He is totally Ok trust me,children learn at different stages, buy white board and give him marker, find out if he likes to draw ,use musical tutorials and play in it on a wireless speaker around the house,you can get some children tutorials on google play ,,Coco melon on youtube ,lastly abc spelling on google play. you drop your number ,I can call u.

There's nothing wrong with your son, boys generally develop a bit later than girls.

You and your wife are making learning a chore for the boy by beating him always. It has to be done in a fun way. The same way YouTube is good for learning adults is the same way children can learn from Youtube. What you need is ABC nursery rhymes and YouTube has loads of them targeted at toddlers. It needs to be fun, not by force! You need to inundate him/her with ABC and 123 nursery rhymes. And No, you can't just buy video cd and leave him to watch alone, you have to join him in watching and singing along the 123 and ABC nursery rhymes.

I have been teaching for years now, and I do experience such challenge from some pupils.
However, We in this part of the world have a norm that children must learn with cane(beating). it only makes such child scared, overwhelmed and regret any time he or she sees a book..

As a father, pray for the child, also bring him closer to you and teach him yourself in love.
Children learn faster when they are taught in love.. I don't know if you understand the love I mearnt. buy him his favorite and only promise to give him if he reads and write 1- 20, A to Z. you can start small and not bulky or else he would find it boring ...

I have bought Video CD, bought many play book materials containing letters and figures displayed boldly, I bought counting and so on when he was 2 years so i expect a better result by now.

pls sir and ma, I need help on how to guide this boy to learn better, what should I do and how should I go about it.

firstly, your wife should stop beating him. That's an archaic way of teaching a child and it can never work

He is still a baby please stop forcing him , he will pick up. We are always in a hurry in Nigeria in America a child of 3yrs cannot be admitted in any school. I know a medical doctor today when he was 8yrs old he was not able to read ABC talkless of 123 but today he is medical doctor. My son of 5yrs cannot write well, I went to enrol him in primary school after the school tested him they said he can't be admitted in basic 1 I insisted he was admitted today just after 3weeks he can write and read very well. Covid lockdown affected most kids. Your child will improve just enrol him in a school.

How can physically beating a 3 years old be for his good....guy think

Stop beating the boy baba, he won't learn anything that way, its like you are forgetting these children stayed at home for 6 whole months lost the whole of third term and some weeks in 2nd term. Learning should be fun for his age now, he can read numbers, he would get the letters too.

Besides at that age they are still working on his writing skills lots of 3 year old can't write well, their writing skills are still being worked on, some are even still scribbling.

You've mentioned how the kid is good with numbers. How about you take that as his forte and encourage him more in that line.

I won't say he could be autistic or a special needs kid yet for a lack of any professional diagnostics, but I'm sure there isn't anything wrong with your son.

You guys need to allow the kid be a kid and quit with the mental, emotional, and physical abuses on such a young fragile mind.

Don't worry he would catch up soon. Some kids are like that. .it would be like magic when he eventually starts writing and identifying letters and numbers.

It's too early to worry. If your child is active and interactive, then you have nothing to worry about. Children do not hit their milestones uniformly. Each child differs. I have a 3 year old close to me who still speaks incoherently. Years from now, you will look back on this post and laugh. Allow your son develop at his own pace.

Sincerely can’t understand why Nigerian parents are in so much hurry to send their kids to school. At age 3, your child should be home with his mom, not stressing his young brain....

At that age, all I was interested in was playing with sand and asking for food when it was time.

Even at age 8, I couldn't spell some simple words correctly.

I never read my books for any exam in primary school. Na so so play.

It's not a problem at all. Find out his performance in school from the teacher. My son is 3yrs as well. I noticed that if we ask him to do homework, he would not but if an outsider asks him to do same work, he will do it perfectly. Once we identified that, we immediately got a home teacher and he's performing well. But if we (my wife and I) ask him to write, infact, he won't take us serious...

If he is just moving to nursery classes then he is still okay with what he knows already.
Let me do a short breakdown for you
Playgroup/kindergarten (1yearold) -all they go to school to do is play sing rhymes and sleep
Prenusery1/kg1 (2year old)- learn life basic skills, greetings etc sing rhymes play and sleep. Some schools may introduce them to the alphabet but they don't really expect them to Know it
Prenusery2/kg2(3year old)- they start giving them pencil so their wrist will be trained to hold it well, they start reading the ABC so they will get used to it

Then Nursery 1 and 2 by now they would have known how to hold a pencil properly here they will start learning numbers up to 100/200 so when they get to nursery 2 the will start all these 2/3 letter word.





Just keep calm and find time for your kid. Monitor his improvement and communicate well with his teacher

Pls, we should stop misleading people. Age to enrol a child in school is 6 years but the quest for some parents n private school owners will say a different thing. This is one of the reasons today's graduate r messing up big time. The father should not stress himself when the boy gets to his picking point, he will respond positively. Just encourage the child.

My 3yr+6m writes 1-100
A-Z and a-z courtesy of ME!
During the lockdown,had to engage him by using a white board,note books and new textbooks and he picked up.
He still writes everyday to avoid going back to square1

Please don't frustrate this Child and ruining his future, he is just 3 years old for crying out loud! Since he is good with figures, why don't you encourage him in that area! My God he is just 3 years. My youngest brother had such challenges, we later discovered he sees words upside down, since we corrected his sight with eye glasses, he's doing great!

Lastly, you wey the beat the baby, are you feeding him well to develop his brain and metal faculty!

Please making reading and studying fun for our son.
