Ahoy Ahoy
Most times, this is all it takes to build. Determination and believe in ones self. It really is not that hard.
Kudos NN. Hats off to ya.
And even though we don't say it enough, Nigeria is proud of you. Keep building. The next one should be bigger.
If we have to import quality steel sheets to enable mass fabrication then so be it, at least until Ajaokuta comes back online, working with the Russians.
Jobs, jobs, jobs, quality, fulfilling jobs to construct, fabricate a finished product makes a proud nation. cool

Soldiers killed over 10 peaceful demonstrators and left scores more injured.
After Initial denial by the Nigerian Army that its officers were not at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, where peaceful protesters were shot and killed last Tuesday, the military has come out to say its officers were only ensuring compliance with a curfew put in place by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earlier that day.
Soldiers killed over 10 peaceful demonstrators and left scores more injured.
The Nigerian Army has now said its officers were simply ensuring compliance with the curfew put in place in Lagos State.
In a statement credited to the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Sagir Musa, said some people were trying to discredit the military and Nigerian Government.
Though Musa did not make direct reference to Tuesday killings at Lekki, he said, "Detractors both local and international have mischievously and deliberately misrepresented troops’ efforts to ensure compliance with the curfew imposed by legitimate civil authorities in Lagos and other states.
“These agitators are falsely accusing the NA of being responsible for the activities of the miscreants despite glaring evidence to the contrary.”
He also decried that the detractors are threatening to report the Nigerian Army to the International Criminal Court and also impose a visa ban on them from foreign countries.
“Criminal elements are threatening us with travel ban but we are not worried because we must remain in this country to make it better.
“The first time I travelled outside this country, I was already 50 years and a general, so I don’t mind if I live the rest of my life here,” Buratai said.
SaharaReporters had revealed that the soldiers involved in the attack on peaceful protesters were deployed from 65 Battalion, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos.
“They came in two Hilux vans with at least eight bodies. Some were still alive when they returned. They dumped them at MRS Hospital. They told us clearly that it was Governor Sanwo-Olu that sent them,” a brother to one of the victims told SaharaReporters.
Contrary to the denial by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu, that he knew nothing about the killing and maiming of peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate area of the state by personnel of the Nigerian Army, soldiers involved in the operation have since confirmed that they were actually drafted in for the mission on the request of the governor.

SAHARA REPORTERS

Is this a volte-face? Accepting that the army were indeed at Lekki Toll Gate after initial denials? Pray, tell.

Is that Gen Buratai in the black? If so, what would an Army Chief of Staff be doing "in combat"?

FIGHT AGAINST INSURGENCY: NAF WINGS ANOTHER COMBAT HELICOPTER PILOT

Barely a month after a combined graduation of Basic Flying Course and Tactical Flying Course, where 4 officers were decorated with their Basic Pilot Wings and 2 other officers awarded Limited Combat Rating certificates, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 27 October 2020, winged another combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Shehu Ibrahim, after his Basic and Advanced Helicopter Flying Training at the Indian Air Force Helicopter Flying Training School, Hakimpat, India. The winging of the combat pilot is yet another milestone in the NAF’s capacity building initiative to meet emerging and contemporary security challenges in the Country.

Speaking during the winging ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, expressed delight to receive the young pilot back from India and congratulated him for his outstanding performance during the Courses. The CAS emphasized that the NAF considers the human being as its most important resource and would therefore continue to invest heavily in equipping its personnel with the requisite skills to enable them be more effective and efficient in carrying out assigned tasks. In this regard, he revealed that about 200 NAF personnel were currently undergoing training in 9 different countries of the World including the United States of America, United Kingdom, France, Pakistan, China, Czech Republic and South Africa, amongst others.

Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his support to the NAF which had not only enabled the acquisition of new platforms but also facilitated robust and result-orientated training for enhanced professional performance. He reiterated the NAF’s resolve to sustain its human capacity development efforts, since the Service remains a veritable instrument for the maintenance of national security. The CAS ended his remarks by charging the young officer to put in his best as he joins his colleagues in the North East and North West Theatres to secure the Nation.

The newly-winged pilot, who is a member of the 64th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. He had his ab-initio flying training at 401 Flying Training School NAF Kaduna where he flew the Diamond DA-40 aircraft. He was nominated to attend Basic and Advanced Helicopter Flying Training at the Indian Air Force Helicopter Flying Training School, Hakimpet, India from 7 July 2019 to 6 October 2020. His training at the Indian Air Force comprised a total of 122 flying hours on the Chetak Helicopter.

This is an odd question. What is a soldier doing in the battlefield?

Is this what you're asking?

Before he was an Army chief, he was a soldier.

I agree, I can't wait for when Nigeria would start building large ships, 80 meters and above.

The mistake many Nigerians make is in the belief that Ajaokuta is the only steel plant in the country, there is Saba steel, African Resources and Mines limited which has invested over 1.5 billion dollars in their steel plant, and would be able to produce over 1 million metric tonnes of steel annually, even Proforce Defence has a steel plant.

I know after SDB 3 is launched, we will see much larger ships built in Nigeria. I just hope it happens very soon.

In 1995, SAS Drakensberg, on her voyage home after participating in exercises with 25 other ships in the US, visited Tema, Ghana.

In 2011, SAS Drakensberg again called on Tema, Ghana to pre-position Oryx helicopters, Special Forces and other equipment in case the deteriorating situation in Cote d'Ivoire necessitated the evacuation of the embassy there.

Nice try but stop the joke there. Diplomats and the intelligence community know that's a language couched for a non-existent power projection by SA in West African waters should ECOWAS decide to start the shooting. The SA Navy sending SAS Drakensberg a replenishment vessel to the waters of the Gulf of Guinea was at best suicidal brinkmanship massaging the ego of then southie president Jacob Zuma who was all over the place flexing muscles he didn't have and was taught that bitter lesson in the Central African Republic. Abuja scoffed at the brief presence of that ship and was restrained by the bloc not to blow it off the waters. The ship was simply a target run for the NAF or covert NNSBS elements. It stood no chance just provocation.

We are now to believe that a situation should not be doused/not de-escalated.
Somehow A NPF Officer who clearly has lost control of the situation by firing his weapon and teargas is in a better situation than the NAF Officer who clearly KNOWS how to de-escalate the Situation and ASKED for recording nothing hidden
Whom would y’all trust
We move on this too shall pass.

The military is the only professional organization we have in that country. The police is a mess has always been a mess for a long time. The senior military officer had the situation under control through de-escalation mechanisms a reflection of his advanced military training something glaringly lacking in the irresponsible actions of the police commissioner his junior by rank and command.

lol, might wanna calm down, is it today soldiers have tried dominating police officers in Nigeria? Get outta here dude, this is one incident, but there are hundreds more, soldiers inherently believe they have more authority than the police, and that shouldn't be the case.
The soldier clearly said "I will charge you" and i will also charge you to your force headquarters. Unless you have a different definition of charging someone for a crime, i take his statement as him arresting the cop and charging him with a crime, and i stand by what i said, a soldier shouldn't have such authority.
unless you have hearing problem.
But hey, carry on.
And stop quoting me if you are gonna be rude, i never said a darn thing to you.

You missed the part of the senior officer reminding him "as a professional..." that term separates an armed man from an armed criminal. The soldier knew what he meant and expected the police commander to adhere instantly not act with insubordination which was clearly the case. For the officer it was clearly irresponsible and reprehensible the police was firing live ammunition and tear gas in a civil situation that simply demanded de-escalation which he did asking to be a buffer between the police that in present day Nigeria antagonizes the youths. These are the facts others are shadows. The events there are proof of the mob mentality of the Nigerian police who mostly act like goons on the streets. These clearly reflect poorly on the NPF that goes about daily molesting citizens at random leading to the just #endsars movement.
