Loloking: If he had said it is because of funding, then he'd have indirectly said he's sponsoring himself. And the next question might look like this: who is sponsoring you? If he said uncle, which is likely his case, then it would still lead to refusal. @Petershow! This is my assessment of possible reasons you were refused: 1, scholarship or GA is now one of the criterias to getting an F-1. Before, it doesn't really matter, but now, it seems it plays a big role in how the interview will end, especially when your sponsor is not your parents. People whose sponsor is Mother or Father stands a better chance, though they too must present strong responses to interview questions. It may not be the all-answer to approval, but it scholarship or GA increase your chances. Work towards that, or get another admission that comes with scholarship. 2. Your response to why you're just going to graduate school isn't strong and convincing enough. What happen to saying you did not really plan to get a master's but because there are advanced and emerging innovations and theories in this field that makes you feel inaquate professionally, you realise a master degree is essential for the next phase of your career. I always say this, nobody goes for master's and Phd based on desire; it is need-based -- you go to graduate school because you need it for for better career, to become a specialist, an expert, etc. Your response to why you are just going for this degree should have been crafted around these key reasons. 3. Your response to why this school is also not strong enough. When you mention about career goals and research interest, you left out the research area. That is half answer. You did not personalise your response here. 4. Point 1 to 3 are based on the opinion I have assuming to be in the VO shoes. I am not a VO. Howver, if you follow these points, you should get your visa next time. E sure for me. All the best! 34 Likes 3 Shares |

lifeofgolden1: Did you have funding? Masters or undergraduate? Age? |

Philadelphia: No for two years which is the duration of my studies. Thank you. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by lifeofgolden1: 1:34pm On Oct 30, 2020 |
Hollyholy:Funding=No Undergraduate and I am 28years. But I have a professional certification in computer science and engineering. I have been practicing for over 5 years now and the major I am gunning for is Business Informatics. Seriously, I suspect my age. That might strongly be the reason. |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Loloking: 1:45pm On Oct 30, 2020 |
lifeofgolden1: I guess Fairheart was right, looks like a GA or scholarship is a boost so please tell us if you had any funding and also why do you need this agree? You didn’t personalize your answers articulately. I am not a guru oooo so let’s wait for the gurus to help you but after spending my time on nairaland, your didn’t give more key points. lifeofgolden1: Generally speaking, NO. But this is not how the VO think. In his mind, you should be pursuing graduate degree, not undergraduate. If you have been on this thread for over 10 months, then you shoot yourself in the leg. Were you not here when we discuss the application of the guy that was refused in Ukraine, about a month ago? We started that some age are not suitable for undergraduate, at least not before you get the visa. You said you are a professional? Are you saying you already have a first degree? If so, why taking 2 steps backward? Why not move forward with advanced degree? 4 Likes |
