Oga Emma, do you think the stock market will allow the bears take over in the light of these economic uncertainties? Transatlantic, what direction is the dollar likely to go? 3 Likes 1 Share |

ojesymsym: These are the productive discussions I was expecting us to be engaged in-The impact of the protest on the economy. Pls house, let's not get too distracted by discussing only politics. We should also be engaged on the impact on our investment so as to make an informed decision. Thanks Concerning your questions, I think it will have a negative impact if the protesters don't stay focused on the goals and objectives of the protest and making the right demands such as: -better governance -making politicians accountable -reducing the cost of governance -improving the economic conditions of Nigerians and creating the right environment for investors -etc 3 Likes |

Things taking a new dimension. I suspect government wants the people to be the ones to request for clamp down on the protesters because even the police have gone on break. |

@DexterousOne, this is specifically for you, I hope you see where transatlantic was coming from. I believe you remember this conversation and exchanges. I know logobenz/ transalantic has some bad moments here, but no one can deny the fact that sometimes he is right. Iogobenz: 3 Likes |

9jatriot: You might be might..... When the whole thing started, it's funny when people are saying they are doing peaceful protests, peaceful protests in a country like Nigeria? A country that is full of illiterate? Some are even comparing Nigeria with Belarus The fact is, the whole thing is now a sponsored protest, it's been politically controlled. #Observing |

9jatriot:Well.... The economy is gonna a hit That's for sure However The government needs to take better steps towards ending this protests Buhari is not surrounded by good advisers at all Two things that will end this Throw some people under the bus That's a small price to pay for the anarchy that is looming IGP could be the scape goat And a group of others Then Second Send a bill to the national assembly for police reform Even if the bill eventually fails The very step of sending the bill would be symbolic But no They would rather advise him wrongly 4 Likes |

ojesymsym: I do not normally waste time and data to do meaningless online arguments in a faceless forum. Just trying to tell the poster that the cause of the problems of Nigeria is not down to any generation. Every person's great great grand parent could have contributed at any point in time. Gani was always taken to Gashua prison in Bornu state. That is the toughest and worse prison in the country. The poster should go and do a research on Gashua prison that Gani was always been taken to. Iam sure he will come and say the likes of Gani did not do anything just because they are now protesting and putting it on social media. No be today this fight for a better Nigeria start. 6 Likes |

You and I know that number 1 will not change anything, just like when a lion taste blood, the youths have tasted power and they are enjoying the trills, so the demands will keep changing as government makes one concession to the other. As soon as FG accepted to end SARS and start implementing the demands, the most sensible natural thing to do was to set up an independent monitoring group by these same protesters to ensure that government was not just taking the people for a ride. Leave PMB's advisers alone, one you claimed that the internet was going to be shutdown, one week after it is still on. then they did not advise military action, that is shocking to many of us. I am glad he did not send in the military. As to number 2, I think PMB signed something like that into law either last year or early this year. DexterousOne: |

ahiboilandgas: Was expected. Edo started it yesterday. Anybody that was thinking that the protesters will be allowed to just block major roads and the government will not do anything was just dreaming. As i said, this generation have not seen real protest before. Na only NLC fuel price hike when dem they dance at Ojota that they have seen and are used to. |

9jatriot: From what I hear on the streets Number one would be very very effective How can it be That up till now Scape goats have not been offered as sacrifice? The government is joking with the angry citizens Curfew was declared in Edo It has been disobeyed The one in Lagos may also be disobeyed And woe betide anyone who shoots in the open protesters in large numbers because of curfew... The government MUST do something tangible NOW before things fall apart kpata kpata They still think this is a joke |

Curfew was disobeyed because FG did not send trucks of military to edo to enforce it, same thing may happen in Lagos, you know state governors cannot control the military or even the police. Removing the IGP that just entered a few months ago? Anyway It wasn't part of the demands. So you see the demands are and will keep changing while hoodlums who have the experience of chaos begin to take over and even attack the protesters. Which street you for hear your story, this time not a report card on your table. LOL. na wa for u DexterousOne: 1 Like |

9jatriot: This was where the protesters missed. It was as if they did not have leaders. After the government disbanded SARS, they started adding to the request on a daily basis. From one request to five to seven to thirteen and now close to twenty. When will it end?. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by DexterousOne(m): 1:21pm On Oct 20, 2020 |
9jatriot: I crunch numbers as part of my job description So yes The report card comes to my desk... Every president has a "report card " Those in the finance line will understand what I mean lol That said From what I hear people say on the streets sha They overwhelmingly believe that a scape goat pit of some officers will calm things Tho my sample size upon which I am basing my hypothesis on is very small... That said also.... What do you suggest the government do at this point? Because lack of action will be detrimental to this country's future and health |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by DexterousOne(m): 1:23pm On Oct 20, 2020 |
NL1960: In case you dont know It was the IGP foolishly announcing SWAT so soon that triggered people more This is Nigeria We know how things work The nigerian people saw it as rebranding with no tangible change whatsoever That is an error That said I can deduce your condescending tone towards the movement and the young people who powered it. 1 Like |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 1:30pm On Oct 20, 2020 |
DexterousOne: I know it is rebranding. What was done by him required another strategy to engage and not to change hastag or increase demand. If you study Nigeria system very well, it is always what they do. SARS was disbanded and SWAT formed. Hastag changed from #EndSARS to #EndSWAT. So if SWAT is ended and 'WAT' is formed, hastag then changes to #EndWAT abi?. In as far as there is no limitation to hastags, there will be no change to naming. Is that what you want?. You need to understand that Nigeria Leadership is still not yet fully out of the Military ways of doing things. It is a mentality thing which will take time. 2 Likes |

My people enjoy life, live to the fullest... In other news, I sold a property somewhere in Naija last week, the agent has been discussing all his family "money" problems with me for the last couple of days. I wonder why my people have this unprofessional sense of entitlement! 3 Likes |

ojesymsym: That the dimension protest has taken will affect investment will be saying the least. Generally, market is affected by: Results from listed companies, news, sentiments, speculations, level of economic stability and the generally outlook of the country. However, when the effect on the stock market (any investment window) for instance is due to external causes and not because of management or bad results ie internal there is no course for alarm. If for example you invest in a company that has its fundamentals still intact and external factors like the protest results in low price of the stock, that will be a better time to buy more and average down. Sincerely from experience when there are crises opportunities are most times presenting itself in the stock market. That notwithstanding, if you are risk averse, it is always better to remain with low risk investment window and stay with fixed/guaranteed income instruments. Also, this time may not be the best time to invest in instruments not regulated by SEC or to speculate. |

With all the happening in Nigeria, The VEGETABLE has not come out to address the nation yet he travels to other countries uninvited during pre-covid times. TERRIBLE ! Make the protest reduce the price of properties in Banana island so i can finally puchase my dream house there currently valued at N800 million. 2 Likes |
