In August 1967, three months into the Biafran War, Biafran troops invaded the Midwest Region, to the west of the
River Niger . They spread west, taking
Benin City and reaching as far as
Ore , where they were pushed back by the Nigerian Second Division, under the command of Col. Murtala Muhammed.
The Federal troops gained the upper hand, and forced the Biafrans back to the Niger, where they crossed the bridge back into the Biafran city of
Onitsha , which lies directly across from Asaba. The Biafrans blew up the eastern spans of the bridge, so that the Federal troops were unable to pursue them.
Massacre
The Federal troops entered Asaba around 5 October, and began ransacking houses and killing civilians, claiming they were Biafran sympathisers. Reports suggest that several hundred may have been killed individually and in groups at various locations in the town. Leaders summoned the townspeople to assemble on the morning of 7 October, hoping to end the violence through a show of support for "One Nigeria." Hundreds of men, women, and children, many wearing the ceremonial
akwa ocha (white) attire paraded along the main street, singing, dancing, and chanting "One Nigeria." At a junction, men and teenage boys were separated from women and young children, and gathered in an open square at Ogbe-Osowa village. Federal troops revealed machine guns, and orders were given, reportedly by Second-in-Command, Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo , to open fire. It is estimated that more than 700 men and boys were killed, some as young as 12 years old, in addition to many more killed in the preceding days.
The bodies of some victims were retrieved by family members and buried at home. But most were buried in mass graves , without appropriate ceremony. Many extended families lost dozens of men and boys. Federal troops occupied Asaba for many months, during which time most of the town was destroyed, many women and girls were raped or forcibly "married," and large numbers of citizens fled, often not returning until the war ended in 1970. The total death toll during early October was in excess of 1,000, although the exact numbers will likely never be known.
Suspect
Ibrahim B. Haruna has sometimes been named as the officer who ordered the massacre, following a report of his testimony to the Nigerian Human Rights Violations Investigations Commission, known as the Oputa Panel. [1] This article quoted him as claiming responsibility (as the commanding officer) and having no apology for the atrocity. However, Haruna was not present in Asaba in 1967. He replaced Murtala Muhammed as C.O. of the Second Division in spring 1968. While there are no eye-witness reports of Muhammed ordering the killings, he was the Commander in the field, and thus must bear responsibility.
In October 2017, the Asaba community marked the anniversary of the massacres with a two-day commemoration

One the night of October 20th 2020 peaceful protesters at Lekki Lagos State Nigeria who where protesting bad Governance were also massacred and killed in cold blood by coordinated attacks pepertrated by the evil Nigerian government.

one thing in common with these attacks is that the victims died when their level of patriotism and solidarity to the Nigerian state was at it's highest peak.it also shows that the fulani led administration doesn't care about non fulanis/Muslims no matter their level of commitment to Nigeria.you are more liable to death when you show patriotism to Nigeria that's what just played out and happened to over 70 Lekki protesters who sang the national anthem and waved the Nigerian flag only for their dreams and aspirations to be cut short by the demons who rule nigeria.Nigeria must either break up or be restructured by force.

After Peaceful protesters were killed
Politicians /APC apologist are now blaming a tribe for aiding the destruction
But they couldn’t condemn the killing
They are after property as people’s life don’t matter
Any body blaming any tribe for this
But,couldn’t condemn the killing
Are agents of this failed government, they are regrouping to start looting
Just as looting bind them together so as suffering bind us too
Let no one be fooled
I don’t encourage destroying of poverty
Yes we know the anger is much and can’t be controlled
Please let’s be guarded from those snakes we are fighting against, not to infiltrate us
Let all this apologist use their skills to persuade buhari to talk and dissolve sars
And not blaming any one
They are after property as people’s life don’t matter

We don’t care
We are resetting Nigeria
Their plans are now to set southerners against each other
Make we wise up

we need to know that the NO 1 enemies of Nigeria are the fulanis/hausas.

remove these people from Nigeria and 40 percent of Nigeria problems are automatically solved.it is either the country breaks up or restructure but I don't see the fulanis allowing Nigeria to restructure because it would interfere with their evil agenda hence break up is a more better option

Beware southerners. This is the time to know and understand the true identity of those who cause tribalism on here, they are payed agents, they are neither from east or west. They have more than twenty accounts, they would create tribal topics and make tribal comments with another accounts to cause chaos between southerners. Though, they have no conscience but you can try to educate them or better ignore them. They are easy to identify, use your head brothers. Beware.
