I thought due process was followed before appointing her. This is bad belle for Nigeria. If you frustrate Okonjo Nwala appointment, Nigerians living in the United States should vote against Trump. |

She has won this one and I will explain why. The US has just one vote at the WTO. Secondly the WTO isn't like the World Bank where the US is the largest voterband hold enormous influence like the EU does with IMF.As such I don't think they will be able to lobby other countries before the final day (09/11/2020). Okonjo has the majority vote (106 countries at last count). Remember they attempted something of such with Femi Adeshina but we prevailed. However I agree that Nigeria needs to strengthen it's relations with the US. 1 Like |

Sunsets:Your assertion is completely wrong including the analysts unprojected judgement on the issue. Nigeria is the strongest ally of US in Africa and the trade between Nigeria and US has rose above any other time in the recent decades. Forget abt China mobile phones and petty trade Nigerian do with China, agriculture, spare parts of industries and heavy duty machines and weapons Nigeria buy from US make greater difference. US is just looking for someone who will depend their interest amidst difficult trade battle with China. The confused gullible dullard Trump who is always supported here by his fellow dullards has shown his real face. The hater of intelligence, racist who isn't even aware of his mission to destroy his country's foreign diplomacy. He has done it with WHO which is headed by African, Ethiopian & perhaps he'll fail again with WTO. I think she'll win because Trump lost EU support as he's already in disagreement with them in many policies. Recently, Macron asked EU to stop relying on US for weapons. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Kzinne: This is not the Cruz of the matter this is just their excuse to justify their position ......the current WTO needs someone with more than trade experience and they know that...... NOI will still nick it by the time the council meets or via voting or if Biden wins the US election next week. 1 Like |

contigiency:International politics is quite different from mere bread and butter politics. It's all tallied around self interest. Every nation has a right to fight for their interest. US is an ally to South Korea, so you shouldn't expect them to support NOI if it doesn't meet whatever interest they have. We are talking realism. 2 Likes |

“So those who say I don’t have trade, they are mistaken. I think the qualities I have are even better, because I combine development economics with trade knowledge, along with finance, and you need those combination of skills to lead the WTO. I think I have the skills that are needed. I am a trade person.” Spot on |
