The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has warned media houses in the country to cautiously feature user-generated content in their reports.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the regulator said this directive is aimed at preventing embarrassment to “individuals, organisations, government or cause disaffection, incite to panic or rift in the society at large”.

The NBC said it has been monitoring the coverage and reportage of the #EndSARS protests and commended media houses for being conscious of their role as gatekeepers and the fourth estate of the realm.

“In specific terms, the commission enjoined broadcasters to take definite note of the following provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code to further guide their broadcast during this challenging time,” the statement read.

The sections of the broadcasting code extracted by the NBC as a reminder for media houses are:

1.3.3 Broadcast technology enables the broadcaster to bring information on issues of concern to the audience with immediacy. In the event of a crisis, the advantages of broadcast technologies may be used but not in a manner to aggravate the situation or adversely affect those emotionally involved;

5.4.1 (b) At all times, ensure that the coverage of a disaster or crisis is aimed at the overall public interest, guidance, and safety;

5.4.3 In reporting conflict situations, the broadcaster shall perform the role of a peace agent by adhering to the principle of responsibility, accuracy, and neutrality;

5.6.2 The broadcaster shall approach with restraints, the use of materials from user-generated sources in order not to embarrass individuals, organisations, government or cause disaffection, incite to panic or rift in the society at large

Kudos to the people of South East and Yoruba elders for seeing ahead and warning us at great pains and loss of political patronage about the impending doom we see today, we called them names but they stood their ground twice, warning us that while GEJ or Atiku may not be the best but they have some level of human emotion and empathy.

The Igbos insisted that they won't vote Buhari because he is heartless and they won't be deceived by the fake integrity Taqqiya promoted by Tinubu with support from Barack Obama. What those Yoruba elders saw in 2015 and 2019 while sitting, we couldn't see while standing on an Iroko tree.

Now the Govt wants a total media blackout on bad things happening in Nigeria, the unprecedented Nepotism, corruption, lack of focus, poverty, uncontrolled foreign borrowing, non implementation of electoral and other reforms, killing of protesters by security operatives and hired thugs etc.

While the shooting was happening Buhari was busy dining with his fellow Fulani Emir of Kano and posting pictures by his aides. That says a lot angry
Lesson learned

This govt is demonic. They are bent towards destruction. We're not backing down. We will make or mar this country depending on how they treat us.

Very stupid, wicked, blood-thirsty, greedy people. God will rain judgement and terrible death on whoever is involved in the death of these unarmed protesters be it the soldiers who shot, Tinubu, Sanwoolu and the fool in charge at Aso Rock. Tinubu you will die a shameful, grievous death even if you become President.

Sanwoolu smiled and asked for youth representatives on #EndSARS  . What a joke.

Next time he asks for representatives for his fake panel, tell him the army shot the people we selected

We Can't Breathe!

Can't believe all this is happening in a democratic setting.
The thought process of this massacre, annihilation and onslaught gives me the chills.
1. Announce an impossible-to- meet curfew.
2. Dismantle the CCTV at strategic locations.
3. Switch off the lights.
4. Open fire on unarmed protesters sitting down, holding the Nigerian flag AND singing the national anthem.
5. Carry the dead bodies away from the scene.
6. Come out and deny every involvement of the military despite multiple evidences.

There's no need to absolve Sanwo olu from any of this.
The guys who pulled the trigger weren't under his control, fine.
The switching off of the street lights and taking down the cameras are DIRECTLY under his control as a governor and he supported that action that made it difficult for the world to see what happened.
By the way, Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has shown that person wey get the mind to do good can and will do good.
He didn't stop the protests, he arrested the thugs AND provided security for the protesters.
So no need to absolve Sanwo olu of any guilt or blame.

All of this because the youths say 'stop killing us'
They say they needed time to do what we asked but won't stop killing us.
How are we to trust this government?
How are we to trust the processes you said you have started?

Make all of this make sense please?

I am sad, heartbroken, depressed and enraged.
This shouldn't be happening......especially in a democracy

When some nairalanders use to say Buhari is dead, I use to laugh it off as mere jokes and crazy talk.... But I'm starting to believe it.

I mean with all that is going on, our president is nowhere to be found.... He is not even pretending to care at all.
