LordAA: Yes, an endorsement could simply mean a study leave or letter of introduction in this context. It may not be detailed. I'm advising him to get a detailed reference letter in support of his program. If his intention is to migrate, he could try express entry as you suggested. |

JohnErrin: Ooh.. You might need to reach out to persons outside Nigeria cos every Nigerian card has a monthly limit of $100 for a transaction. You can't pay with a Nigerian card |

milkytins: Get one from Nigeria. The VO is not concerned with TRU. His concern is with how the degree will be useful to your career as a lecturer. That is where his fears come from. 2 Likes |

milkytins: I think what you can do is to breakdown how data science will be helpful to you and how you can use to help healthcare companies It’s going to be a whole lot of task. U will need to tell the VO how Specializing in Data Science Will help you career growth and the benefits with the fact that it’s a new field and you want to capitalize on that Generally, you just need to let them know how the course will benefit you as a lecturer |

fratermathy:Thank u all for ur suggestions. However, if I provide all necessary documents and info as suggested, do u think the CO will not later ask why I am moving with my family? Though this was not raised as part of reasons for refusal in my first application. |

Most Nigerian banks put their limit at 100 usd which is less than the visa fee. If you have a dollar card (domiciliary account) that would work. I saw somewhere on this group that 2 banks still have their limits at 300 usd and you can use their cards. But I can’t remember the bank name. Hopefully someone helps out with that. JohnErrin: |

He has already included it in this application and they have it on record. If he removes it he’s joking with a 5 year ban. Please don’t try it. Anon123: 4 Likes |

Anon123: @Anon123, I appreciate your insightful comments and contributions on this platform. However, I have concerns that the bolded suggestion put forward by you as regards @milkytins enquiry is misleading and falsifying. Advising @milkytins to conceal the fact of having acquired a Masters and PhD in his reapplication is misrepresentation. Please note that withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter according section 40(2)(a) of the Canadian Immigration law would automatically render him inadmissible to Canada for a period of five (5) years. Therefore, I don't believe this is the best move at this point in his application. milkytins: @milkytins, truth be told it is almost impossible to convince the visa officer that you're a genuine student. The GCMS note has adequately enumerated the concerns of the visa officer and reapplying to study a master's program which is lower than your already completed degree doesn't show a career progression. As a consequence, I would strongly encourage you to explore the Express Entry route, max your IELTS (8,7,7,7), get your credentials evaluated by WES/ICES and apply to become a permanent resident of Canada. The PR route is straightforward and more assured once your documents are complete. As always, it will end in praise 3 Likes 1 Share |

englois: Some Nairalanders have been enquiring via mail as of how I got admission offer for MASC. So, I'd like to explain what I did. Being a thesis based program, I had to secure a supervisor. I sent several mails, some unresponded till date. The mail comprise of a cover letter where i speak about myself, my B.Sc research project, my skills. Also, I tend to skim through the supervisors profile so I can include 2 - 3 sentences about their work and how it relates to mine. All this to no avail as some will say no funding, no space, inadequate GPA, etc. So I changed tactics. After finding a prospective professor, I'll look for one of his/her numerous journals and read. Sometimes, It would take like 2-3 days to understand the journal and how it relates to mine. I'll then write my cover letter praising his research work and suggesting likely recommendations. I'll use like 65% of the cover letter to speak about the prof and his work and use the remaining space to speak about myself and how my work will benefit him. Afterwards, I'll attach my transcripts, CV and Bsc research project. In no time, this worked and I got a supervisor who accepted me. He felt elated that I read and understood his project. I sent him another mail to give me a chance. He said he was not promising but he will try to defend me before graduate admission committee. With God on my side, I received my offer of admission. I give all glory to God. I apologise for the long post. 18 Likes 1 Share |
