gidgiddy: Most enlightened Igbos like myself are against Kanu and with time we'll enlighten others to cut off his excesses. In as much as Fellow Nigerians never showed special love to the Igbos, Kanu has made everything worse. U think electing a Fulani man is because they love them? Fulani man only has such luxury because they control a greater part of the Nigerian population (North/Religion) apart from that they rarely get acceptance into any southern or Nigerian society and that's the resentment people have for an average Fulani person. I'll categorically tell you that Nnamdi Kanu and his blind supporters are one among the numerous problems of Igbo, seems you've never experienced or seen IPOB in action, they're one hell of primitive lots thanks to Kanu who has successfully sold his ideology to to them, They sees killing, war and destruction as the solution to everything, Their blind followership and extremism makes them no different from core Muslim who believes in killing & dying for Allah. How a person will believe Nnamdi Kanu to be the Messiah who will restore Biafra remains a mystery to me. Even if Biafra will be restored it's definitely not thru Nnamdi Kanu whose approaches contradicts our Igbo culture. Igbos are not the only tribes that are part of the failed Nigerian state, If other tribes can find their way to survive I doubt Igbo of all tribes shouldn't. The civil war scar which Igbo had was gradually healing till Kanu showed up and opened the entire sore again. The earlier we tame this monster, the better for us.. 7 Likes |

A STATE-WIDE BROADCAST REINFORCING THE PROSCRIPTION OF IPOB IN RIVERS STATE BY GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE, CON, GSSRS, POS 23rd OCTOBER 2020. My Dear Good People of Rivers State, 2. The Rivers State Government views with serious concern the unending destructive activities of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples Organization of Biafra (IPOB) in Rivers State. 3. Recall that the IPOB was classified as a terrorist organization by the Federal High Court and subsequently proscribed in September 2017 by the Federal Government. 4. However, despite its ban, the group has continued to operate in parts of the country, including Rivers State in furtherance of its alien political objectives. 5. Since its proscription, the group has carried out intermittent processions in parts of Rivers State, especially in Oyigbo and some notorious suburbs in Port Harcourt Local Government Areas. 6. More often than not, these illegal processions have become regular occasions for armed IPOB members to disturb the peace of the State by unleashing violence and destruction on lives and property at will. 7. The Rivers State Government had severally pleaded, warned and even advised IPOB and its members to discontinue its insurrectional actions in Rivers State to no avail. 8. Instead, we were all witnesses to yet, another orgy of violence and destruction inflicted by IPOB at Oyigbo Local Government Area and some parts of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Tuesday 21st October 2020. 9. This evil, wicked and audacious action resulted in the unnecessary loss of scores of lives, including soldiers and police officers, and the destruction of both public and private properties, including police stations, court buildings and business premises. 10. Not done, they also visited physical violence on members of some targeted community which, but, for the quick intervention of the State Government and the security agencies, would have resulted in some form of internecine bloodbath in the State. 11. Today, IPOB continued with its devilish and destructive activities at Rumukwurushi, Iriebe and Oyigbo in open defiance of the State Government’s curfew on human movements. 12. Security intelligence and surveillance have revealed that IPOB has continued to expand its membership drive, holding meetings regularly, and expanding its logistical base, including the maintenance of illegal detention cells in Emenike and other parts of Diobu, Port Harcourt. 13. As a matter of fact, Oyigbo town has practically become the group’s main operational base in Rivers State, from which they’ve become notorious for launching premeditated violence and terror on the State, businesses and innocent citizens. 14. As a people, we have become very much unsettled by the terrorist acts and endured the continuing irritations, violence, destruction and provocations of IPOB in and against the people of Rivers State. 15. We agree that Rivers State is part of Nigeria and has always been a home for all Nigerians and will continue to be because this is our true character. 16. But it must also be understood that Rivers State belongs to the indigenous people of Rivers State. 17. As a stranger element with strange political ideology therefore, IPOB has no legal or moral right to invade Rivers State or any part therefore at its behest; to disturb public peace; and subject lives and property to violence or threat of destruction under any guise. 18. What is clear from this behaviour is that our love, accommodation and hospitality towards all are being mistaken for weakness by the banned IPOB. 19. This being so, the time has come for us to sound this notice of warning that: enough is enough!!! We can no longer tolerate this IPOB evil monster in Rivers State. Never. 20. As a Government, we owe our people and all residents the responsibility to protect their lives, property and wellbeing and to prevent trouble-makers of all shades and character from violating our collective peace, security and pursuit of happiness. 21. Therefore, in view of the fact that IPOB has since been proscribed throughout Nigeria; and 22. Having come to the firm conclusion that the activities of the banned IPOB are not just dangerous to lives and property but also constitute clear and present threat to the existential interest and aspirations of Rivers State and all our people; 23. We have decided to reinforce, implement and enforce the existing judicial and national ban on IPOB by putting a total and complete stop to its presence and or activities in Rivers State or any part thereof. 24. Accordingly, as from today 23rd October 2020, the Rivers State Government has: [ ] (ii) Outlawed IPOB from existing and or operating in Rivers State or any part thereof in line with the proscription order of the Federal High Court and the Federal Government. (ii) No form of procession and or agitation by IPOB or any of its affiliates is allowed to take place in Rivers State or any part thereof, hence forth. (iii) Security agencies are hereby directed to stop any form of procession or agitation by IPOB in Rivers State or any part thereof and arrest and prosecute any person or group that identifies with the membership or activities of IPOB in the State; (iv) Government will issue an executive order to strengthen and ensure the effective enforcement of these measures; (v) I will be meeting with all leaders of youth groups and community development committees in the State on Monday 26th October 2020 to take wholistic measures to counter and stop all IPOB activities in Rivers State; (vi) Mr. Stanley Mgbere from Onne is hereby declared wanted for leading members of the banned IPOB to cause the recent violence and destruction of lives and property in Onne in Eleme Local Government Area; and (vii) A ransom of N50,000,000.00 will be given to any person with useful information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the said Mr. Stanley Mgbere. 25. I wish to appeal to the people of Oyigbo Local Government Area to remain calm and not to take the laws into their hands despite the intense provocation as government has the capacity to deal with the challenge and ensure the safety of lives and property in the Local Government Area. 26. We will soon carry out on the spot inspection and assessment of the destruction they have suffered and take appropriate measures to mitigate the loss and damage caused to lives and property. 27. We hereby express our sympathies to the families of all those that have either lost their loved ones or suffered damages to their properties from the destructive acts of IPOB in our State. 28. Be assured that they have not died in vain and we will do everything within our powers to give all the victims justice. 29. We appeal to leaders of the various ethnic groups residents in the State to ensure that their members respect the sensibilities of our people and refrain from provocations and acts of hooliganism that could breach peace and security in the State. 30. Finally, I wish to assure all Nigerians that Rivers State will continue to be the home for all tribes as we will not shirk in our responsibility to ensure the peace, security and happiness of all residents in Rivers State. 31. We cannot allow IPOB miscreants and other misguided similar groups to threaten our collective peace, security and wellbeing under whatever guise. 32. Thank you and may God continue to bless Rivers State. https://www.facebook.com/672482079562653/posts/2309677489176429/?app=fbl 2 Likes |

Ahamefuna0001: Well I hope you so called 'enlightened Igbos' find an alternative to Kanu because so far, that has not happened and it has not happened for a simple reason. Whatever evil anyone thinks Kanu is, its hard to convince most Igbos that Nigeria isnt a bigger evil. If the civil war scar had actually healed, Kanu would not have been able to open it because it is healed. This is not about Nnamdi Kanu, this is more about the fact that Nigeria is a failed state and time as come to assess the union. For me as an Igbo man, Nigeria has failed and what I want is for Igbos to be given the choice if they want carry on with Nigeria or become an independent country. Thats the same thing Nnamdi Kanu wants. Of course he may want other tribes in the South of Nigeria included, but since it is by referendum, I have no problem with that Nnamdi Kanu or no Nnamdi Kanu, let Igbos choose by democratic referendum if they want to be part of Nigeria 5 Likes |

gidgiddy: Igbo is among the big three tribes in Nigeria and they're supposed to eat at the table along side others and we've been maintaining our spot since 1983 till 2015, for God's sake Igbo is not a minority tribe who will be crying everyday, we're a major tribe and IPOB should get this into their head. IPOB tactics is making the Fulani look So powerful, Knowledgeable and wisest, making it look as if Igbos are powerless and in slavery. We both know that achieving Biafra with referendum is highly impossible seeing the many forces against it. All European/American super powers (USA, UK, France, Russia, Germany and even China ) have a stake in this Nigerian project and will definitely be against it, Then why pushing for a course that will only cause more deaths and resentment to your people all over the country? Yorubas have been the highest gainers in this Nigerian project so far but they can't push for secession because they know what's involved. Kanu's approach of not respecting other people's space and culture is also an undoing. Its high time Igbos get themselves fully involved in the Nigerian project, we should be sharpening our sword against 2023 to get our rightful pound of flesh in the Nigerian project as we did in the Obj and Good luck regime, We should be preparing whatever candidate we've got that will represent our interest. The era of Igbos been a cry baby is over. If Igbo should lose focus here then we'll be gradually losing relevance that every dick and harry can come trample on us. In this same country Igbos have held every elective positions save for the Presidency which will be achieved hopefully come 2023. 6 Likes |

Juliusmalema: Their was a time I saw need for Ipob (early 2016) but these days that organization and it's supporters need to be caught to size. Yes Nnamdi kanu points out the faults and deficiency in our country ,but this protests has reinforced my opinion that he would make for a bad leader. Most of his followers are extremist and very prone to violence. He has made his followers believe that Nigeria is responsible for their every shortcoming. what am driving at is that this isn't an Abia issue-its an Igbo issue. The guy went on air spurring destruction of public facilities in the East and encouraged them to face the security forces-thats why the situation degenerated as such. In ABA as of today, over 4 banks have been looted and burnt, the fire service torched, a new mall springing up vandalised, and many other government offices burnt. As am typing this ,u can't sleep cause armed robbers are disposing people of their valuables and dignity-possibly with arms recovered from the police 2 Likes |

edochie12: I don't care what happens in other places, My only concern is what happens in Alaigbo, The incident which caused security forces who killed unarmed citizens is currently investigated, US and UK are issuing ban and freezing of assets of leaders involved till the truth comes out. Nnamdi Kanu/IPOB were fully involved in the protest as they've hijacked the once peaceful protest in the east. So you haven't seen videos of IPOB in action? or even audios of Kanu's directives? U must be blind or deaf or both. There's nothing like slavery mentality here you're the one with such mentality instead. How on earth will an educated man like you believe Kanu is here to liberate you? Who's oppressing you? Igbo can never be oppressed and even if they're been oppressed is it Kanu that will come end the oppression? this your IPOB propaganda is getting stale. U and your likes needs to be flushed out immediately for sanity to be restored in the entire South East. 4 Likes |

Anambra Youths Hold Clean Up Exercise In Awka And Environs By Ngozi Obileri ( ABS News) Even in the face of anger and rage, Anambra youths have shown their loyalty and patriotism by cleaning the streets of Awka after the recent protests in some parts of the state, that led to burnt tyres and other debris littering the streets. The ‘Let’s Clean Awka’ initiative was championed by Tripple Three Media and some progressive youths. The exercise kicked off from Dr. Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, to House of Assembly junction by Enugu-Onitsha express road , Arroma junction, Government house, Regina Ceali junction, UNIZIK junction and Eke Awka round about. The youths were seen sweeping and carting away debris especially burnt tires and keeping the debris at strategic places to be evacuated later. Speaking to the ABS, the leader of the group Mr Ifeanyichukwu Izundu said they decided to clean up the rubbish to return Awka to its normal look and also to help residents of the city to leave the events of the last few days behind and move on with their lives. Mr Izundu appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to harken to the yearnings of the youths to ensure lasting peace . He reminded the youths of the need to stop destruction of lives and property, and said that being violent will cause more harm than good. Mr Izundu noted that the properties some people are destroying (government and individually owned) are to the disadvantage of every one. On her part, another youth Miss Chinelo Umeokafor said that she saw the ‘let's Clean Awka’ promo online and decided to join as according to her, she is an indigene of the state and must contribute her quota towards the good of the state. She appreciated Governor Obiano for the institution of a judicial panel of enquiry to look into the alleged extra judicial killings by the defunct SARS and police brutality saying that it is a right step in the right direction. She called on the youths to calm down and give government time to work on their demands expressing optimism that Anambra state government will not disappoint the youths. Ahamefuna0001: Same here! We're just not wired like that! Of course there are criminal elements in all grps and ethnicities, and the unemployment and poverty levels in the country helps galvanise those who would otherwise have sat on the fence and not get involved in criminality! But, by and large, going out to destroy public infrastructure and peoples private businesses is just not in our character....esp' when we know how marginalised and cheated we are as a region and ethnicity in the larger Nigerian political-economy! This is why you didn't see as much looting and destruction of public and private property in the south-east and south-south as you saw in Lagos and Abuja! |
