Hello Great People, I'd like to know your opinion on what is the shortest amount of time one needs to prepare for ielts?

At least 2 weeks of intensive reading

Yes initially I was getting 7/7.5 in listening and 6.5/7 in reading but as time when on I improved my average score to 8.0 in listening and 7.5 in reading . However in the real exam I got 8.5 in both modules because the practice materials were harder
can you please outline all the study materials you used to prepare for the exam?

IELTS has outlived it's usefulness for canada express entry. It is now IELTS + TEF or IELTs + TCF

Sorry and don't take it personal. My statement was based on the analogy that a candidate that is 29 years old with CLB 10 IELTS(maximum) , masters degree and more than three years of foreign work experience will earn a score of 481. With the new changes made a candidate with same profile but CLB7 TEF or TCF will earn a score of 535 which makes French proficiency tests much more valuable than IELTs as regards the express entry program.

Hi everyone. Please, I'm trying to do my IELTS registration. But I've hit a snag. Can anyone please tell me what I'm supposed to answer to the VAT/NIP question? Which is in the last section before making payment? Thanks.

General training practice all the questions under an exam condition and be strict with your self marking . Also progress to the master section. I got LRWS 8.5,8.5,7.5,8 in the real test (British council computer based) . I used this site for just reading and listening . I’m sure it would have prepared me for band 8.5 in writing and speaking if I had practiced it

Hi everyone,

Please concerning filling the five recognizing organizations for the IELTS result to be sent to, I know it can be done after payment, which I've done. Can I do this after the exam, that is after results are out, like weeks or months after? Or must I fill it in before the exam?

Secondly, I've uploaded my proof of ientification document. It's been showing this since I did: 'Successfully uploaded and pending approval'. Shouldn't it be approved already? Do I have anything to worry about? In the email they sent to me, they stated that "a legally binding agreement to take an IELTS test is concluded between me and them when they've received payment and documentation."
From experience of those who've written, please how long will I have to wait to get the confirmation email?

Thanks a lot everyone.

I love all the success stories I'm reading here, God bless us all I know nobody can motivate me unless myself but I will appreciate if someone can who has had the experience in the pass explain what's going on with me, have been practicing for 2 months now I felt like I'm not good enough especially with the reading aspect, the time is short trying all my best to manage but seems I can't.

The thing with all these practice tests is that they are much more harder than the real exam. Before my exam, my highest in the reading and listening section were 7 and 8 respectively. I wrote the exam and had 8.5 in both sections. The exams were so simple that I initially expected a 9 band score. So don't get scared if you don't get your desired band in practice tests, just familiarize yourself with question structures so that nothing meets you by surprise in the actual exam.

Hello everyone, Good afternoon. Please I need someone that wrote the computer based IELTS to guide me through how the listening section really is. I am asking because I write my answer in a paper during practice and then transfer my answers to the computer after each section. So please I need to know if I will have that luxury of time during the exam to do this, because listening and typing my answer at the same time can be distracting.

Thank you,

Hi everyone,
Please I have a few questions.
1. Will writing materials i.e pencils, pens, erasers, be provided at the center or will I have to use mine?
2. Pens or pencils, which are used for the listening, writing and reading sections.
3. Should I be expecting a mail with my time and date after receiving the confirmation of registration email?
4. How many days will it take before the results are released? Online and when will I get the hard copy?
Thanks everyone.

I do not have the answer to all your question but I can answer most of them.
1. According to the IDP website you will be provided with required materials for the test.
2. For the paper based test, answers are to be written with a pencil.
3. I'm sorry I do not have an answer for this, kindly read through the thread for more details.
4. For the computer based tests, it takes a period of 3-5 days to get your results. And for the paper based test, it takes about 13-14days to get your results. Furthermore, a Test Report Format popularly known as the TRF will be sent to you. I am not certain if it will be sent online or offline.

Regards,

Hello, it depends on what you mean by easier. Both forms of the tests are the same thing. One difference is that you will write down your answers in one and you will type your answer in the other. Another difference is in the writing section. If you are used to typing, then you would not find it difficult as you should be able to type 150 words and 250 words in 20minutes and 40minutes respectively. In a paper based test you might find it difficult to meet up with time and you will have to do a manual verification of your wordcount.

Thanks a lot for your reply damidam. I really appreciate. I've gotten an answer to the third question. Yea, an email confirming venue and time are sent prior to the date (for anyone else who wants to know).

Thanks once more!

Yea, With British Council the Venue is at Park Inn while IDP is at FUNAAB. It's your preparation that will determine if you will pass the exam or not and i don't think the state where you wrote the exam matters as the question are mostly the same. Headphones are always given for the listening part of the test and there are no CBT options in both locations at Abeokuta.

Thank you very much.
