Bourne007: Old generation banks are very hopeless when they see movements in your account that is unusual. If I want to do such transactions, they go through my challenger banks. 2 Likes |

Mimzyy: Thank you jare. I have account with all the banks too but the ease of banking with these new banks cannot be compared. I bought something online one time like that and hsbc blocked my account. I was on the phone with their fraud dept for over 2hrs trying to prove that I made the purchase. Starling would have just sent me a one time password via the app to confirm transaction. Leave bobo erico alone to be enjoying his old school money 1 Like |

erico2k2: Erico bros, you have to move with time, you cant afford to be stuck in the dark age. In the last couple of years, we have changed how we shop(Amazon etc), how we listen to music(spotify, souncloud), how we watch movies(Netflix), how we commute (uber, tesla), how we live (smarthomes IoTs). The only thing left is banking. This is what informed these highly available and resilient new banks. They challenged the regulators that they can build a bank from scratch that can compete with old banks and provide service. And, this is what they have done. Most of the features that make these banks different are being copied by the old banks as we speak and that tells you they are doing something right. Let me burst your bubble, the hsbc, halifax natwest etc are now using machines in their banking halls. They are even closing some branches down. The ones they havent closed, just try and walk-in to see if they would not tell you to go and make your request online. So, what is the point of your brick and mortar? Anne Boden, the ceo even said they built the bank in such a way that they can even run it from starbucks 6 Likes |

LagosismyHome: Lol this is why I ran from Barclays with my two left legs! I can’t be speaking grammar over my own money again. If they suspected the influx, why didn’t they just call and ask- my own bank (FD) called me to ask me questions. Barclays is a silly bank! |

erico2k2: Leemao! Let me keep quiet and be walking since my 5 years financial history is nothing and I’m now JJC. Someone is telling you about bank that makes life easy; bank that’s close to their customers, bank that’s usi nig technologies you bridge the gap.. but you’re talking about financial history and comparing those archaic banks that don’t know anything about empathy, relationship building and loyalty to challenger banks. LoL All Barclays had to do was place a call to understand what happened. Why freeze the bank and make the students acceptance get withdrawn. And that’s what you call a bank? Shior! You don’t know good service even if it hits you. 3 Likes |

Aphrodite007: The problem with the story is that its third hand gist ..... with third hand gist you never really know what exactly happened. Freezing and then withdrawing funds long after payment and issuing of visa and CAS that really odd. Freezing for future or not letting a payment go yes that one I can understand ... However I never worked in a bank so I learn new things everyday. So this really new to hear and then Barclays no try at all if this what happened. 1 Like |

enesty: Not to be the bearer of bad news...but there nothing like relocation visa in the UK. You can move to UK mainly through school or job. With School that 3 million is absolutely nothing if it's a family package, for single self, you would need more to pass the maintenance and tuition requirements. With work that Sales pharmaceuticals work experience is not really relevant for jobs that file work Visa. Also covid is really dealing with the job market at the moment and covid still not gone with its wahala. 2 Likes |

wonlasewonimi: Fact! Unfortunately they serve some very useful purposes. The verdict is this - have an account with them (business and personal) as they prove very useful when you need credit at cheap interest rates. Think about how much they were able to lend out during this pandemic to businesses under BBL. The challenger banks are still learning in that regard. Twale to them! In fact Monzo no near there. However, to operate freely unhindered (business and personal), the challenger banks prove very useful as they see no evil and hear no evil - no too much questions! Since they operate digitally, it is almost easy to have issues resolved within 24 hours. I can't overemphasise your advise - please have a lot of accounts! 2 Likes |

erico2k2: Ah baba no talk like that o. If my life depended on Barclays and its 'idiot' colleagues, I for don kpai o. Hats out to MB though. They are redefining high street banking. You see those challenger banks, they are the real deal. From opening account (business to personal) and operating freely with no need to visit one branch or answer STUPID questions - it is priceless. The advise is to keep your high street bank accounts for ease of assessing credit at cheap interest rates but operate using the challenger banks. Challenger banks still have a long way to go with credit offerings. If Soludo were here, him for don recapitalise them as the 'bad guy' that he is. Thank God for FSCS. Kids and students you say? Lolz...... 1 Like 1 Share |

LagosismyHome: Yes I’m used to bank processes and I know why they flagged it. But this is so like Barclays, they have done this to friends before. Normally UK unis let you pay a certain percentage to get the CAS but you will be asked to pay the remaining 3k at a certain time (before uni starts). So it seems the lady must have sent the 3k and Barclays flagged it and stalled the transfer. Now rather than call to confirm, they just assumed it was fraudulent or scam. |

enesty: If I were in your shoes at the moment? i would search the Shortage Occupation list for an occupation related to my first degree. I would then research what else I need to get a job in the UK in that field? do I need further training? What? Where? Experience needed? what kind and where? It will need a lot of scouring the internet but hey ho faint heart never won fair lady. In other news,I still need naira, people. Please quote me if you have got any. Thanks |
