Is that not why they said the test should be done after a couple of days to account for the incubation period? It'snot like they are waiting at the airport to take your swab for testing.

The deposit is generally what you will pay for the next month's rent anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem; you must have it already anyway.
There will still be references requested or a guarantor or some months' rent upfront in lieu.

So if you're not willing to pay in advance for a place as yet unseen, then you'd best come over first and rent an Airbnb while you sort things out on the ground.

Really, I thought it will be held on too, until u are moving out.

If we are to believe Sani Aliu, 80+ plus tested positive out of 2000+ just after they opened international flights to all.
Somehow people are still bringing in Covid to Nja - and Covid 19 cases in Nja is mostly imported... That is his story for Nja government implementing a retest after 7 days...

Moreover, there is no way of ensuring that Nigerians self-isolate for 7 days talkless of 14 days like is operated in the UK.

We are typical rule breakers - so this is our punishment! Sigh!!!

* As for the website to upload test and get QR code, it goes without saying that it was never going to work smoothly. Add the fact that tests can only take place in Lagos or Abuja - it is all very stressful to go for a short visit

I’m referring to this point in bold. If anything happens on flight, the test isn’t sensitive enough to pick it up that early.

dustydee:

I think it actually makes sense to retest few days after arrival as a lot can happen between tests, even on the flight.

Yes and that's why they need to retest after several days of arrival peradventure someone who tested negative several days before travelling picked it after that including at the airport or on the flight.
