Course: Msc - thesis based with 20k funding for each year. The program has a minimum funding amount that every student gets once admitted.
Tuition is ~9k cad. I did not pay any tuition or deposit.
Course is a bit related to my undergraduate degree but the relationship won’t be very clear to someone not in the field, so I took my time to show the relationship in my SOP. I stated the relationship between my previous study and the course, and also some voluntary work/courses I did relating to the course. I also stated some courses from my undergrad degree that are related to the course I applied for. I stated that those related courses from my undergrad have laid a foundation that would make me successful in the course I’m going for in Canada.
Documents submitted The 3 forms as seen on my checklist on my GC account after answering the questionnaire. I did not print out any form to sign by hand. I gave a signature(by writing my full name as in my passport) on the portal there before submitting my application that covered for everything. I put dates in the required spaces though.
Upfront medical slip uploaded to the upfront medical session (gotten from the clinic after I completed my exam) NB: if you want to attach an upfront medical exam slip before submitting your application and you can’t find the “upfront medical exam” section to upload your medical slip, it means you did not answer the questionnaire properly. Please go back and make sure you choose “YES” when asked if you’ve had any medical exam with a panel physician in the last 12 months.
Conditional LOA for January 2021 (condition to be fulfilled: sending transcript and degree certificate to the University)
Digital photo (according to the stated specification on the GC account when you click the question mark sign next to the name of the document)
International passport (old ones and current one) Included all pages with entry/exit stamps and visas
POF documents: Total funds 6m + 10k cad transferred to me + 20k funding from my program
•Sponsor’s Bank statement •Applicant’s bank statement •Payslip of sponsor •Business registration documents of sponsor •Sponsor’s letter of Introduction from employer •Last promotion letter of sponsor •Employment letter for sponsor •Sponsor’s pension statement (was not used as a proof of fund, just to show sponsor has back up money post-retirement) •Property proof of sponsor •Sponsorship letter (no affidavit was done, sponsor just signed) •Included LOA to show funding received •Screenshot for conversion of amounts in account to CAD (with time and date showing)
Client information •LOE 4 pages (3 pages of write up and the last page was a list of documents I attached to the client information section and what page they can be found on) •Birth certificate of applicant •Uni Transcript •Degree Certificate •WAEC result •IELTS result •Certificates from courses/trainings related to the proposed course I’m going for •CV/resume •Documents showing proof of voluntary work since completion of my last degree (for gap since my last study) •Deed of gift for a land from sponsor •Sale agreement for a property to explain lump sum deposit in sponsor’s SOA •Police character certificate(only the certificate, that’s the first page) •Picture showing sponsor and I •Certificate of state of origin
TIP: Arrange your documents properly. Make it easy for the visa officer to go through your application. I had a table of content for most sections listing out the documents it contained and what page they were on.
All the best to everyone expecting good news. Thanks to everyone in the house who assisted in one way or the other. I’ll be here to assist others too.

Hello Everyone, A quick one; please is there any school that accepts Nigerian PGD in Canada for their Masters Programme. I know some schools in UK accepts it though. I have both HND (Upper Credit) and PGD (Distinction) both in Computer Science as I intend going for Masters in Data Analytics/Big Data/Artificial Intelligence. I've made lots of research on this, but it seems most Canadian Unis accepts only HND or BSc (2.2) for their PGD/C. Please help, your input will be very much appreciated!!! |

Good day guys, can i ask a question again.
Will it be a red-flag on my 2nd application if I switch from my previous visa-denial course (IT-Network administration) to now Project Management (my work experience).

Thank you very much Chukwubuikexo: Be very clear and state explicitly all of the VO's concerns and address them adequately. Goodluck

Thank you Phatkayconcept:
You have a very strong educational profile, yet, you wanted to start all over again. Simple job for the VO.
Don't parabulate, with a 2.1 in insurance and work experience in sales and marketing. Simply find a master's degree program in related area and connect salient similarities to show career and educational progression.
Don't weaken your profile with wrong courses and program combination.
You already have a star profile, you shouldn't be denied a visa, based on purpose of visit.
Don't shy away from the stress and difficulty of getting master's admission. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by biyilove200(m): 12:53pm On Oct 23, 2020 |
Thank you for your time. Chocs: Hello biyilove
In my opinion, the course is okay. The level of the course might be the problem. 4 years, loads of money just to gain knowledge, when you already have a Bsc? If I were the visa officer, I won’t buy it. You should go for a masters since you have a 2.1, and in the worst case a PGD. That would make much sense. There is no problem with going with a new course and level. Go ahead. State how this course will benefit your career, why it makes sense to spend such a huge sum on the course and why you didn’t do the course in Nigeria because these courses are widely available here. You indicated you’ll take over your dad’s real estate business, will the course you’re going for equip you with the ability to take over? If no, please drop that line. Anything you want to put in your SOP, think about it and make sure it’s reasonable and logical.
Strategic marketing coms. Is it closely related to your work line? Sorry I’m not in the field so I don’t know. But looking at it from the outside it looks different to me. Make sure you’re picking the right course to avoid purpose of visit denial.
For employment ties, submit an employment proof, a letter of introduction, your pay slips of 3-4 months and a study leave letter. Since your work is in marketing, mention some things you have achieved during your job.
All the best

Thank you Chukwubuikexo: Honorable, you should be going for a MSc. Be more elaborate on you SOP, talk about what you have achieved as a sales exec, how important you intended course is to Nigeria and your long term goals. Concerning your employment ties, you should also add you payment slips, professional training certificates (if any), study leave approval letter from your company as supporting documents

heidepaper: Hello,
Welcome to the house
AIP - approval in principle. It was a system created due to covid-19 where people were given an approval to start online classes before finalization of the study permit processing BVL - biometric validity letter. You get this when your application decision has been made. A day or 2 after you’ll get your decision. PPR- passport request. If approved, you’ll be asked to send your passport
I don’t understand the last part of your text. What was approved? Her visa? If yes, she should send her passport.
Take care
no, her visa isn't approved. she (my friend) actually said the first step which is her statement of account has been approved. after the approval of funds or proof of funds whats next? |

rebecausoro:
I started classes since September o. All of my classes are live on Zoom. It was interesting at first but it has started to become funny, especially without the permit approval. People are even asking me weird questions concerning my travel and I don't even know how to respond because Canada is messing things up for me... I can't access my funding money because I'm not in Canada yet. I even had to renew house rent that I didn't plan to renew. Things are just funny.
I have three presentations within the next two weeks and I can't focus without thinking about study permit. Sorry that I'm ranting. I can be so emotional like that. It's fine. I understand the way you feel. Hopefully you'll recieve a good news soon. All the best. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Nobody: 1:22pm On Oct 23, 2020 |
Yes, I requested a gcms note. Here's the VO's point: "No support for previous travel to assess as a positive. No support for personal income funds from a third party. Assessment of obligation is not practical. Not satisfied of provenance of and thus availability of funds to meet requirements of R216. After considering the applicants academic and professional history their financial situation as well as there planned studies and explanation provided for it, I am not satisfied that the applicant is a genuine student who who will pursue studies in Canada. The stated benefits of their intended studies does not seem to warrant the cost and difficulty of undergoing a foreign education. I am therefore not satisfied that the applicant will leave Canada at the end of the period authorised for their stay as required by R216(b). Refused." I wasn't working as at then in 2018 because I just completed my NYSC and was still searching. However I have a good job now and reasonable amount in my savings. I have also completed my ICAN exams and qualified as a chartered accountant. I have also acquired a landed property in my name and also have a good pension fund so I hope those will address his other concerns. And I have fully explained those in my LOE. I have also worked better on my purpose of study and buttressed the point more in my LOE. However, I wasn't really able to write valid points to address the travel history. Then I am not so sure of the VO's concern about the proof of fund as my sponsor is my uncle who bears the same surname with me and my dad is late and my uncle has been the one sponsoring my education since I was in high school, I have also explained this in my LOE. Is there anything else you think the VO might want to see in this regard. I will appreciate more suggestions from the house on how I can improve my chances. Thanks Chocs: Hello Glasses08
May I ask if you requested a gcms notes for this application? If you didn’t, please request one immediately. The gcms notes will show the visa officer’s exact concern. The reasons in the refusal letters are usually generic.
Travel history on its own is not a big issue. Were there any other reasons given to you? If yes, please let the house know.
If you tackle all other reasons, you can just write a short explanation that you’ve not had any need to travel out of the country, that’s why there was no travel history.
From experience, travel history as a reason for refusal rarely stands alone. They just add it to other reasons. So you should aim at seeing the other reasons and solving them too. Not just the travel history.
Best wishes
