Just saw £600 refund for my health insurance surcharge. I renewed my visa last year but changed employer this year so had to apply for a new visa.

Got visa success email yesterday, checked account just how to see my £600 refund jeje. I didn’t apply for a separate refund ooo.

Congratulations. Are you an healthcare worker? That could explain the refund.

Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting the refund at all. I was still trying to find to apply for the refund using the link that was pasted here some weeks back.

Imagine £600 that I have forgotten about!!!

oh so sorry..
maybe in England it is a different ball game
but in Aberdeen, I didn't need to show that I had been there for a while trying to get an accommodation.
I was fortunate to get one from a private landlord thorugh a friend though..
I hope it works out for you..

Nevermind, just got a prompt response regarding question number 2 from the Home Office.

EmmyKing86:
Good afternoon all.

Please, I have some questions, and again it is on passport renewal.

1) For those who applied for passoprt renewal during the lockdown period, after payment did you also have to fill the Biometric Appointment Booking Form. My payment was on August 24th and did not realize I had to fill the form untill yesterday. Will this affect my appointment date?

2) Will there be any form of consequence if a tier 2 holders passport gets renewed some weeks/months after the expiry date (while the BRP is still very valid)?

Many thanks in advance.

Good evening everyone, a quick answer will be appreciated.

1. For Nigeria living in Bristol, UK what is life like for a masters student?

2. For someone whose plan is to work alongside with study to compliment living expenses how workable is this plan?

3. What is the average living expenses for family of 3 per month:
3i Rent per month
3ii Cost of living including food, drink e.t.c per month

4. Any prospect for IT professional in Bristol during and after Masters degree?

Thanks for your responses, God bless

1. Please edit, your question/sentence is not complete.
2. It is possible to work to augment your savings. Hopefully finding a job won't be too difficult but bear in mind that unemployment has increased due to COVID-19
3. Your school should have provided this information to you. If not, check your school website.
4. There's always prospect for jobs. Put in the effort and see if you find something. If you are looking for graduate roles, you must have started applying by now for September 2021 start. Leave it till November or December and things get more difficult.

Hello House, Got into the UK about 2 weeks ago. Started processing for accommodation while in Nigeria. A friend in Coventry help us check out the house, lovely as seen on the internet, we paid the deposit, they began the processing, some days ago we were informed we got the house, then today was called back that the landlord rejected us. Wasted 3 whole weeks. Every house we see and like, we get responses like the landlord doesnt want students. We even offered to pay 6 months rent and there seem to be no available house. is there anyone in coventry that can advise? My Quarantine will be over by saturday and im just confused.

Sorry about that, first house search in this country always like that. My advise is try getting a UK resident as guarantor (usually with a salary cap)if you dont have one.

Just keep looking and searching and you will eventually find an agent or LL willing to rent to you. There are loads of options so save and contact as many as possible.

All the best

How many are you and what type of accomodation do you want. Is advisable you go for a shared apartment first before going for house. If you want house, try and use Zoopla to search.

You are searching in a wrong areas, always search within the university post code, use gumtree and narrow your search down within post code of your university. https://www.gumtree.com/all/coventry/student-accommodation(filter it to select private landlord)

Welcome to the UK... residential landlords will hardly give their houses to students. How many are you precisely? If you are up to 5 then the landlord would need a licence to rent it out to you guys...so You need to look for a shared house or a house in multiple occupation (hmo)....you can search on spareroom.co.uk , www.rentaroom.biz or just google shared house Coventry (or the postcode you want)
